C'mon Cutler!! That should have been a first down on the Packers ten...but had to settle for the punt. Promising start for the offense.
-
How many freakin times do the Bears have to see the other team gash them with the slant pattern - whether short or deep - before SOMETHING is changed? What a horrible start.
-
I watched the game against the Seahawks again, and I noticed that there was a LOT of max protect. On a few plays the Bears had 6 or 7 guys in blocking a 4-man rush. Made me think of two things: 1) Did anyone else notice this? 2) Is this something that should be used repeatedly against the Packers?

I would retitle the first one "AWOL Tommie Harris," and combine it with Devin Aromashodu. If someone had told me before the season that DA would languish on the bench the majority of the season, especially after destroying it towards the end of last year, I would have called it insanity.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!!! I laughed hard. Shared it already with a few packer fans.

The former can barely conjugate a verb while giving an interview, so I'll steer clear of his critical analysis, regardless of his stellar career. The latter is kind of a surprise, because I didn't think any non-Chicago sportswriter would be choosing the Bears. And before anyone says anything about the comment, the former NFL guys, for all they know about playing the game, don't know dick when it comes to picking winners. Each of us could do just as good a job, if not better.

Here are a few reasons the Bears can play the disrespect card: 1. Split series, yet everyone is picking GB 2. The Packers win was a must-win, and the the Bears had nothing to play for...yet it was close. 3. Remind me again, who won the NFC North? 4. Playing at home. 5. Many saying Cutler is the fourth best QB left. 6. People are fellating the GB defense, but barely mentioning how the Bears defense completely shut down the Packers in the last game. 7. Lot more talk about the flowing locks of Matthews instead of the bald head of Urlacher. 8. Early game instead of the primetime game. 9. The Packers are the official favorite, getting 3 points 10. We'll see what these guys say in the next few days, but I expect I already know... http://espn.go.com/nfl/picks

This is a pretty good article about the Bears' offensive alignments and the Packers' defensive alignments. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id...martz-vs-capers

That's an awesome video. Peppers was bull-rushing the hell out of Okung, and directly led to Tommie Harris's two sacks.

The Bears may have home advantage when it comes to the crowd and the weather (against some), but they certainly don't have home "field" advantage. So far this year, at least the following people have ripped the garbage turf: -Cutler: "...worst field in the league..." -Urlacher: "The footing at Soldier Field has been horrible." -Olsen: ""You don't have to be a scientist to know that grass doesn't grow in these conditions. It is what it is." (In other words, "WTF can I do about it? No reason to complain.") -Desmond Clark: "...cow pasture...one of the worst fields in the NFL and there are no excuses why the Chicago Bears, of all teams, should have to play on such a bad surface." Even opponents! -Greg Jennings: "It's rough. It's probably one of the worst, probably the worst, in the league." If that isn't reason enough for responsible parties to make changes, then consider the Bears team speed on offense (three WRs with sub-4.4 forties), and a defensive scheme built for speed. It's pretty clear that Peppers had worse stats at home than away. What's more, the Bears have allowed an average of 22.7 points in nine home games this season, but 13.3 in road games. This weekend is probably a toss-up in regards to the field (both teams are fast), but I just hope the slips happen the same way they did against the Seahawks (i.e. they fall, the Bears don't). The thing I don't understand, however, is why we never hear about the grass at Lambeau. Isn't it just as cold, if not colder, up there? Must be the blend they use.

THIS, THIS, THIS!! Could not agree with you more. Bears + Night game = Scary Bears + Monday Night game = Potentially horrendous I like the early slot. Besides, it's just one more arrow in the disrespect quiver.
-
This I DEFINITELY disagree with.
-
I guess it's an agree to disagree moment. I think you have far too much optimism when it comes to this OL, and I sincerely hope the front office doesn't share your thoughts. I guarantee you Jay Cutler doesn't. As for the last comment, I'm not sure what you're talking about. The end of the first round and the second round is literally littered with T & G talent.
-
I guess I'm surprised by the answers in this thread. My experiences - and a quick, informal, unanimous office pool - are in direct opposition of what you guys have said here.

Do you really think the fans are cheering for the country? As a member of the military, it kind of surprises me that you feel this way.
-
I've been to several games for several sports, and there is always a spattering of folks in the stadium doing their own thing. I have never, however, heard such loud cheering/noise during the National Anthem as I did during the past weekend's game. Some cheering, clapping, etc, not a roaring crowd. I just don't think it's appropriate. The article somewhat supports my point of view (i.e. hand on heart and/or at attention with salute if in uniform). I suppose it has to do with the my military upbringing and time while serving. The code referenced in the article you provided mentioned the hat - which also bothers me - but also that the hand should be over the heart. If you get pissed at the hat thing, I'd think you would follow the rest and not clap. I view the National Anthem as a time to A] Pay respect to the country and all for which it stands, and, B] Pay respect to the singer and the song. In my opinion, it's not a time to cheer. The author's justification for the actions just seems weak to me. This line really irritated me: The solution - I clap, whistle and yell my heart out. When I'm cheering I feel I'm part of the song rather than a simple observer of a moment. So, in other words, whatever that guy wants...regardless of what thousands and millions of others have done in the past. BTW, this entire thread started because I thought it was a bit louder than normal, and a Seahawk friend of mine called and asked me if the Chicago fans always do that. I told him it's normal to hear some (like any stadium), but not nearly to that level.
-
But were they singing along with the National Anthem or just yelling and screaming? I couldn't really tell. If it's the former, then I think it's a show of pride; if it's the latter, then it's disrespectful. In my opinion, it shows that they are getting more hyped up for the game, and losing perspective about why the Anthem is played in the first place.
-
Can someone who was there enlighten me on what was going on during the National Anthem? Instead of it being hyped up, I thought it was pretty disrespectful for people to cheer during the National Anthem. Either sing along or STFU. Maybe someone can change my perspective on this based upon what was actually going on at Soldier Field.

Dude, improving from potentially the worst OL in NFL history to possibly mediocre is not enough reason to think that the OL is still not priority #1. Even people who AREN'T fans of the Bears know this. It is STILL a priority to draft OT in the 1st round. The Bears OL has yet to put together a dominating performance. The pass protection has gotten slightly better, but there are still flaws...and one very good game against the Seahawks doesn't change that. Meanwhile, the run blocking has been pretty horrible most of the year. Fact #1: Most sacks given up in the NFL. Fact #2: Most negative offensive plays in the NFL. Conclusion: OT and OG still priority #1a and 1b.

Reading this I thought, "Big deal, there are tons of people who want autographs and just don't get them for whatever reason." Players get swamped with requests, and it's natural that they will not get to everyone. Then I watched the video... 1-It's pretty clear that he had to see her, because he actually moved around her slightly. 1a-If he didn't see the old lady decked out in pink RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM, then I don't know how he does so well at QB. There were nearly no other people there. 2-Clay Matthews' comments confirmed that the players already knew about the lady beforehand. My thoughts now? F*#k Aaron Rodgers and the horse he rode in on. I, too, have had cancer in my family, having at least three people die of the results - my mother less than a year ago. And if this multi-millionaire asswipe can't take 30 seconds out of his oh-so-busy day to make a fan happy, especially one who in difficult times still devotes much of her energy towards cheering on the player, then it says a lot about Aaron Rodgers. I didn't like him before because he played for the Packers, but I didn't yet hate him on Farv levels. If he keeps up actions like this, it won't take him long to edge into Farv-hate territory.

Webb is still a weak link on passing downs, and probably will be next year as well. Frank Omiyale has NOT done a hell of a job this year. If you actually believe that, you didn't watch many games...or many plays for that matter. And even if the Bears DID need OG and C help above OT, they most certainly don't need CB help above OT. The Bears have better CBs on the roster than OTs. To argue otherwise is just ridiculous.
-
Good thoughts Brian. I was also thinking of a few specifics: 1- Mike Brown INT returns for OT TDs in consecutive games. 2- The Fog Game 3- When the snow starting coming down in 85 and the whole team/crowd cheered

I was wondering what goes into the greatest Bears' highlight video of all time. I have some favorite plays and highlights, but I was wondering if I'm missing something. Thoughts?
-
Ask and you shall receive. It's not polished like a lot of stuff I've done before, but I just post the quick and dirty stuff on this account.

THIS. I unequivocally disagree with the ridiculous notion that the Bears don't need OL help first AND second. Not only has Jay Cutler been the most sacked QB in the NFL, but the Bears are above and beyond all other teams when it comes to the number of negative plays (i.e. sacks, runs for loss, passes for loss). There are a handful of good to great OLinemen available in the first round of next year's draft. If Angelo steps over them for another position, not only should he lose his job, but Cutler should file attempted manslaughter charges against him.
