  1. I can't believe the Bears won that game. The offense REALLY stepped up. The final interception by Harris was pretty much the only time I like the cover-2 (which they were definitely running on that play). It's when the opponents need a lot of yards in little time, and the safety just gets to sit back, read the eyes, and break on the ball. Either way, it was awesome to see the Bears pour on some points. Great to see a complete offensive performance. Martz, Cutler, Forte, Hester, and Knox had superb games.
  2. Nope. I have said TONS of times on here that I'm not a big fan of three up the gut runs. In almost no situation whatsoever. I hate it unless the other team doesn't have time outs and it's to run out the clock.
  3. Really Idonije? NOW is when you decide to get your once a game offsides penalty?
  4. Not wrong. Which is why there should have been some misdirection. Hell, I know it's all about the clock, but I wouldn't have minded seeing a play-action pass to the TE who is GUARANTEED to be open in that situation.
  5. On the "in the grasp" play, do you agree with the announcers that the DBs should be playing BACK? Seems to me this is a stupid strategy given the QBs lack of time. Seems like they should be playing right on the WRs with the safeties watching QB eyes.
  6. HORSESHIT. If that was Farv like last week, the play is stopped 3 seconds earlier.
  7. This just in: The Bears are vulnerable to the 6-yd slant.
  8. That bastard Nantz jinxed Gould by mentioning the streak.
  9. What? Do you think it is as high as 5? Seriously!? The Bears' DBs almost NEVER are on the line for bump and run. I know this because I almost shit a brick every time I see one of them within 5 yards of the WR when the play starts.
  10. Exactly. Shutdown corners don't make sense when they're supposed to sit in a zone and cover an area. And the Bears' DBs jam the WRs on maybe 1 play out of 100.
  11. BTW - This is what I envisioned when I cheered the Martz hiring at the beginning of the year. Best show on crappy sod.
  12. CUTLER TO KNOX!!! I thought the Jets had a good defense!?
  13. Notice I didn't scream cover-2 on that one. That was clearly a safety missing his assignment. Of course, the assignments for safeties in the cover-2 are the root of a different problem.
  14. Defensive problems: All because of the absolutely non-existent pressure. Even a scrub QB can find an open WR (the other reason why the Bears need to draft a safety).
  15. Cutler to Hester!! AWESOME! This play is proof that all this offense needs is time. Give Cutler and these speedy WRs time, and they will score. Period.
  16. Even though I'm not a Davis lover/hater, he didn't even touch that ball. Brad Smith dropped it. And Cutler made them pay for that BS.
  17. Awesome start to the second half. Briggs gets his hand on a pass and then the Jets blow the fake punt. THEN BAM!!! TD TO KNOX!!
  18. Agreed to a certain extent. It just seems that every time the Bears are getting bent over the table it's because they're sitting in a cover-2 zone, or some variation, and the QB for the other team just steps up into the pocket and finds his guy in a zone hole. The problem is, the Bears rely on a four-man rush more than any team in the NFL (saw a stat on it a week or two back), and it just doesn't work. There needs to be a better design of blitzing or utilizing the front four if the coaches MUST use only them. It just doesn't seem that any DC or HC who has roots in the cover-2 system knows how to design or implement effective rush/blitz packages.
  19. WOW. I'm shocked they didn't just down it. I stand corrected.
  20. So...quick...before the kickoff. What do you want to bet that: 1) The Jets will kick short to an up man. 2) There will be time left on the clock 3) The Bears will not take a shot at a hail mary (which has worked more than once this year).
  21. Doesn't take a genius. I often wonder how the Bears have done as well as they have with this defensive scheme. It's ALL about the turnovers. The Bears have been fortunate enough to get them. Otherwise, every competent offense has gashed them.
  22. Personally, if it were 7 picks in 7 rounds, I'd like to see something like the following: OL OL DL S QB OL P
  23. Great adjustment by Martz...as alluded to by the announcers. Reminds me of the Cowboys game. They sent the house...lots of pressure. Worked for a while, and then Martz changed it to a bunch of quick hitters to the RBs and the TEs. Thank God we don't have those morons Turner or Shoop any more. An OC who can actually adjust is such a luxury.
