    Let's face it

The guy can't block. The guy can't read a defense. What the hell can he do well?
  2. Things I'd like to see: -Everyone involved with the defense to realize the inherent gaps in the cover-2 are easily exposed when there is no pressure on the QB. -Everyone involved with the offense to realize the flaws of a 7-step drop when this OL is undeniably atrocious, and possibly blind.
  3. I believe in shades of gray, but in my opinion, even with Collins you go for the jugular. I was in Charlotte, and it was readily apparent that A] the team was less aggressive, and B] Collins was horrible.
  4. Agreed again. Training camp was too late, actually a few years too late. This should have been addressed in AT LEAST the last two drafts. Total JA fail...but HEY! We sure did get a ton of quality Defensive Linemen. Right?
  5. I don't mind most of this post, but the bolded part is offensive. There is no way in hell that Omiyale is CURRENTLY even mediocre. He's one of the worst 5 offensive linemen in the entire NFL. If he improves (big if) it will be from wet dog hair, rotten garbage, decomposing body foul to fresh steaming pile of horse manure.
  6. Sadly, you're probably right, because Lovie doesn't have "go for the throat" in his personality. This game will resemble the Panthers game: Bears score early, get a safe lead, put it into neutral, cruise down the hill, hoping the hill (read: defense) gets the car to the destination.
  7. yeah, except for the fact that the Bears will have Frank Freaking Omiyale at the LT!
  8. Typical from this staff. Taking a player and moving him to a position that is foreign. Considering that Williams is a finesse LT, I just don't see how adding him in at OG is a good thing...except for the fact that he has to be better there than Omiyale would be, and that is the reason for the move.
  9. Can't resist adding this in about Forte and the Bears' OL... Detroit - 2.9 ypc Dallas - 2.9 ypc GB - 2.6 ypc NYG - 2.2 ypc CAR - 7.5 ypc Case closed.

    What if?

I had a scary thought today... Green Bay GB is decimated with injuries, currently 3-2, and has the following left: MIA, MIN, NYJ, DAL, MIN, ATL, SF, DET, NE, NYG, CHI That's 8 tough games left, without even counting a dangerous Dallas team, an improving Detroit team, and an underperforming SF team. GB could feasibly finish with 4 or 5 more losses, easily, and finish just on the outside of a wild card birth. Minnesota Sitting at 1-3 with the following left: DAL, GB, NE, ARI, CHI, GB, WAS, NYG, CHI, PHI, DET That's 8 tough games for them as well. And since Fartve isn't having a miracle year like last year, they will probably do worse than GB. Probably 5 or 6 losses, finishing 7-9 or so, out of the playoff race. That leads me to this... Chicago has SEA, WAS, BUF, MIN, MIA, PHI, DET, NE, MIN, NYJ, GB Just like the others, 8 tough games left. But the Bears have already beaten GB, and I think the Bears are just an overall better team right now. The odds are that the Bears will win the division (barring the extraordinary). With that said, does winning the division guarantee Lovie stays?
  11. Exactly. For a guy who is just now in his sixth year, it's very possible for him to have another 8-10 years left in the tank. Considering that you are guaranteed - barring injury - at least 5, it's a much safer bet than gambling on a second rounder, much less a later draft pick. Logan Mankins is well worth a 2nd rounder.
  12. Great link. That was pretty funny, and dead on accurate. Nearly every one of the ESPN hacks is a Brett Farv ass kissing apologist, and the MNF game was pathetic. Farv does something good = OMG! The announcers are breaking out the KY and knee pads. Farv does something bad = Hey, how about those baseball playoffs!? The worst offenders: Madden, Berman, Gruden

    Cutler sees Green

ESPN also reporting that Todd Collins has been demoted to 4th string, despite the fact that the Bears only have 3 QBs.
  14. 1. Logan Mankins - Hell yes. 2. Jeff Garcia - Better than Hanie or Collins 3. Steve Smith - Sure, I guess...but why bring in another WR to a team that has a talented group of young receivers who already don't get the ball spread around enough? 4. Bernard Berrian - As already mentioned, bear shit. Honestly, I don't understand why Steve Smith gets a . I would be barely excited if he were on the team.
  15. Hell, I think Jeff Garcia is my answer to two different problems. I'd rather have Jeff Garcia on the OL than Omiyale. At least Garcia would be smart enough to not get false starts, and would be weak enough that the Tice would never dream of doing anything other than providing a second blocker as his backup (i.e. what Manumaleuna is supposed to be doing, but isn't, even though it is clear Omiyale's family tree includes a three toed sloth about four generations back).

I also wonder if the sun is hot or if water is wet.

    Jeff Garcia

Which is why I had no problem when the Bears brought in Adam Archuleta.

I hope you're right, but I don't know if his career is as stellar as Sportscenter fellatio would have everyone believe. Some lowlights: -Most INTs in history -Most Fumbles in history -Gave away the sack record to his friend by laying down on the ground -Held the city of Green Bay hostage for multiple years while he toyed with playing another season -Essentially did the same thing to the Jets -Did the same thing, again, to the Vikings -Purposely orchestrated his departure from GB, and a one year stint in NY, just to get back at his team while playing with Minnesota -Admitted abuser of pain pills -Flip-flopped after actual retirement and a tear-filled interview at Soldier Field -Possibly contributed to the early retirement of Barry Sanders, who had to share an MVP with Favre despite running for 2000+ yards -Has thrown more stupid INTs and choke-jobs than any QB who has played in the NFL -Ostensibly cheated on his wife I've thought for many years that Favre is a fake nice guy, one who exudes everything you expect in public, but is actually different from his "aw shucks" persona. Besides, the Jenn Sterger incidents aren't the first like this in Favre's career; it's been well known for some time that he and Chris Berman have swapped fluids.

    Jeff Garcia

Yes, because the outstanding performances by Todd Collins (39 years old by the way) over his illustrious career has warranted him various NFL positions. The reason he's not in the NFL is similar to the reason Collins is still in the NFL. Poor evaluation based upon guys who perform well in practice and look good in the locker room, but can't do shit in the game (i.e. the opposite of Garcia). Meanwhile, Garcia has been doubted his entire career because his measureables aren't great. But the dude just keeps producing, just puts up wins. Keep in mind Garcia put up those 2700 yards two years ago in only 12 games for a Tampa Bay offense that had an atrocious assortment of receivers. And he would have EASILY had the celebrated 3000 yard mark if yet another team/coaching staff wasn't giving the position away to a lesser QB (Griese), who just so happened to throw for about 984 yards against the Bears that year. The whole "there is a reason he is not in the NFL" is a weak excuse that doesn't hold water...if it did, Collins would have been out of the NFL some time ago. The league is littered with bad decisions, especially when it comes to QBs for the Bears over the past 10 years.

    Jeff Garcia

Personally, I'd rather have a very talented QB, a very mobile QB, a proven leader and veteran who nearly threw for 3000 yards two years ago - in less than a 12 full games - than an unknown with minimal talent (Hanie) or a bum (Collins). It can only help the team.

    Jeff Garcia

The story of his career. Doubt, doubt, doubt. That dude will be better at 60 than Collins has ever been.
  22. Despite agreeing with your first five comments, my experiences were quite different when I was at the game. I thought they got fairly loud when the Panthers came out. And the few times we got loud Bears' chants going, the Panthers fans quickly reacted and overpowered us. They booed Peppers fairly well, which shows they were upset about him leaving. I also had conversations with more than one Panther fan who was polite and intelligent in a football sense. Sadly, I saw a group of drunk 20-somethings who had Bears' shirts on, and they were a complete joke. Luckily they were the minority, and I even managed to get a few fans to sing the Bears fight song (they didn't know it).

    Jeff Garcia

Jeff Garcia still wants to be in the NFL. Todd Collins doesn't deserve to be in the NFL. This seems like an amazingly easy decision.
  24. I didn't really think they looked as good on rushing plays as the Panthers looked bad. Passing? Still horrible. Collins got absolutely buried on more than one play. If the team risked it and put Cutler in this game, he would have missed multiple subsequent weeks.
  25. I'm normally a big fan of throwing on 2nd down (play action pass) at the goal line. Here's why: 1st-Run: Fail 2nd-Run: Fail 3rd-It's almost a guarantee that this down will be a pass. By putting in a play action pass on 2nd, there isn't that feeling a coach gets that he has failed the first two downs and doesn't want to do the same thing on the third down. Having said that, I'm actually never an advocate of passing when Collins is at QB.
