One other note on this thread... I saw DJ Moore multiple times while at Vandy, and he is a VERY good player. I can't see how his talent doesn't translate to the NFL, and I expect him to get into games and do well...just like Bennett.

If the Bears draft a RB in this draft, I'll puke. RB is probably the LAST position the Bears need to draft. Seriously, I don't know if there is one position the Bears need to draft less.

The simple answer is this: YES. Anyone who thinks that looking at Andrews isn't a good idea, well, they have selective memory. The mere fact that people on this board are not terrified by the prospect of going into this season with essentially the same OL talent is unbelievable. The OL was complete trash last year, and it needs more talent. Period. Omilaye is going to start, and that should be something very worrisome to everyone who wants Jay Cutler to do well. For the better part of last year, the words "worst in the league" got grouped with Omilaye too many times for my liking, regardless of how much he "improved." Draft OL. Sign OL. It's absolutely mandatory.

Don't forget that the Bears had Devin Aromashodu sitting on the bench all year, and then blew up when he got in. In other words, the fact that a player is sitting on the bench for the Bears does NOT mean the player on the field is better. Not with this staff. Aside from that, I just about agree with your position analysis. 1st priority: OG/OT 2nd priority: FS (not as worried about it if Peppers collapses the pocket) 3rd priority: ?? To be honest, I could see DT right alongside FS. I don't know about everyone else, but I'd like the Bears to take a late round flyer on a QB with potential...because if Cutler takes a day off because of the flu, there is no way the Bears win with Hanie or Basanez (?).

The more I think about it, the more it doesn't matter. The Bears could insert Manute Bol at FB and he'd do SOMETHING better than McKie. Hell, just reaching over the pile he'd be guaranteed to get more YPC than McKie.

I'm also surprised because I think he's been a horrible tackler (too much of the strip first, tackle second nonsense). I would like to see how they measured these supposed tackles and missed tackles. I'm smelling some BS.

The funny thing is, I think the idea isn't that bad. And, you're right, I don't see how he wouldn't be an improvement over Davis as a receiver. Unfortunately, there is no way Gault would survive if he had to play ST.

I liked Ta'ufo'ou. Pretty much any cool Polynesian name means the player is going to be fairly hard-nosed.

GREAT point of view. I'd love to see Sharper signed. He's got great instincts, he's always around the ball, and he'd provide the vet leadership the Bears desperately need.

Stupid. Either the talent or potential for all the Bears' WRs outweigh the overall meh that exemplifies Baskett. The only advantage of signing him would be getting to see his wife.

I've seen mention of Taylor getting more carries than Forte, but I just don't see how that can be. Taylor last year with a great OL got the same YPC as Forte got behind the paper mache OL. Actually, this is why I'm not all that impressed with the signing...aside from it being a minimal concern in regards to other needs. On a semi-related note, does everyone think the prevailing theory that every team needs TWO top-line RBs is a load of crap? I believe a 30 carry RB is still feasible, and signing two starter-quality RBs is somewhat wasteful considering the team's performance and record last year which indicated glaring needs for multiple other positions.

Check out my list, NFO. I thought backup-RB was a low need...about 5th or 6th. If the whole time EVERYONE thought it was FS, OL, DL (in whatever order) and THEN backup-RB, then there was no real disagreement. The talking heads, however, don't stay current or just plain get lazy. RB was not a high need, but it was, like most positions, one that could be upgraded. It's just that my philosophy is to fix the completely broken before the undesireable.

The talking heads are idiots who get lazy and make their judgements based upon stat lines and highlight reels. WR was at BEST the sixth most needed position. 1A) OG 1B) OT 3) FS 4) DT 5) #2 RB

Seriously, just take a step back and think about what you post some time. I know I come off as abrasive, and I can respect dissenting opinion, but you continually post ignorant comments and it gets quite tired (see a recent thread when other board members didn't seem too unhappy with your threat to quit on the Bears).

Ironic from you considering your incessant harping for more WRs. Regardless of that, however, I agree. I'm not that big on this signing because I didn't see it as such a huge need, but I can't fault the management for making a shrewd move to get a starter quality RB as a second guy. Also, think of how much he'll want to hand the Vikings their asses!

Great post. I have absolutely NO problem with Jerry and the crew getting rid of first and second round picks if it means they pick up proven all-star talent with the money that would otherwise have gone to an untested rookie. Bravo JA.
