    Pop quiz hotshot

The only reason Mel Tucker has been successful in Georgia is because he essentially gets multiple first and second round "draft picks" (i.e. big time recruits) each year for his defense. https://georgia.247sports.com/Season/2018-Football/Commits Then he takes those "draft picks" and undercoaches them against, for the most part, a mix of 1st-5th round draft picks. It's only when he plays against another team with similar draft picks that his incompetency shows.
  2. Picture this... Biggest game of the year. Overtime. 2nd/26 at the opposing 41, and they have to score at least a FG. (PS. Their kicker sucks.) Your base defense is set. It's all you really know or do because you're not an outside the box thinker. And when you DO make changes, they're not really in reaction to counteracting the offense. They're just changes for the sake of change. But it's all part of the plan! You intend to confuse the opposing QB not with alterations and adjustments, but with the decision of which QB is most open. You've fully explained position to the safeties, but not philosophy. "They're athletes," you think to yourself, "they can recover." What do you do? What do you call? Doesn't matter. Everything you did blows up in your face because you're... MEL FREAKING TUCKER I'm so glad that moron isn't on the Bears' staff any more.

    Nagy's offense

All offenses need a #1 WR. The real question is, can a #1 WR be created from a #2 through scheme, QB play, and offensive line protection?

    Calvin Ridley

I don't think you can use last night to judge whether or not he's a #1. Jalen Hurts is a horrible passing QB. He's Kordell Stewart. He's a gimmick because he's an incredible athlete that has likely been the best athlete on his team his entire life, and naturally ended up being the QB. Hurts severely hindered Ridley's progression and statistics the past two years. Having said that, I don't want Ridley at #8 either. If the Bears traded down, however, I'd love to see him mid/late first.

    Matt Nagy

I've read a lot of message board chatter and there is debate about who was calling plays when. Most Chiefs fans, however, appear to think that Reid took over play calling during the playoff game, and it resulted in the loss. Who's to say?

    Matt Nagy

The Chiefs are... 5th in total yds/game 2nd in yds/play 7th in pass yds/game 10th in pass TDs/game 2nd in INTs/game 9th in rush yds/game 1st in rush avg/carry 15th in rush TDs/game All that with Alex Smith, a rookie RB, and virtually nobody at WR after Tyreek Hill (who is really a glorified #2). That's pretty damn good. Add in the fact that he was behind Alex Smith's career year, and it sounds even better. Honestly, if he can do that with the talent in KC on offense, I don't see why he can't do really well in Chicago.
  7. Maybe it sounds like a crazy idea, but wouldn't it be worth it for the Bears to test the waters with Bill Belichick? It seems like all the drama in NE might be pushing him out. Maybe he'd be interested in a new situation where he's given massive control and a long period of time to get things turned around? If he did anything close to what has been done in New England, he'd be revered like Ditka is in Chicago.

I can absolutely confirm it wasn't the GM that did the hiring. I have a friend very close to the GM and he said Mark Davis did the hiring.
  9. Interesting list: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2194751...baugh-leads-way
  10. HAHAHAHAHA! Big Hire. HAHAHAHAHA
  11. At this point I'm not sure what's serious and what's sarcasm. Surely you don't believe Urlacher would be a better head coach than Toub.
  12. I'm not sure how it relates to a potential hiring of McDaniels, but I've done what you're saying. And I lost big, but it wasn't because of my risk tolerance. I lost multiple good hands when people just had great hands, because I'm just not that lucky.

    Draft QB Needs

Carson Palmer just retired, and that makes the Cardinals a LOT more interesting in trading up to get one of the QBs.
  14. What would you guys think of a college HC moving up into the Bears' picture? I'm talking about guys who have been thought of as odd balls with talent or flair. Guys who have been known to produce. Thoughts?
  15. I wouldn't mind McDaniels. I've always been more on the side that doesn't care about the details as long as the Bears win. If the Bears coach bends the rules a bit and is thought of negatively across the league, fine with me. I want wins.
  16. I've watched enough of Chubb to believe he's not quick enough to be a 3-4 OLB who can be relied upon to drop into coverage, and his pass rush skills are more suited to a hand in the dirt than standing on the edge. The scheme flexibility would be nice, but it's mainly to utilize his skills when using the traditional 4-3. The near consensus is that he fits best as a 4-3 DE, and is somewhat of a tweener for 3-4 defenses. I agree with that line of thought. He doesn't have the suddenness or speed, or ability to bend the edge, that guys like Floyd and Key have. Having said all that, if he added 25lbs or so of muscle/bulk, I could see him as an Akiem Hicks counterpart. Or if he lost a little bit of weight, it could be interesting to see if he gained any more burst. What I see is potential in Key. He's the same type of player Floyd was coming out. If Pace was enamored with Floyd, he should be enamored with Key. Floyd: 6'6", 240lbs, 4.5 sacks, 17 sacks career Key: 6'6", 240lbs, 4.0 sacks, 20 sacks career They have the same type of explosion, and one would hope could be used to terrorize an opponent's QB.
  17. I’d like that scenario quite a bit.
  18. Do you want to keep Fangio? If so, where does Chubb fit in the 3-4? He’s not a 3-4 DE or a 3-4 OLB.
  19. The incompetence of Low Gains today makes me laugh at anyone who thinks these guys are football gurus because they managed to network their way into the NFL. He’s not offensively intelligent or knowledgeable enough to run a top level high school offense, much less an NFL offense.
  20. What do the Bears need worse? OT. What should the Bears do if they stay at their spot? Arden Key, because the OTs aren’t worth that high of a pick.
  21. I’m excited about the possibility of a new head coach, who will hopefully be offensive minded, creative, and able to alter the future of the offense so that the Trubisky draft gamble can reach its peak.
  22. I’m not. This is something that has been mentioned in previous years with this OL and other iterations of it.
  23. That's awesome! Thanks!! I knew there had to be a remote possibility if NFL hasn't given the bye to a second NFC team.
  24. I don't really dislike Williams, but I just think he's been pumped up a bit too much. Maybe McGlinchey has been too? Honestly, I don't see how the Bears can intelligently stay at #7 unless they love Calvin Ridley or Arden Key. In the top 7, there is Barkley (RB), Chubb (DE), Fitzpatrick (S), Rosen (QB), Jackson (QB), as well as Key and Ridley. The QBs and RB are absolute not going to get drafted, and I don't think Chubb fits as a 3-4 DE. That leaves Fitzpatrick, who is awesome, but would be a horrible pick considering the Bears' young duo. Someone will want to move into that spot to reach on Baker Mayfield or Josh Allen. And if Sam Darnold comes out, that makes the #7 pick worth its weight in gold, because one of the perceived blue-chippers falls.
  25. He also mentioned recently that he has not had trouble finding employment in the NFL. He is overly confident for someone who is almost certainly getting fired about 3:01pm on Sunday.
