Sorry, but the PI on Tillman was legit. He held Rice in the EZ.
-
How inconvenient. But it doesn't really matter anyway; I'm sure Lovie and staff would have figured a way to keep Adams limited to about 5 snaps on obvious running downs.

As I've said numerous times, Turner's too far into the forest to see the trees. Only an idiot would send help against a weak DE, and single up a slow OT against an opposing DE who just happens to be one of the best in the NFL. Once again, facts come out to support the idea that Turner's been bad for a long time, and anyone who supports him just doesn't seem to understand common sense football.

Finally given the chance to show why Jay Cutler has been lobbying so hard on his behalf since the start of training camp, WR Devin Aromashodu made a strong impression in the Week 14 loss to the Packers. Aromashodu highlighted his first start as a Bear with a terrific 10-yard back-shoulder TD catch. He had two catches for 10 yards in Week 15. "Cutler likes that he's a bigger target," a team insider said of Aromashodu, who was plucked off the Redskins' practice squad last season. "He's not just a possession guy; he can stretch the field. And he's the only receiver on the team who can win jump balls." Why the Bears waited so long before working Aromashodu into the mix wasn't the only question left unanswered after Week 14. Equally curious was the decision not to start LB Jamar Williams one week after a 20-tackle performance against the Rams that many believe deserved a lot better. Good questions. I think Aromashodu just lost out in a numbers game. Bennet, because he was not used last year, is essentially a rookie. Knox is obviously a rookie. And there is no way Hester didn't start. Williams, however, is a different story. He should have seen more playing time.

My disagreement with the last one is, I don't really think the WR opposite him is making that big of an impact to hinder or help one way or another. Further, if the OL was improved, like you mentioned, the very next most important thing to make Hester better is to get rid of Turner. Without Turner in the mix, I have a feeling, just like I did before this season, that the WRs will be better than everyone thinks, and the suitable opposite WRs will emerge opposite Hester. In fact, I'm convinced that the Bears actually have a pretty decent, if not a bit raw, corp of WRs. Knox is lightning in a bottle. Bennett is a great possession guy with deceiving speed. Aromashodu looks to have some serious talent. And Hester is obviously one of the most dangerous players in the NFL. Get rid of the OC and improve the OL, and the WR will emerge.

Actually, when he was on the field with the Bears, he did look pretty great. He looked fast, strong, and just more athletic than most players. He looked explosive. The problem is, he was never on the field. I hated the pick when it happened, but I was hoping for the best.

I'm all sorts of behind the idea on getting Russ Grimm. Too bad the Bears missed the boat on Alex Gibbs being available.
-
And I was screaming the entire time that Gage needed to be in the game more. Him and Bradley. Dez White was hindering progress the first year, but the offensive scheme and QB really blocked progress during Gage's entire time in Chicago.

Ooooh. I forgot all about the check-box F'up.
-
Ogun has been a nice guy, a decent if not overrated performer, and I appreciate his contribution to the Bears. But he's not someone that will be dearly missed.
-
Huh? Get better on OL and WR, but put all the draft picks into the defense? That doesn't make sense at all.
-
For those outside of the Chicago area, could someone please post a link to the ad, take a picture of the ad in the paper, or do something else so that everyone can enjoy what their contributions have produced? thanks

Tough call. I'd say start Manning. There is a good chance he'll at least get 2-3 QTRs of play, and with that time he'll more than likely put up the same stats as Ryan.

Seriously, could someone on this board be a better GM than Angelo when it comes purely to talent evaluation and drafting? With regards to the salary cap, let's just pretend that someone else is handling it on the team (even though I think LT2 could do a better job than anyone on the Bears). In regards to the draft only, do you think that someone from the board would have done a better job than Angelo since he's been with the Bears?

I just chipped in $20. I think the best part is their beginning statement: "The Chicago Bears organization is in disarray. Both the general manager and head ball coach are making decisions that quite frankly, you or your neighbor could probably make… better." Ain't that the truth.

Color Commentator: And we welcome in Lovie Smith, Head Coach for the Chicago Bears. Thanks for stopping by Lovie. “How about those Bears?!” Color Commentator: This week's loss to the Ravens was a tough one, coach. Many are disappointed. “We had opportunities but we couldn't put it away. We've got to find a way to win.” Color Commentator: The defense seems to be under fire lately, especially the cover-2. How do you think it worked on the Ravens' fade pass for a touchdown when Peanut was in coverage? “Charles has been through a lot this year. He had a tough spell early in the season. He came back after that. Good football players eventually play that way. That's just a huge play.” Color Commentator: The defense didn't look great; that's a given. On offense, however, many noticed the running game looked decent at the beginning of the game. What's the cause of that? “We get off the plane running the ball. Color Commentator: When the running game was working for the Ravens, it was evident that the play-action pass to Todd Heap became highly effective. In this matchup of talented tight ends, talk about Greg Olsen's contribution for this game. “We continue to talk about getting the ball to the tight end. And that's the plan each week. Some weeks are easier than others.” Color Commentator: Unfortunately, that didn't work out very well. It was also pretty clear that Johnny Knox was missing most of the game, and has been since his breakout start to the season. Can you give us some insight to his development? “I think he's made improvement and we're getting a chance to see what he'll be someday.” Color Commentator: Coach, with the season lost, what are the plans for integrating the rookies and others who show promise into the lineup? Aromashodu seems to have stepped up lately. “We've seen improvement each day. And it shown, he's given us a taste of it each game that he's played lately the last two football games.” Color Commentator: What about Jarron Gilbert, coach? “Our defense is about four-man pressure and now we feel like we have a 'bell cow' at defensive end.” Color Commentator: I'm not sure which player you are referring to. So does that mean Gilbert and fourth round selection Henry Melton won't see much playing time, even though at this point in the season the playoffs are a dream, and development is key to the future? “The situation is different for different positions.” Color Commentator: Coach, those guys play the same position. "Our rookies will get better." Color Commentator: Let's get sidetracked for a minute, coach. There is a lot of talk around the NFL about your future with the Bears. Care to comment? “Stability is so important.” Color Commentator: Ahh, so being coy? OK. Back to the offense. What happened with Jay Cutler this week? "We just want to play good football. We don't want to beat ourselves.” Color Commentator: Agreed. Any final thoughts on the embarassing loss to the Ravens? "We know what type of football team they are, but we feel like we’re the same type of football team ... We’re playing a physical football team that’s fighting for a playoff spot. Each week is hard in the National Football League. They have a lot of good players. We have good players." Color Commentator: Thanks coach! And now, this week's photo of a Bears' fan reacting to this week's game.

Now that's a hilarious thought!
-
Great. The cover-2 is making Joe friggin Flacco look like Montana.
-
BTW - Did you see that GENIUS sequence of goalline plays from Ron Turner? Wow! What brilliance! There is the proof of how he got to the NFL! It's difficult to debate with that series of plays.
-
Nice try, smart guy. The Bears ARE HAVING SUCCESS RUNNING THE BALL! Are you even watching the game? Speaking of snarky comments, I've noticed you haven't posted that much now that it's pretty much certifiably insane to support the notion that Turner is a good OC. Coincidence?
-
Ahhhh...now that makes sense. I didn't see it, but that one sounds like it's on Cutler. Slants are based upon timing and a quick release...if both are disrupted and throw is still made, then there is a decent chance at problems.
-
Why did he have to "hold back just a bit"?
-
It's called a play-action pass to the TE. The Ravens showed it to you, twice. It seems to work ALL THE TIME for other teams. You might want to think about putting it into the playbook.
-
Sounds odd to me. Either it wasn't a very quick slant, or it was superhuman stuff from the DB. Was it bump and run? Was there a blitz on? Which WR was it thrown to?
-
Missed the entire first part of the game until the Ravens TD pass, of course. Can someone give me the play by play? The announcers said Cutler threw an INT. What happened? Did anything else happen on offense?
