  1. I obviously couldn't see the off camera stuff, but I saw about three plays that looked as if a receiver was open and Cutler didn't throw that way. Of course, how can you blame Cutler when on the fourth step of a five step drop he can already smell the breath of a defensive lineman.
  2. As always, Turner insists on inserting the square peg into the round hole, all the while ignoring common sense often enough for nearly everyone who has seen multiple games to question his coaching ability. This absolutely MUST be Turner's last season in Chicago.
  3. When you said "personnel" moves, I was really hoping it would list coaches.
  4. I think I FINALLY understand what you may be saying. Yes, you are correct, no message board post has "value" to the team, because no matter how hard we wish, the team will not listen to us. HOWEVER, we may not be employed by the Bears, or another football entity, but it's entirely possibly, no, PROBABLE, that our opinions on this board are probably collectively correct, and better suited for the Bears' chances of success, regardless of the amount of "value" the actual Chicago Bears organization sees in our opinions. ========= If that's not what you are getting at, then I, once again, think you are basically being ridiculous. The worse this coaching staff does, the more and more they show incompetence, the slower they make adjustments to obvious flaws in scheme and poor player personnel decisions, the quicker they make excuses, and the more frequent the Bears look unprepared and uninspired, the more likely that others will join this side of the debate...which I have believed for quite some time. It's entirely possible that someone can do something wrong for a very long time, and just because they have experience or a higher standing doesn't mean they make the correct decisions for the whole. I happen to know a DII head basketball coach who doesn't have a clue about the game, always sucked as a player, and only got the opportunity because his daddy was a DI coach somewhere. With several of these coaches and coordinators (i.e. Lovie's buddies), I don't see why this situation isn't nearly identical.
  5. Just more reason for me to hate Turner.
  6. It doesn't matter. All he'd say is... Braaaaaaaaaains...
  7. Wow. Number nine infuriates me. Ex-Bear Player of the Week: Cedric Benson became the lastest Bear to play better against them than he ever did for them. Benson had more yards at halftime (98 on 20 carries) than he did in all but two games with the Bears. He finished with a career-high 189 on 37 carries (5.1 yards per carry) and a touchdown -- rubbing the Bears noses into it with eight carries for 36 yards in the final 12 minutes and was still carrying the football into the final minute of a 45-10 rout. Benson leads the NFL in rushing with 720 yards -- and he's running behind an offensive line with three new starters and only one starter who is in the same positition as he was last season. How do they do that? Not just because Benson got revenge, but because the Bengals managed to do what the Bears seemingly never can do: take a bunch of pieces, move some around, and put together a solid group that completely dominated the Bears.
  8. Love the ending to #1 regarding Lovie: And what do we know, anyway? We're the ones who saw flaws in Rex Grossman midway through the 2006 season, thought Thomas Jones should have been the choice over Cedric Benson and didn't think Brian Urlacher was worthy of a contract extension last year. Yeah, seriously, what do we know? (the list could be longer)
  9. The real question is this: Did the staff also see the huge potential for issues, like many of us, or did they honestly think that this group would suffice at the OL? If it's the former, then I have some respect for them. If it's the latter, then it's yet another instance where the tons of information, tons of money, tons of experience, scouting department, etc., etc., didn't make them any smarter than the average Joe fan who just happens to be hard-core dedicated to the Chicago Bears.
  10. So you'd get three WRs? Still? Even though Hester and Bennett have done very well? And only one guy for the OL? Are you serious?
  11. I see that I don't have to reply. I would have done cartwheels with this draft, even though I don't know who Sidbury is. And I can guaran-damn-tee that two of those guys would be starting for the Bears on the OL right now...if not three.
  12. I think we can all agree on one thing: Omilaye sucks, and nearly everyone on this board could get at least one sack on him in a real live game.
  13. You may have coined "Zombie Smith," but I've been saying "Zombie Lovie" for a while (may have gotten that from someone on this board as well). The other term was Loathie Smith. Well, I combined them...so you only get partial credit. Zombie Loathie is the new way of referring to the Chicago Bears' current coach.
  14. I'll put in my 2 cents later, after considerable research, but I'm wondering what everyone else would do. I'm not talking about picking out all the guys who have excelled this year and shoving them into the Bears lineup. I'm talking about going with the glaring holes the Bears have, and picking the guys in the most logical order. Keep the original picks that the Bears had to give up in order to trade for Cutler, and I wonder how many holes could be filled.
  15. Very interesting thought. I'm going to create a new thread entitled, "If the Bears HADN'T traded for Jay Cutler, and you now have 20/20 hindsight, what would you have done with the draft picks?"
  16. Have you been watching the games? The Bears may need a #1, stud WR, but that is about 10th on the list of needs. If the Bears had concentrated on OL they'd DEFINITELY be winning now, because the QB/WR/TE combo looks pretty good behind a completely terrible OL, and the RB looked pretty great last year when the OL did more that imitate five zombies from a cheap B-flick. I'll give you credit though...I will now refer to Lovie Smith as Zombie Loathie.
  17. AMEN! Just look at last year's draft, pick by pick, and tell me that's not the case. The Bears passed on several good OL prospects in favor of guys who probably rated lower overall, but higher in Angelo's philosophy of drafting.
  18. Sounds familiar. I'd say that it isn't just a recent development like you assert. I still claim that Emmitt Smith was a slightly above average RB who just happened to have the best OL in history for the better part of his career.
  19. The cover-2 vs. the 2009 Bengals... DL predominantly rushes around the edges, and the DTs get no push. OL gets huge push, run-blocks well, and the RB is a sledgehammer. DBs play off the ball, never bump-and-run, and cover "areas" A talented group of WRs run free through what is essentially a timid zone, while a QB with pin-point precision continually finds the holes built into the cover-2. The 2009 Bengals are perfectly built to destroy the cover-2. Perfect Storm, indeed.
  20. Emotionally, Lovie is Spock. Coaching, he's ensign Johnson.
  21. You gotta be kidding, dude. 1) The defense MADE the Bears pass by getting torched by Palmer. 2) The offensive line gave Cutler nearly no time to pass. Put those two things together, and three interceptions is pretty minimal.
  22. Love how the replay of Payne's personal foul, which it was, was a direct result of a jersey hold by OchoCinco...easy on the slo-mo to see the jersey pull in his hand. And the very next play the LT gets away with a hold again. This has been on of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. The Bears are getting killed, and would be losing without this stuff, but with it they don't stand a chance.
  23. FINALLY!!! One of the few holds called on the Bengals offense when there have been several.
