    Quenton Nelson

Here's the thing, I don't looooove McGlinchy. I just think he's probably the best guy who might be there. I honestly don't love any of the top OTs that much, which furthers my desire to move back in the draft. As for Nelson, the play where he dove across for the opposite side rush did look nice. And he's the consensus #1 OG in the draft, but I don't think that's a good move. And I'm the "draft OL all the time"-guy. I'm not a fan of creating a hole where there is no need, and then filling it back up, when the yard is already full of holes. Sitton's contract is manageable, and fair considering his talent. Aside from that, I'm slightly worried about Nelson really high. He seems a bit clumsy at times, and lets defenders get into his chest too quickly. In the pros against some of these animals, that could be a major problem.
  2. That's one of the best posts in the history of this board. I hadn't seen any of those links. Thanks! Also, Trubisky's accuracy, which is the one thing that has given me hope about this pick since the beginning, is starting to bear fruit. I really hope it continues.
  3. Of course it’s a possibility that Cleveland, because they are Cleveland, decided to eschew all other common sense, draft value charts, common practice, and the future of their franchise. But that seems crazy even for them.
  4. I agree it’s unlikely, but fun. Last year this sort of thing could have been possibly with two trades from #3 into Mid first, and then again to late first. Stinger is probably right in terms of the reality.
  5. The website allows for a ton of trade back possibilities that are randomized.
  6. Or maybe you could take a step back and kiss your own ass. I understood HOW it works, but when I said “I don’t understand the reasoning of that decision,” I meant “I don’t understand how they thought that decision was right considering it’s essentially double jeopardy,” as Adam pointed out.
  7. It's a Bears message board. It's a part of the the Trubisky trade. Of course we're still talking about it. We will always talk about it, especially when the near impossibility of Cleveland trading up to #2 comes up. And that's regardless of whether or not Trubisky turns out to be a stud.
  8. Assuming the Bears trade down like they should, someone like Josh Jackson from Iowa could be there early/mid 2nd. Here's a quick mock I just did to play out the possibility. Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 21 (BALT): Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame ( B ) Round 2 Pick 1 (CLE): Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame (A) Round 2 Pick 6: Dorance Armstrong Jr., DE/OLB, Kansas ( B ) Round 2 Pick 7 (CLE): Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa ( B ) Round 2 Pick 21 (BALT): DaShawn Hand, DE, Alabama (A) Round 3 Pick 23 (TENN): Jamarco Jones, OT, Ohio State (A) Round 4 Pick 21 (BALT): Porter Gustin, OLB, Southern California ( C ) Round 5 Pick 6: Daniel Carlson, K, Auburn (A+)
  9. Couldn't the same be said of drafting two OLBs? Only one can start opposite of Floyd. I know, I know...rotations, but it's a similar scenario. Defense may win championships, but with the way the NFL has changed the past 20 years without the Bears adjusting, it's about time the Bears focused heavily on offense. And that means doing whatever they can to protect their franchise QB and provide him with weapons.
  10. I just simply can't agree with the bolded. Realistically, ANY team has the draft capital to move up if they are willing to mortgage their future for a player. So, sure, technically you're right. The Browns could have traded the rest of their 2017 draft, and then something significant in 2018, to move up to #2 or #3. Sure, it's possible. But so is winning the powerball. Long story short, what's possible is not probable. They weren't going to give up that much to move back into the top 3.
  11. If it's #2 or #3, it's still a dream scenario. We agree on everything.
  12. That seems completely backwards. The rule should be the team with the toughest SOS gets the advantage in tie-breakers, not the other way around. I don't understand the reasoning of that decision.
  13. I think that's how I feel about it as well. And if everything works out perfectly, Kevin White turns into the first rounder he was supposed to be. Then the Bears are stacked, and someone (likely Meredith) fights to stay on the team.
  14. That's interesting. It changes perspective on the entire deal. I didn't know it was the toughest schedule in the last 5 years.
  15. Still wrong according to common sense and the draft trade chart. http://www.talkbears.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=166749 No way Cleveland was trading up to #3. And nobody else had the fire power in terms of picks to do it either. Unless, of course, they were willing to pull a Ditka. In which case, the Bears were stupid to turn down such a deal.
  16. Agree on Trevathan and Sitton. Not Sims. Sims was and currently is redundant. The Bears can sign a cheap journeyman TE to backup Shaheen, because he absolutely needs to be fully integrated into the offense as the starter.
  17. I don't know why they went away from him. But I highly doubt he's a problem off the field. He's a really well rounded person from a great family, and has a wonderful support structure.
  18. Pretty much how I feel, but I'd rather go with Jordan Matthews from Buffalo than Jarvis Landry. I think Matthews has been horrible underused in Buffalo, and would excel in Chicago. Also, he'll be much cheaper than Landry. My second guy is inconsequential because he'll never see the field behind Meredith, Inman, White, Ridley, and Matthews.
  19. Denver and Indy still have to play one another. Cleveland has #1 locked up, but if the Bears lose out, they are guaranteed to be ahead of at least one more team.
  20. You're conflating two things. I'm not talking about helping the D. Also, I completely disagree that adding two 1st-round talents to the Chicago Bears' OL wouldn't help. The Bears OL is still a weakness, just not as great a weakness as it once was. Leno is still average at best, Sitton is playing pretty well, Whitehair has been significantly worse this year, Long has been injured and not as good, and Massie sucks. McGlinchey would easily beat out Leno before the second preseason game, and Braden Smith would probably beat out Massie. I don't like the idea of two rookies on the OL, but if the talent is far superior, then the years of experience don't matter as much.
  21. Nah. A top 5 D and a garbage OL turns him into a shell-shocked QB, like David Carr or Jay Cutler.
  22. I agree on the concept of pass rushers, but I think you can’t have enough OL help for a young QB, and this is a help Trubisky draft. OL and WRs!
  23. Excellent summary and spot on. That's all that matters in the near-term.
  24. If there really is a football God, White returns next year, is fully healthy, and finally shows everyone why he was selected so highly. Then, completely out of gratitude for the patience the Bears have shown him, he signs a team-friendly deal for a few years.
  25. This all smells of Martellus Bennett, and how he was the guy targeted all too often when Jay Cutler threw a suspicious interception. Several of them were proven to be Bennett's fault, so this is not all that unfathomable to me.
