  1. I'm not sure how it relates to a potential hiring of McDaniels, but I've done what you're saying. And I lost big, but it wasn't because of my risk tolerance. I lost multiple good hands when people just had great hands, because I'm just not that lucky.

    Draft QB Needs

Carson Palmer just retired, and that makes the Cardinals a LOT more interesting in trading up to get one of the QBs.
  3. What would you guys think of a college HC moving up into the Bears' picture? I'm talking about guys who have been thought of as odd balls with talent or flair. Guys who have been known to produce. Thoughts?
  4. I wouldn't mind McDaniels. I've always been more on the side that doesn't care about the details as long as the Bears win. If the Bears coach bends the rules a bit and is thought of negatively across the league, fine with me. I want wins.
  5. I've watched enough of Chubb to believe he's not quick enough to be a 3-4 OLB who can be relied upon to drop into coverage, and his pass rush skills are more suited to a hand in the dirt than standing on the edge. The scheme flexibility would be nice, but it's mainly to utilize his skills when using the traditional 4-3. The near consensus is that he fits best as a 4-3 DE, and is somewhat of a tweener for 3-4 defenses. I agree with that line of thought. He doesn't have the suddenness or speed, or ability to bend the edge, that guys like Floyd and Key have. Having said all that, if he added 25lbs or so of muscle/bulk, I could see him as an Akiem Hicks counterpart. Or if he lost a little bit of weight, it could be interesting to see if he gained any more burst. What I see is potential in Key. He's the same type of player Floyd was coming out. If Pace was enamored with Floyd, he should be enamored with Key. Floyd: 6'6", 240lbs, 4.5 sacks, 17 sacks career Key: 6'6", 240lbs, 4.0 sacks, 20 sacks career They have the same type of explosion, and one would hope could be used to terrorize an opponent's QB.
  6. I’d like that scenario quite a bit.
  7. Do you want to keep Fangio? If so, where does Chubb fit in the 3-4? He’s not a 3-4 DE or a 3-4 OLB.
  8. The incompetence of Low Gains today makes me laugh at anyone who thinks these guys are football gurus because they managed to network their way into the NFL. He’s not offensively intelligent or knowledgeable enough to run a top level high school offense, much less an NFL offense.
  9. What do the Bears need worse? OT. What should the Bears do if they stay at their spot? Arden Key, because the OTs aren’t worth that high of a pick.
  10. I’m excited about the possibility of a new head coach, who will hopefully be offensive minded, creative, and able to alter the future of the offense so that the Trubisky draft gamble can reach its peak.
  11. I’m not. This is something that has been mentioned in previous years with this OL and other iterations of it.
  12. That's awesome! Thanks!! I knew there had to be a remote possibility if NFL hasn't given the bye to a second NFC team.
  13. I don't really dislike Williams, but I just think he's been pumped up a bit too much. Maybe McGlinchey has been too? Honestly, I don't see how the Bears can intelligently stay at #7 unless they love Calvin Ridley or Arden Key. In the top 7, there is Barkley (RB), Chubb (DE), Fitzpatrick (S), Rosen (QB), Jackson (QB), as well as Key and Ridley. The QBs and RB are absolute not going to get drafted, and I don't think Chubb fits as a 3-4 DE. That leaves Fitzpatrick, who is awesome, but would be a horrible pick considering the Bears' young duo. Someone will want to move into that spot to reach on Baker Mayfield or Josh Allen. And if Sam Darnold comes out, that makes the #7 pick worth its weight in gold, because one of the perceived blue-chippers falls.
  14. He also mentioned recently that he has not had trouble finding employment in the NFL. He is overly confident for someone who is almost certainly getting fired about 3:01pm on Sunday.
  15. Yep. Arden Key is just about the only guy I want the Bears drafting in the first round if they go for an OLB. Otherwise I want OL.
  16. I've watched a Davenport highlight or two, and I don't see any way he's a 3-4 OLB in the NFL. He'll end up as a 4-3 DE if I had to guess (also mentioned here). He's a freak alright, but he's not the right person for 3-4OLB. Hell, he'd be better for the Bears if he gained 20-30 lbs of muscle and played 3-4 DE, since all he does is bull rush and set the edge.
  17. I absolutely do not like Carter. I think he's going to be a massive bust. I just don't see the explosion out of the gates teams need from a 3-4 OLB. His rush skills are very limited as well.
  18. This seems like a match made in heaven. A team has... 1. A troubled locker room and needs a disciplinarian. 2. Plenty of talent. 3. An aging, veteran QB. 4. A bad defense that needs to be turned around by a defensive mind. 5. A new GM looking for a head coach. It would not shock me in the least if Fox gets fired, and immediately gets thrown into the mix as the #1 name for the Giants.
  19. Even better. I guess they're not even considering the possibility the Bears win, which would then give them the possibility of the #2 seed. I haven't worked out the various tie-breakers, but the NFL.com site doesn't have the queens as having an auto-bye yet, so there is still a chance for the Rams. The Bears should be drafting 7th.
  20. Honestly, the entire list save one person is fine with me. But there is no way in hell I'd cut Sitton. If healthy, he's probably the third best player on the entire offense behind Howard and Long.
  21. I agree with you. #7 looks like the likely spot. I really think the Broncos beat the Chiefs. The Chiefs have virtually nothing to play for. Also, the Niners are on fire. I also think the 49ers beat the Rams. By the time they play, the Bears will have already lost to the Vikings, and the Vikings will have locked up the #2 seed. That means the Rams have nothing to play for.
  22. If I were making the shots, we wouldn't use either tag. He's not really worth the $12 Transition Tag, and he's definitely not worth the $14M Franchise Tag. But if a team were thinking about it, you're right about the minimum $2M add-on that makes the pick fairly untouchable. And we all know there isn't a team in the league that's trading away two 1st round picks for Kyle Fuller. The best option is to offer him fair value and hope he stays with the team. Key term: Fair Value. That is in the eye of the beholder.
  23. The "how many WRs"-argument is the same as the "how many QBs"-argument. Can't do much if the QB is constantly under duress. As a QB you can't settle or relax into an offense, much less make a 2nd/3rd read. As an offense, you can't have long developing routes that spread and confuse the defense more. Therefore, the WRs have been hindered by the same OL. I've said it a hundred times on this board. I don't give a damn how much you improve the QB and WR positions. If the QB is constantly running and littered with grass stains at the end of the game, the skill positions will never see their true potential, much less put in stellar years.
  24. Dude, you've tried to use that Vandy line before and it was disproven by Jay's own interviews. He ran at Vandy because his line was mostly comprised of scholar-athletes, and were being blitzed by athlete-scholars. He was simply not a scrambler by design like he was in Denver. He was on the bottom dweller in the SEC and had to run for his life quite a bit. Denver was a smart offense that didn't really make him scramble so much as roll out and bootleg.
  25. I'm not saying you're suggesting they franchise Fuller, but if the Bears were to actually franchise him, everyone involved in the decision should be fired the next day. He is nowhere near a player that should be franchised. That would put him near the top salary at his position in the NFL, and he's not worth it.
