Funny, because that's almost my nightmare draft.

Bears 2017 Schedule Week 1- Sept 10 Falcons (11-5) - Loss. Their offense is too strong. Week 2- Sept 17 at Bucs (9-7) - Win. Last year was a fluke. Week 3- Sept 24 Steelers (11-5) - Loss. They're one of the elite teams in the NFL. Week 4- Sept 28 at Packers (10-6) (THU) - Win. The last four wins against the Packers have come on Monday or Thursday. Week 5- Oct. 9 Vikings (8-8) (SUN NIGHT) - Win. Extra days to prepare and a seemingly perpetual split with the Queens. Week 6- Oct. 15 at Ravens (8-8) - Win. Their record last year is deceiving. They played a horrible schedule. Week 7- Oct. 22 Panthers (6-10) - Win. One of the worst passing D's in the NFL. Glennon and the new WRs torch them. Week 8- Oct. 29 at Saints (7-9) - Loss. Their offense is too strong. Week 9- Nov. 5 bye Week 10- Nov. 12 Packers (10-6) - Loss. I can't remember the last time the Bears swept the Packers. Week 11- Nov. 19 Lions (9-7) - Win. At Chicago, the Bears were healthy and the offense did what it wanted. At Detroit, Daniel Brown (who?) was instrumental. Week 12- Nov. 26 at Eagles (7-9) - Win. Carson Wentz is still green, throws picks, and they won't be able to dominate TOP now that Jordan Howard is starting. Week 13- Dec. 3 49ers (2-14) - Win. LOL. There is no doubt on this one. Week 14- Dec. 10 at Bengals (6-9-1) - Loss. Week 15- Dec. 16 at Lions (9-7) - Loss. Season split. Seems likely. Week 16- Dec. 24 Browns (1-15) - Win. They're going to stink again, and likely have a rookie QB starting. Week 17- Dec. 31 at Vikings (8-8) - Loss. I'm saying 9-7. And I don't think it's unrealistic.

Don't be so sure. GB has owned Chicago as of late, but the last 3-4 wins by Chicago have been on primetime games.

Not to mention the fact he has at least 2 concussions while in college, likely more, and one concussion in HS. People around these parts (mostly Auburn fans in the state of Alabama) make jokes about him eventually being retarded because of all the concussions he's had (many suspect there have been several others).

Interesting thought... If the Bears went with Hooker or Adams in the first round (ideally Hooker in this scenario), and Peppers in the second round, they could ease Peppers into the role. Quentin Demps only has 2017 as a big cap hit year, and could easily be gone after the season. Or kept around as the backup. With Hooker at FS and Peppers at SS, I could see them being the best Safety tandem in the NFL. For that matter, Adams in RD1 and Budda Baker in RD2 also looks enticing.

My thoughts almost exactly. I prefer Jonathan Allen in RD1, but the comments above are exactly how I feel. I'm not as big a fan of Mahomes as many (think he'll be a bust), but that has to be the thought process. For the record, if the QBs and the OTs aren't there, I think my pick is Budda Baker.

Hear me out... The Browns are the Browns. They could easily pass on Myles Garrett. There is also every indication they love Mitch Trubisky. I don't think it's likely, but they could very well pass on Garrett. There is at least some speculation out there about whether or not Garrett takes plays off, or if he's lazy. So we get to the Niners. They're QBs are Matt Barkley and Brian Hoyer. Remember them? Do you think those two are the future? I don't even think they believe they are locked in as starter and backup, whichever order is inconsequential. So naturally the Niners are planning on QB early. They HAVE to be. Am I talking myself into this? I don't think it's likely, but it sure seems more likely than it did months/weeks ago. That's the dream scenario to the start of this draft.

Peppers will be there in round 2. Do we pull the trigger on him? I could see it.

Not bad. I'd rather go elsewhere for premiere talent than grab Mahomes, but both are damn good drafts. But no QB at all?

Corey Davis. I think he's the next Megatron or Moss. But he's nowhere near where the Bears will pick unless he drops to the early second.

I like them both more than Kaaya. You're right about them all havin problems, but I actually like Peterman quite a bit. He's underrated. He throws people open. That's a great trait for he NFL where windows are smaller.

My bad. That was just a mistake. I still would hate it as ILB.

Other than Kaaya, I sort of like it. I just don't like Kaaya at all. He buckles under pressure something serious. Where Cutler just lost mechanic discipline and goes into the middle of fight/flight, Kaaya is all flight. I also don't like the fact that nearly every deep ball he throws up is a 50/50 or underthrown ball.

Assuming it all goes well, all the realistic breaks happen for the Bears, what's your dream draft? I'm basing mine off of the idea that the Bears: A-Will not trade down B-Have 7 picks and need 7-8 positions (DE,FS,CB,TE,WR,OT,QB,OLB) C-Myles Garrett will not make it to #3 1. Jonathan Allen, DE, Bama - He makes the front seven scary. His addition makes both McPhee and Goldman more dangerous, and frees up LBs to do damage. 2. Ryan Ramcyzk, OT, Wisconsin - The run on "exciting" players and QBs causes Ramcyzk to drop right into Chicago's lap. Perfect name for a Bear. 3. Obi Melifonwu, FS, UConn - It's hard to say if he goes in the 2nd or 3rd, but many say 3rd. I'm hoping the Bears got a good read on him and think he's the FS answer. 4. Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson - I still think I like him more than the other TEs. Some question his drive or skill based on Clemson's system, but I see a guy that just knows how to find the soft spot in the zone. 4. Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia - Liked him for some time. He's tall, rangy, great hands, and is a play-maker. He's exactly who you want at CB. 5. Chad Kelly, QB, OleMiss - Huge upside pick here. I think he's got more raw talent than anyone at the QB position this year. He's a great QB to stash and develop. 7. Kenny Golladay, WR, Northern Illinois - The local kid, "Go Go Golladay" is given a chance to shine near home. There are just too many names I like this year. Given the fact that DE, OT, and FS were not addressed in FA, I think that's the best approach. My 1B option is to go with Malik Hooker or Jamal Adams in the first, and Tanoh Kpassagnon from Villanova in the third. What's your dream draft?

I think if you go back, you'll find that several people mentioned Floyd last year and White the year before. I honestly thought you were saying you'd like the Bears to pick Foster. I mean, you said, "I personally wouldn't mind if they chose Foster at three or whatever 1st round position they end up at."

I agree, but you'd be surprised at what people think. Even in this thread Alaska said he wouldn't mind an OLB. When the Bears met with Foster, it became a thought process some came up with considering Trevathan's injury and Chicago's constant search for the next great MLB.

I'd throw up if they picked Foster. ILB is about the tenth most position of need, and there are similarly rated players at positions of greater need.

I actually kind of like that draft (assuming it's Watson and not Trubisky), but I think that draft gets Fox fired. There's still a hole at DE with Unrein, still a hole at FS with whoever, and that means the defense won't really improve much unless someone like Bullard steps up. Meanwhile, the RD1 QB sits for at least half the season behind Glennon (while Engram splits time with two other TEs), at which point either Glennon has shocked everyone and continues to start, or the rookie comes in for reps in games the Bears are likely to lose as a result.

I've seen rumors about LB being a secondary priority for the Chicago Bears recently, and I think it's borderline crazy. Way too many other needs. If the Bears do need a guy, however, because they're worried about Trevathan's injury, I think they need to find the next Kwiatkoski. They should look for: -ILB -Tackling machine -Unheralded by national media -Missing one or two "must have" physical traits Last year I was all aboard the Kwiatkoski express, and this year I am starting to really like another guy of the same mold. Ladies and Gents, I present to you: Blair Brown, LB, Ohio Watch this highlight and tell me you don't love him. I see a player who willingly engages blockers and sheds them, a LB who runs through offensive linemen regularly, diagnoses the play with lightning speed, and absolutely destroys screens like he was in the offensive huddle. He had 128 tackles and 4.5 sacks last year, and right now he's flying way under the radar. He's the 27th ranked OLB on Walter's rankings, and that's fine with me. I think he really an ILB. And for those of you who are PFF fans, he's apparently the second rated run defense LB in the nation, behind Reuben Foster. What a coincidence, the Bears have multiple 4th round draft picks this year. I wouldn't mind seeing Brown picked up with the second of those picks. If he's there in the 6th, that's a no-brainer.

I do this topic each year. Here's my nightmare draft: 1. Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio St - With Fuller, Prince, Cooper, and LeBlanc, I don't think it's really a big problem. There are much bigger holes at S, T, and DE. And there are much better players available at two of those positions. 2. Carl Lawson, DE/OLB, Auburn - A tweener who has some eye-opening physical abilities and traits. I'll hate this pick, and any other tweener like him. 3. Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami - Lots of QBs go in 1st round, nothing happens in the 2nd, and the Bears make a nervous reach for a guy who won't be good. 4. Malachi Dupre, WR, LSU - WR with measurables but doesn't know how to use them. Won't be able to "out-athlete" players in the NFL. 4. Samaje Perine, RB, OK - I do not want ANY RB in this draft, unless it's a ridiculous value like McCaffrey in the 3rd. 5. Jeremy Sprinkle, TE, Arkansas - In a deep TE draft, he's the first guy outside of the group of about ten that I like. This would suck. 6-7. Safe players. Late round picks should be used on huge upside guys, even if it means those guys are rough around the edges.

I think it starts pretty amazing. Adams is easily the top SS in the draft, and has ability to play as a hybrid S. And Humphries has been talked about as the #1 CB at times, and mocked into the middle of the first round. Getting him in the second, when he could potentially be the #1 CB, would be great value. As for Watkins, I find it hard to believe he'd be good value in the 3rd. He's not suited for 5T, and would be a backup at best. With WRs like Zay Jones and Cooper Kupp, as well as TEs like Jordan Leggett, available in most mocks, I find it hard to believe Watkins is good value for the Bears.

To me it's Allen still at #1. That makes the most sense. Second is Hooker, depending on health. He's the true FS. Third is Adams. I really don't want Lattimore at 3.

In regards to the bolded, that's what everyone does. Virtually nobody sits a top 5 pick. That's why the Rams and Jeff Fisher got blistered for it last year. If the Bears drafted a top-5 QB and he didn't start, then Glennon better have a monster year. Otherwise everyone would be calling for Fox and Pace to step down, just like what happened to the Rams. And if that top-5 QB sat for more than one year behind an under-performing Glennon (or whoever), but then went on to a HOF career, it's a guarantee he would be doing it under a different coach and GM, because their asses would be gone for not starting a QB who should have obviously been starting to begin with. The Fartv & Rodgers comparison is weak for multiple reasons. First, they drafted Rodgers when Fartv was still a top QB in the league. Of course Rodgers wasn't going to get starts. Second, Rodgers wasn't a top-5 pick. I'm sure if the Packers were bad enough to get a top-5 pick, they wouldn't have been picking a QB to sit behind Farv for 3 years. Third, Rodgers' drop to the late first was a fluke. He was thought of as the #1 overall guy just a few weeks before the draft, and then the bizarre situation of his fall became reality. When he fell into the Packers' lap, they were in the position of a playoff team that had a top 5 offense, and figured to continue their winning ways. They were picking from a position of power (something the Bears obviously can't do). Thankfully for us, their leading rusher and receiver went down the next year, and they sucked.

You're right about the cash not being an issue, but that's not a sound way to run a franchise. You don't spend huge money on someone you plan on sitting on the bench just because you have extra cash. If the Bears pick a QB at #3 this year, I'll be very upset. It will be a bad move for a variety of reasons, one of which is the Glennon signing. A #3 pick should be a person that comes in and start immediately. If it's a non-QB, that person should make an immediate impact because, presumably, they're better than the player at the position at which they were drafted. If it's a QB, you want that guy in immediately to get as many reps and knowledge as possible. Sure, there are some guys who have sat for a few years and have become very good, but the general consensus is that a 1st round QB needs to get in and get the reps.
