  1. Deep thoughts like that must evade Pace. Before this year's trade I wasn't sort of on the fence about him, now I don't think he is very good at being a GM.

    WTF

    1. Just because others offer more doesn't mean you have to outbid. At this point I think Pace would pay $10 for a dollar meal at McDonalds if he thought someone in front of him might order the same thing. 2. See #1. 3. Holes aren't covered by a franchise QB if he's on his ass half the game and the D can't stop anyone. 4. How do you figure? What if Glennon lights it up? What if he looks great? Then he's suuuuper cheap next year at less than $5M. If they wanted to waste money, they should have overspent for some other free agent like Calais Campbell or Alshon Jeffrey.

    WTF

There shouldn't need to be a QB transition for the #2 pick in the entire freaking draft.

    WTF

I think it's freaking horrible for a variety of reasons. 1. The value to trade up was too much. 2. The trade was unnecessary since the Niners would have picked Thomas anyway. 3. The team has too many holes to trade up. 4. Glennon's contract now is wasted money. That's just to start. Nevermind the accuracy issues.

    Trade down time!

And now the Niners pick Thomas, the guy they were going to pick anyway. Great trade.

    Trade down time!

I love how the Bears pick him, and I immediately get sarcastic emails from friends who are fans of other teams. And then the announcers on ESPN start talking about all the shit he does poorly. Now the #2 pick in the entire NFL draft is going to sit behind Glennon. Just makes no sense whatsoever. So either the Glennon move was horrible, or the Trubisky pick is horrible. No two ways around it. And Trubisky would have been there at #3. Just an overall baffling move.

    Trade down time!

Way to go Pace. Just absolutely ruined the draft for me and nearly every other Chicago Bear fan.

    Trade down time!

Horrible. I don't care who they pick. Horrible. Giving up picks that we couldn't afford. Horrible.
  10. WOW! That's great inside information from Kaplan. I would not be shocked at all if they picked him at #2. That would be great in my opinion, because I think he's the third best DE in the draft behind Garrett and Allen. That would leave the Bears with the choice of Allen, Adams, Hooker, or a trade down for those QB-thirsty teams.

    One Last Guess

You don't sign a guy to a $6M contract for depth. Coop's starting. And Prince isn't a #1, but he's a fine #2. He's been solid his entire career, but gets a bad rap for not living up to the draft status. Fuller, yeah, I agree he's been a disappointment. But as the #3 guy, he's solid. You're right about duration, however, because none are long term. LeBlanc on the other hand is someone the staff appears to love, so he's not going anywhere. Lattimore would just make very little sense when considering team need in conjunction with BPA.
  12. Cleveland is hunting, and wants to move up from 12. https://twitter.com/MikeSilver/status/857307213794349057 Pace has taken calls about the #3 pick. https://twitter.com/CEmma670/status/857251302572789762 Let's make it happen!! Cleveland gives their #12, their 2nd rounder, their 3rd rounder, and a 6th rounder to the Bears for #3.
  13. I understand the financial point you're making, and realize the double safety move would be unprecedented, but I actually think it would be a good decision in rare cases. The Bears are in a position where the realistically need multiple players, and they have the option of making several positions "pretty good," or taking one position group and turning it into game changing group. In each of the following cases, I think it would be transformative for the team. RD1: Hooker & RD2: Peppers RD1: Adams & RD2: Baker Let's say you could draft the following...wouldn't you? RD1: SS Troy Polamalu RD2: FS Mike Brown

    Trubisky Rumor

Flawed logic in your opinion. I don't think it is. I think there are a few guys that are much better talent overall than Watson, and even more than the other QBs. I think Watson at 3 is a reach, regardless of whether or not he's a potential franchise QB. Key word: potential. If the Bears move back to #12, it's assumed that handful of guys (e.g. Garrett, Allen, Adams, Hooker) is gone. Going by your philosophy, anyone who likes a first round QB, regardless of position, should mortgage their entire franchise's future and move up to #1 in order to get their guy.

    Trubisky Rumor

That late, Kelly can smell like Manziel all he wants. If he turns into the good version, he's a huge steal. If he turns into the bad version, he's an easy cut. As for the two OTs, you and every other Bears who wants a franchise QB should want the same. Haven't we proven the concept of putting a good QB behind a shit line enough times? The Bears have had one season of good OL play in forever, and that just happens to be the year the Bears went to the Super Bowl.

Out of all the realistic names (which excludes guys like OJ Howard), Lattimore makes me the most sick. That would be a horrible pick. With Cooper, Amukamara, Fuller, and LeBlanc, the Bears have enough depth and talent that they don't need to pick a CB until the mid-rounds.

    Trubisky Rumor

Thanks. I'm not really behind Watson at #3. If they stay at #3, I want Jonathan Allen. But if they trade down, it's a perfect spot to grab the QB of the future and build an offense around him for the future.

    Trubisky Rumor

If they offered that WITHOUT the extra 6th, I shake their hand and turn in the trade within seconds. 1-12: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson - He might be there later, but why dick around? 2-33: Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin - Got a franchise guy, now he needs protection. 2-37: Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan - Got a franchise guy with protection, now he needs a favorite target. 2-53: Malik McDowell, DE/DT, Michigan State - Elite talent with some inconsistencies. He starts over Unrein and could rotate into NT in a pinch. 3-98: Desmond King, S, Iowa - Enough offense to make the franchise QB feel good, let's fill holes on D. King makes a good transition to S. Ball hawk. 4: Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia - Starting corner with good size, good instincts, and great on the break. A definite ball hawk. 4: Michael Roberts, TE, Toledo - Best blocking TE in the draft, to protect that franchise QB (sensing a trend?). He's also a dangerous red zone threat (16 TDs last year). 5: Chad Wheeler, OT, USC - His character concerns cause him to crash, but . He lets defenders get into to his body too much, but otherwise I like what I see. One more guy to solidify the protection and make Watson feel relaxed in the pocket. 7: Chad Kelly, QB, Ole Miss - It's time to really invest in the QB position. Kelly has great skill and could stand to mature. Perfect bench QB with huge upside.
  19. Funny, because that's almost my nightmare draft.
  20. Bears 2017 Schedule Week 1- Sept 10 Falcons (11-5) - Loss. Their offense is too strong. Week 2- Sept 17 at Bucs (9-7) - Win. Last year was a fluke. Week 3- Sept 24 Steelers (11-5) - Loss. They're one of the elite teams in the NFL. Week 4- Sept 28 at Packers (10-6) (THU) - Win. The last four wins against the Packers have come on Monday or Thursday. Week 5- Oct. 9 Vikings (8-8) (SUN NIGHT) - Win. Extra days to prepare and a seemingly perpetual split with the Queens. Week 6- Oct. 15 at Ravens (8-8) - Win. Their record last year is deceiving. They played a horrible schedule. Week 7- Oct. 22 Panthers (6-10) - Win. One of the worst passing D's in the NFL. Glennon and the new WRs torch them. Week 8- Oct. 29 at Saints (7-9) - Loss. Their offense is too strong. Week 9- Nov. 5 bye Week 10- Nov. 12 Packers (10-6) - Loss. I can't remember the last time the Bears swept the Packers. Week 11- Nov. 19 Lions (9-7) - Win. At Chicago, the Bears were healthy and the offense did what it wanted. At Detroit, Daniel Brown (who?) was instrumental. Week 12- Nov. 26 at Eagles (7-9) - Win. Carson Wentz is still green, throws picks, and they won't be able to dominate TOP now that Jordan Howard is starting. Week 13- Dec. 3 49ers (2-14) - Win. LOL. There is no doubt on this one. Week 14- Dec. 10 at Bengals (6-9-1) - Loss. Week 15- Dec. 16 at Lions (9-7) - Loss. Season split. Seems likely. Week 16- Dec. 24 Browns (1-15) - Win. They're going to stink again, and likely have a rookie QB starting. Week 17- Dec. 31 at Vikings (8-8) - Loss. I'm saying 9-7. And I don't think it's unrealistic.
  21. Don't be so sure. GB has owned Chicago as of late, but the last 3-4 wins by Chicago have been on primetime games.
  22. Not to mention the fact he has at least 2 concussions while in college, likely more, and one concussion in HS. People around these parts (mostly Auburn fans in the state of Alabama) make jokes about him eventually being retarded because of all the concussions he's had (many suspect there have been several others).
  23. Interesting thought... If the Bears went with Hooker or Adams in the first round (ideally Hooker in this scenario), and Peppers in the second round, they could ease Peppers into the role. Quentin Demps only has 2017 as a big cap hit year, and could easily be gone after the season. Or kept around as the backup. With Hooker at FS and Peppers at SS, I could see them being the best Safety tandem in the NFL. For that matter, Adams in RD1 and Budda Baker in RD2 also looks enticing.
