I've been on record numerous times about bad character guys. Yes is my answer as long as they're not Aaron Hernandez character guys. If they can help on the field, yes. If they can be signed to a incentive-heavy contract that allows the Bears to cut their ass when/if things get bad, hell yes. Having said that, is there really room on the roster? Wheaton just got paid money to be a starter. White is a first rounder that will be given every opportunity to prove his worth. Wright was brought in to fill in the gaps, and has good potential. Meredith can't be ignored after his year last year. Bellamy, Braverman, Randle...that fills things out. I don't see how the Bears could go after Floyd right now.

Lattimore would be an atrocious #3 pick. He's injury prone, a one-year hit, and overrated. If Sidney Jones were healthy, Lattimore wouldn't even be the top CB.

I love OL more than anyone on this board, and I don't even think that's a smart pick. There should be a ton of prime talent available in the 2nd round, and Dawkins is more of a late 2nd/early 3rd guy, IMHO. Names that could be there in the second include Ryan Ramczyk and Garett Bolles, both of which are thought of more as OTs and graded much higher than Dawkins. Not to mention the fact that there are a bunch of other great names likely available early 2nd.

That's only because the year before the Bears had a trio of draft busts playing LB (Bostic, Greene, McClellin), and an undrafted FA Christian Jones in the mix. That group was horrible. They didn't grab ILBs in FA because it was such a key position. They grabbed them because the Bears were simply atrocious at the position and forced to make a FA signing or two. You're right about injuries though...and that's why they should look for another Kwit prospect, in the 4th round or later.

I keep seeing mocks and discussion that list OJ Howard as a possible pick. I just can't see it. In fact, it borderline pisses me off. As far as I'm aware, #3 would be the highest drafted TE ever. On top of that, many are saying this is the deepest TE class ever. A top-5 pick on OJ Howard makes so little sense it's baffling. So please, anyone, convince me why it's remotely a smart idea.
-
Agree. ILB is way down on the list because ILB is a hole-filler in this D. Read play, fill gap, make tackle. Sometimes drop to deep middle and cover the TE. If the NT is doing his job the ILBs don't have to be incredible, just competent tacklers. Those kind of guys are a dime a dozen, 4th and later. It's also where I think college "tackling machines" who lack ideal measurements work really well.

Positions? No. Players? Yuck. Original: 1. Jonathan Allen, DE/DT, Alabama 2. Ahkello Witherspoon, CB, Colorado 3. Carlos Henderson, WR, Louisiana Tech 4. Adam Shaheen, TE, Ashland 4. Erik Magnuson, OT, Michigan 5. C.J. Beathard, QB, Iowa The number of players at those positions could have provided a much more favorable draft than the one above. For instance, this draft would get me excited. 1. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson 2. Zay Jones, WR, East Carolina 3. Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson 4. Daeshon Hall, DE, Texas A&M 4. Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia 5. Conor McDermott, OT, UCLA I'd also like this one a lot more than their mock. 1. Jonathan Allen, DE/DT, Alabama 2. Evan Engram, TE, Ole Miss 3. Nathan Peterman, QB, Pittsburgh 4. K.D. Cannon, WR, Baylor 4. Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia 5. Chad Wheeler, OT, USC I guess the point I'm making is, their picks are horrible.

It's interesting that until this post, I didn't think of a situation. In my mind, and most reports, Demps is the SS. So I envisioned a situation where Adams is drafted and moved to FS. I never even considered Demps as SS, Adams being drafted as SS, and Demps being moved to FS. That is how much I considered him the locked in SS. I just figured that because Adams is the superstar, he'd be asked to make the move to FS.
-
I think there is zero doubt Demps is the SS, and the only reason it's not 100% confirmed is because the Bears list everyone as DB on the official site. Is he the best pass defender? I don't know. Could be Coop or Prince. The 6 INTs for Demps last year are definitely not the norm for him. Otherwise he would have done it before. He has shown, however, to be a pretty good tackler in the box, something a SS usually does. Comparing him to the weak FS options on the team is an entirely different issue.
-
I'd be very happy about this mock, but I don't know Bowser well. I think I'd rather see a 5T DE than an OLB.
-
Demps is a SS. That's not even something people debate. Here's the Texans depth chart last year. Here's local media regarding his position. Here's where a draft site says the Bears might get Adams even though they have a SS. Here's where he's complimented for being a good line of scrimmage defender. And here's the Chicago Bears depth chart. Here's another. Demps is the SS. A better argument would be whether or not Adams can play FS.

I clicked this and made it through 4 rounds with growing nausea. Clicked on the 5th round and http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2017.php

1-Garrett 2-Allen 3-Hooker 4-Adams 5-Watson 6-Thomas 7-Robinson 8-Foster 9-Lattimore 10-Williams I don't think the Bears will get past #2 on this board. If so, I think Allen and Hooker may have just enough concern, and that makes Adams a good, albeit not perfect, fit. I hate the idea of a TE in the top ten. Howard is out. I don't like Barrett. Too small for 3-4 DE.
-
Like? I LOVE it. It reeks of desperation and cheese.

I don't know why, but I'm still not on board the Jamal Adams bandwagon. Part of it is the same as bradjock's opinion on safety. Sure, having Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu is amazing, but safeties can often perform well with average talent. The way they do that is with a pass rush. That's why I've wanted Jonathan Allen from the start. He's a monster. And he's be an incredible upgrade over Mitch Unrein. I think he'd be a bigger upgrade than Adams would be at S. The other problem is that Adams is a SS, not a real FS. The Bears just signed Demps for that role. So picking Adams at #3 wouldn't be a perfect fit. How Hooker, if he weren't injured, would be the perfect fit.
-
Personally, I hope he ends up on the Giants somehow. I'd love to see what would happen on the practice field, and in the locker room, with him, Marshall, and OBJ.
-
He started for the Saints last year. Got torched by Julio Jones, but he's a serviceable DB. This move should scare the hell out of Fuller, LeBlanc, and the two or three other guys at the bottom of the depth chart. This looks like a lot of Pace moves. He looks for guys who haven't quite hit their mark, but have upside. Other teams may look for guys who have already shown a bit more, and are potentials for exploding into a superstar. Pace is more of a Walmart shopper. I like that, because he's just trying to enhance the overall talent level of the roster, which is sorely needed.
-
If that's the case, there is no way Leggett is rated below Kittle. Leggett is definitely higher. I think this would be my ranking at the current moment. Howard-rd1 Engram-rd2 Njoku-rd2 Leggett-rd3 Everett-rd3 Kittle-rd3 Hodges-rd4
-
I don't think he's nearly as good as the reputation says. Their secondary is a collective beast. Having said that, CBs appear to age in dog years at a certain point (remember Revis island?), and I'm not sure I'd like him on the team. Last but not least, but probably most important, is the fact that the Bears have a fairly deep CB roster at the moment. Cooper is starting. Period. Amukamara is starter quality. Porter is starter quality. Fuller is on a contract year, so he'll play hard and appear starter quality. Leblanc looked promising last year.
-
You left out Jordan Leggett. He's probably just after Engram.
-
This is easy. The Defense. Hence my concept of an all-defense draft. If the Bears drafted all defense this year, and spent one of those picks on an OT, they would likely make a big jump forward because last year's D was on the verge of being pretty good. 1. Jonathan Allen, DE, Bama 2. Budda Baker, FS, Wash 3. etc.. Problem is, everyone wants a QB this year too. So now the Bears have 7 picks, 5 of which are on D. Oops, this is an incredible TE draft class! Make that 4 D, 3 O. And now we're away from the "one side of the ball"-concept.
-
Easy, not Howard. TE is not as big a need as multiple other positions, and this is a crazy deep TE draft. It wouldn't be smart to go TE in the 1st round, regardless of the position the Bears are in.

While most of us are all about DE, S, CB, QB, there hasn't been much talk about OLB as a selection. 1. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson 2. TJ Watt, OLB, Wisconsin 3. Cooper Kupp, WR, EWU 4. Justin Evans, S, TX A&M 4. Rasul Douglas, CB, WVU 5. George Kittle, TE, Iowa 7. Mack Hollins, WR, UNC Read his rationale here. I don't like doubling up on WR, but that's a different take than we've been seeing lately.
