Agree. I've been saying it for a while.
  2. That's twisted logic. You can't know what would have happened. Forte could have had a great year, similar to Howard, and there is absolutely no way to know who who have been drafted instead of Howard. Could have been Joe Haeg and we wouldn't need a tackle. Or Tyreek Hill, and the return game would be solved.
  3. I'd hate to see Goldman moved outside. He does not have the speed or lateral mobility for the 5T.
  4. He was released and appears to be an absolute locker room treasure. And that's on top of being a damn fine fit for the 3-4. His stats drop off is directly related to the move to a 4-3. He could be a great mid-range guy. Of course, OLB is about the last position of need, so there is that.
  5. Yeah, that one pisses me off. The Bears should have thrown the house at AJ Bouye once option 1 was off the table.
  6. He's got a better catch percentage than Miller, and he has been sitting behind Clay and Cameron for a few years. Could just be a matter of opportunity. Of course, there is his concussion history. This feels just like the Glennon signing. If he steps up to his potential, he could have great upside. If.
  7. I won't go that far. I do think the offense has a good chance of sucking, but the defense should surprise if they aren't loaded with injuries.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cordarrelle Patterson brought in. I think he could do well in Chicago. With Glennon and the current WRs, this is shaping up to be a "everyone better step up to their potential"-year for Ryan Pace. Otherwise...he gone.
  9. How can you say that? When making ANY move, the GM has to factor in the entire salary cap, the entire budget. Single moves are not made irrespective to other moves. I simply can't believe, I refuse to believe, that a professional GM would make a financial decision without factoring in the cost of other decisions. Everything is connected. He doesn't have a FA QB salary cap that sits outside the rest of the salary cap. The rest of the post I agree with. But then again, that goes right in line with my thoughts on why they should have signed Hoyer. They need a franchise QB regardless of Glennon or Hoyer, and the smart moves would be to strengthen the D and OL.

I'm hoping he convinces a fellow Texan to come to Chicago.
  11. The Niners should sign him and start him ahead of Hoyer.

I still think there is a real possibility he gets selected by the Bears. And I'd be pretty damn happy about it, unless Myles Garrett is there or a trade is turned down.
  13. Jeremy Bates is the QB coach with the Jets. That seems like a team he'd likely go to if I had to bet on it.
  14. I completely understand what you're saying, but the problem is that if both guys are mediocre, and both have varying upside/downside, and neither is the QB of the future, it makes way more sense to stay with the guy who you know, the guy who knows the system, and the guy who costs half as much. The variables here are overwhelmingly against the Bears' decision to get Glennon. The Bears essentially spent twice as much on a car that might drive a little faster, but also has a better chance of breaking down. What's more, they could have offered Hoyer more money and blown his socks off, then spent the rest to put the nail in the coffin of the Gilmore proposal. Instead, they got Glennon and were apparently cheap with their offer to Gilmore.

That does make me seriously question whether the Bears would draft Jamal Adams at #3. I don't see how that would make sense at all since Adams is clearly more of a SS than a FS. Even scarier, would be using the #3 on an injured FS like Hooker. With this move, it appears certain the Bears have three options with the #3 pick: 1) Trade down 2) Jonathan Allen 3) QB

Biggs is reporting that Demps appears to be coming to Chicago. https://twitter.com/BradBiggs/status/839880722584375296
  19. If Glennon completely shits the bed this year, and for any reason other than injury a backup gets into the game, Pace has to go. To spend that much when he had the option to spend about half as much for Hoyer is just not defensible. Hoyer accomplishes the same thing for the most part, and the extra money is there to sign guys like Gilmore and Jeffery.
  20. Here goes the agreeing thing again. There is just as much upside as downside with Glennon. The same can't really be said about Hoyer, however. His last two years have shown that at worst he's a safe QB, a check-down artist. At best, he not only keeps putting up huge passing numbers, he leads the team to scores as well. Then opponents realize they have to stop him from methodically marching the Bears downfield, and the long range passing opens up.
  21. Are you saying this because they could essentially cut him after one year if he doesn't pan out?
  22. If that happens, it's disappointing. Hoyer is less than half the price, and will likely have comparable, if not better stats.
  23. That would be a pretty crazy draft. To snag Zay Jones so late seems really unrealistic. I really like the QB double-dip.
  24. Are the 49ers cheating again? Remember when they got in trouble years back for circumventing the salary cap? They are signing EVERYONE this year.
  25. OL Rankings are BS, especially if from PFF. There is no way all their OLs were wise collectively than the mess the Bears have had.
