  1. True, most mocks are wrong. But his is more wrong than any other. There is no way in hell a dude who only played one year and put up average stats at freaking Wyoming is going #3. If Allen is the name called at #3, it's going to be Jonathan Allen, not Josh Allen. Also, Marlon Humphrey (CB, Alabama) going mid 2nd? Finally, it doesn't take a great memory to recall that many had Floyd going to the Bears. It was almost too obvious considering all the build-up. Many hear talked about it for weeks, if not months.

    2017 Opponents

Yeah, it's almost pointless to get into projections. Teams change so drastically from season to season. Off-hand, however, getting the Niners and Browns is a good thing. The only game that looks like a guaranteed loss is the Saints. The defense would have to improve considerably to stop Brees from gutting the secondary for a ton of yards and points.
  3. That's the worst mock I've ever seen.
  4. I chose Garrett, but he won't be available. If he is, it would be insane to pass on him. Even if Allen is available.
  5. It would be a poor decision, in my opinion, to grab anyone except Garrett or Allen. Either would be transformative for this defense. The only other choice that makes sense at #3 is a trade down.
  6. Myles Garrett Jonathan Allen After that, I'm worried. I really don't like many others at 3. Don't want any of the QBs there.

    QB options

No thanks on Glennon. He's asking way too much. Landry Jones? Meh.
  8. That wouldn't be my ideal draft, but I'd be fairly excited about that draft. I'd rather see Rd2 OT and Rd3 TE.

    Trubisky

Add me to the anti-Trubisky camp. I was hesitant before, I'm more so hesitant after that game. Limited reps. Limited games. Poor competition overall. Doesn't do nearly as well against good competition. That's a hell no at 3.
  10. They're sitting at #3 and nobody will trade with them. The QB they want is not graded out as worth the #3 pick, but they're not completely sure he's going to be there at the top of the second round.

    Coaching Options

I think we all loved Toub.
  12. I noticed that, too, and wondered why they were doing it all the sudden. I figured they'd load up on Howard, get the record, then give more carries to backups, as sort of a try-out for the 2017 team. Could just be Fox spreading it out over the last two games, which I'm completely OK with happening.
  13. It's definitely a conundrum. I think it's the same reason why many of us wish we could trade down and just go ahead and nab a QB in the first without it being a reach. I definitely don't want a Houston situation, but I think I'd definitely prefer any of the following, which I believe would help the team more: 1. Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama + 2. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson (Many think he'll fall) 1. Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama + 2. Pat Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech 1. Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama + 2. Desmond King, CB, Iowa + 3. Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami 1. Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama + 2. Desmond King, CB, Iowa + 3. Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson + 4. Chad Kelly, QB, Ole. Miss.
  14. Get him the record by a yard, then sit him. This game is meaningless, and should be used like a second week preseason game.
  15. What if the best QB in the draft could be had later? Are you still drafting him at 3?
  16. So this article lists the top ten teams that didn't make the playoffs that have a good chance at the playoffs next year. No mention of the Bears. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/Barnw...king-2017-field I understand why they don't list the Bears, but it's as if nobody else notices that the Bears have been competitive in pretty much every game, and have been playing 2nd/3rd stringers all year because of the ridiculous number of injuries.
  17. And the fact remains that Lovie inherited three defensive Hall of Famers when he signed on, one of which transformed the MLB position forever, while another was perhaps the most prolific "fumble forcer" in modern NFL history, and the last was a tackling machine who would be top 20 all time if not playing beside Uberlacher. Not to mention the fact it would have been four HOFers he inherited if not for Mike Brown's injuries. Then he was part of drafting a DB - because Lovie loved him some defensive drafts - who ended up being a horrible DB, but the best return man in the history of the NFL. I think Lovie was a fine DC who lucked into one of the best defensive situations in the history of NFL coaching. This team would have similarly dropped like a rock if he remained on staff because his defense was old, his HOFers were not as good, and his scheme - that he refused to change or modify according to the game flow - was figured out. Oh, and he had no clue about offense.
  18. Ugh. Not the "we should have kept Lovie"-talk again. He's 3-9 at Illinois, and that's only because they scheduled an atrocious OVC school, they beat a Rutgers team that probably shouldn't even be on the field, and they eeked one out against the other B1G bottom dweller this year (Mich. St.). The Bears didn't fall because Lovie left. They fell because there was a perfect storm of bad decisions, bad hires, bad personalities, and bad luck. They fell because in 2013 they got rid of the heart of the defense that was already falling apart, and hired a DC who drew up his plays in dull crayons. The HC they hired couldn't overcome that incompetence because he wasn't a strong enough leader, despite clearly being light-years ahead of Lovie's offensive abilities. The following season the wheels fell off because Trestman lost the locker room because Martellus Bennett, Brandon Marshall, and Lance Briggs were malcontents, because he let Marshall take time off for a TV show, because he let Briggs take time off to open a restaurant, he came up with the stupid rotating-captains thing, and not to mention because Kromer leaked his displeasure with Cutler. Without that perfect storm - and I'm sure I forgot some things - any coach would likely have walked into the scenario and produce the same thing Lovie did: mediocrity.

    Coaching Options

Keep every coach not involved with health & fitness. If someone has a title _______ Coach, and that first word is strength, stretching, balance, or anything else related to fitness or health, fire their ass.
  20. I still don't like the move. If you're a competitor, and players on your team are not giving 100% (which was indicated by multiple players), then you're damn right there should be a response. The people who took offense to the outburst are likely the players who made mistakes or didn't give everything they have, whether in preparation or performance. The Bears got rid of BM for off the field stuff. They'll likely lose Alshon as well. Hell, Alshon appeared all but ready to leave the day after BM left, and it hasn't really changed. I'd much rather have BM & AJ than a broke ass Kevin White, two or three nobodies with perpetual promise, and a giant hole that has to be accounted for in the draft.
  21. HELL NO. Way too steep, even if the Bears had a mid to late 1st rounder. For the #3 pick in the draft? It would be atrocious, and a career-ending move for everyone in Bears' management, from GM down.
  22. I thought about that same trade, but I don't think TN would do that because they have their QB of the future. People trade up for QBs, not much else. Also, the majority of stud QBs are first rounders, but the majority of first round QBs aren't studs. I happen to think that Trubinsky, Watson, and Kizer belong more in the second round, maybe late first, but because of the premium on the position they will likely go earlier than they should. I'm hoping all the rumors about Watson dropping to the second are right, because I think he's the best of the three. I also think, however, that the best QB in the entire draft is Chad Kelly from Ole Miss. He's got all the tools and talent if he could just get out of his own way. High risk, high reward.
  23. Everyone seems to at least think a trade down would work well for the Bears. Most think the QB class is weak, and most think the guys we really want/need are better suited later than the third pick. So, is there any team that would be willing to move up to the #3 pick and not mortgage their entire future? Is there a team that has the picks/players to pull it off? Here's my best shot: CLE - Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M SF - QB CHI - SF didn't take the QB they want, and CLE calls the Bears to make a big move for what they think is a franchise QB, while keeping one of their second rounders. CHI trades their #3 pick (2200) for CLE's #10 pick (1300), #33 (580), & #65 (265). CHI then picks: 1.#10-Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama - #1 CB in the draft, 7 picks later. 2.#33-Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson - Most mocks have him dropping this far. A huge steal. He's the new franchise player. 2.#36-Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin - It's time to protect the franchise player. 3. #65-Budda Baker, S, Washington - He probably starts day one. 3. #68-Cooper Kupp, WR, E. Washington - Here's a fancy, new, sure-handed weapon for the franchise player. 4. #99-Chad Wheeler,OT,USC - I said, it's finally time to protect the franchise player! 4. #108-Gerald Everett, TE, South Alabama - Good receiving TE for the franchise player. 5. #131-Tanoh Kpassagnon,DE,Villanova - Good potential. Not sure why he drops so far. 7. #193-Tarik Cohen, RB, NC A&T - Potential homerun hitting, change of pace RB A guy can dream, right?
  24. I believe my thoughts are pretty clear on this. The QB position is #1 need on the team. Sure, Barkley or Hoyer might be able to keep the team afloat for a while, but neither are consistent NFL-starter quality, and they are a far cry from franchise guys. The QBs available are not worth the #3 pick. There is just no clear cut guy with a consistently dominating body of work, who also possesses the NFL-ready mechanics and decision-making abilities indicative of a top-5 QB. Further, if all indications are true, QBs will drop in this draft, and there's a chance one of the better ones (please be Deshaun Watson) will drop to Chicago in the second round. The Bears are in a very advantageous position of needing multiple positions on offense and defense when the available players will almost all be the #1 guy at that position when they draft. Having said that, I think the two most dominating players available, who also have a high probability of dominating in the NFL, are Myles Garrett and Jonathan Allen. Conveniently enough, they are both perfect fits for a 3-4 DE. An added bonus is that by bolstering the front seven and making QB destruction the #1 priority, the secondary, which is the other weak spot on D, is greatly benefited. So, unless Garrett and Allen go 1-2, then the pick is obvious. The only other logical possibility is a trade down that nets the Bears a bounty to good to pass up.

    Cousins

Precisely. Absolute no on trading for Cousins. No way we should trade the NUMBER 3 pick.
