  1. I was just thinking about what the Bears should do in the draft (same thought for a month now), and the more I think about it, a trade with Cleveland makes sense. Cleveland has two 1st round picks: #1 & #9. Cleveland needs a QB. Cleveland sucks on defense as well. Cleveland has a ton of picks and can move up. If they pass on Garrett at #1, no way he's there at #9. They won't pass according to this report. But the QBs are a different story. There appears to be serious contention about which QB is the first overall. It would make a ton of sense for Cleveland to draft Garrett, then trade from #9 to #4 and take a QB, whether it's Trubisky, Kizer, or Watson. That gives them huge momentum and promise for a team that has looked miserable this year. #4 - 1800 #9 - 1350 The Browns second pick in the 2nd round fits about perfect into that math. Since Garrett and Allen will likely be gone, and the QBs are questionable, it feels like nobody there is worth the #4 pick. Most of us think a trade back fits the team's needs. Makes perfect sense to me. Thoughts?

    Bears at Lions

Also, LA still plays SF, so one of those two teams is getting a win. At this point, I don't think SF will get two wins, so it won't help if they beat LA. But if LA wins, it gives us some insurance. I'd say it's a pretty safe bet we're drafting 4th.
  3. I'd love Wheeler in the 4th, and would even go higher if the Bears feel he might be in high demand.
  4. Only a sign and trade would work. Franchise is out of the question. They should start working on something ASAP, and then spring the deal on him before the draft.
  5. 100% with this. He's good, but not worth the franchise tag again. To be honest, part of me thinks he pissed hot on purpose to minimize the risk of getting hurt before he moves to his next team. The Bears should emulate NE and trade him while they can.
  6. Well, until they give the QB, whichever QB, an OL he can stand behind and feel comfortable, as well as one that opens holes for the running game, I'll always feel like we should draft OL. The Cowboys are showing what a great OL can do this season. I want the Bears to do the same thing.
  7. Precisely. Been saying it for a few weeks now. This team is better than people think, and if not for injuries/suspensions they'd be in the playoff hunt. Keep losing, show promise, get youngsters experience, and hope next year's draft is also a winner. This team could easily be back in the mix.

    Bears at Lions

Probably no surprise, but I thought all the calls except one were correct. There was one hold thrown by the female line judge that was a complete mystery. She's supposed to be watching a receiver, tight end, or back, depending on formation, but she threw it toward the line. It was a bad call. The non-call for DPI, regardless of the Bears' sideline reaction, was not enough for a foul. The WR was still able to jump and make a play on the ball. The Bears lost because they were playing backups and third stringers who didn't make enough plays.
  9. They've been really good lately. 14-Haha Clinton-Dix 15-Amari Cooper 16-Ragland If Ragland weren't injured, that would easily be better than the Bears three picks. And there have been several others who would have been better picks than the Bears picks over the last several years.
  10. Facts: 1. The Bears need QB, LT, CB, S, DE, WR, TE 2. This is a very weak QB draft. 3. This is a very weak OL draft. Kiper and McShay agree (on QB too). 4. Myles Garrett will be gone when the Bears pick. 5. When the Bears pick there will likely be a choice of the leftover QB (Kizer or Trubinsky), Leonard Fournette, and Marshon Lattimore, besides two Alabama players (Jonathan Allen / Cam Robinson). If Allen is there, I think it's a no-brainer. Aside from Garrett, he's probably the best overall player in the entire draft. And he fits the 3-4DE position perfectly. If Allen isn't there, pretty much everyone at that point feels like a slight reach. So the Bears may as well grab the clear cut #1 OT and solidify the OL.
  11. I'm vexed about the decision. When Whitehair was drafted he was thought of as the #1 OG in the draft, despite the fact that he was the highest rated NCAA LT last year. When he was drafted, the Bears still had Slausson, but many of us thought it might be an omen to Slausson's future with the team (despite disagreeing with his departure). So his drafting had us thinking the starting lineup would be LT, Slausson, Grasu, Long, RT, with Whitehair as a backup. Then Grasu went down. Nowhere in Whitehair's consideration was the idea of moving him to Center. The fact he's done well there is just an indication of his talent level. Which makes me think he's good enough to play anywhere. Which makes me think the Bears should move him to one of the tackle positions when Grasu comes back. I prefer throwing him in the deep water at LT and seeing how he does. He could always be flipped back to RT. That leaves the Bears with three relatively young players on the OL along side an all-pro who can build continuity with a rookie or FA. The more I think about it (heads up Alaska), the more I like the idea of the Bears drafting Cam Robinson and solidifying the OL. Cam/Cody, Larsen, Grasu, Long, Cam/Cody
  12. Honestly, the more and more I think about it, the more I think the entire staff should come back. The injuries this year have been ridiculous.
  13. McShay & Kiper float the idea in this column: http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2017/story/_/...ings-mock-draft
  14. I have always been in favor of adding talented players to the roster, even those with personality and off the field issues. Only one question is necessary for me: Can he play? If the answer is yes, then I'm in favor. It's up to the coaches and fellow players to control the other stuff. If all you pick are Boy Scouts, you never end up with the 85 Bears.
  15. Hit the nail on the head. The level of QB play in the league is not so great that a guy like Cutler isn't recognized as still being among the most physically gifted in the league, and still right in the mix as an average starter. Add in the allure of an OC who thinks he could be the guy to fix the Cutlerisms, and that's definitely a player enticing enough to garner 3rd day trade consideration, if not late 2nd day.

    Niners game

HAHAHAHA! Excellent!! That is funny. If I could photoshop I would do all sorts of movie covers with him and Lea Thompson.
  17. @ Detroit - The Bears beat the Lions earlier, but these teams are different since them. I'd say this is a sure loss. vs. GB - I'd love for this to have been the win, and SF the loss, but the Bears already won. Also, GB has had the Bears' number for quite some time. Another loss. vs. Wash - This is the most winnable game out of all of them. I have a feeling that Cousins will go off, but the Bears D will do just enough to make it competitive. @ Minny - This game could be very significant for the Queens. It could mean the division title. Also, games in Minny are tough. I think the Bears end 4-12. What is your take?

    Niners game

QB - Yeah, I meant pass in the 1st round. Misleading wording to be sure. The Bears can't entirely pass on QB next year.
  19. With the loss to the Niners, this draft just got worse. 1. CLE 2. SF 3. JAX 4. CHI And Chicago may be close to dropping to 5 since they're tied with the Jets for wins. The only positive is, in two weeks the Jets play the Niners, and one of those teams will get a win. I'm not sure mathematically which team winning would help the Bears. What I do know, however, is the top two defensive talents are likely gone before the Bears pick. I don't see the Browns and the Niners both going QB. Which means Myles Garrett is gone. And Jacksonville has Bortles, so they're not going to pick a QB. Which means Jonathan Allen is likely gone. What does that leave the Bears? The Bears get the 2nd QB on the board (could be their 1st). So, suppose you're first rated QB is gone. Would you be happy with the Bears picking who you deem to be the second rated QB in this weak QB draft at #4? For me that pick would be Trubisky or Kizer, and I wouldn't like it. Problem is, I don't like the other options that much.

    Niners game

Caveat - This is the Niners. They're probably the second worst team in the NFL. 1) Howard - Proves yet again the Bears don't need to spend time in the offseason looking for a RB. They just need a guy who can give him a breather. 2) Barkley - Impressed enough to be kept around, and give the Bears a reason to pass on QB if the player fit is right. 3) Floyd - I don't see him for several plays and I think he plays light, but then he explodes. As long as he has one or two explosions a game, I'm fine with that. If multiple other players have explosive plays in the game, and those plays are relatively spread out, that's a dominant defense. It's how the NY Giants have operated with their multiple rushers for quite some time. 4) Kwiatkoski - I called him early on, way before the Bears drafted him. He was, is, and will continue to be a tackling machine. The Bears should continue to draft players like him, guys who always produce, regardless of the measurables. 5) WRs - The Bears need WRs. Did Braverman even get in the game? None of the others impressed a lot. 6) Hicks - He's very good, and is one of those players who only needs a few explosive plays a game to make me happy. He has the consistency at other times. 7) OL - Average to good. The tackles are still fairly ugly. 8) Loggains - I did not like the fact that he completely ignored the pass in the first half until it was late. That was just stupid, in any weather.

Honestly though, the snow makes me feel like the Bears should win on principle alone.

    Niners game

Meh. Let's hope the Bears have a great defensive showing (so far so good), and barely lose.
  23. For the most part, your post is the thought that makes me feel promise about this season. Tons of injuries, a team in transition, and relatively competitive. The added bonus is, of course, a bunch of losses that puts the team in great draft position. It's an almost perfect for a perpetually stagnant franchise.
  24. Wow. This is incredible. I've never seen anything like this. BTW - If the Bears are putting in scrubs, they need to put Braverman in over one of the guys who can't seem to catch a ball.
