    Bad Spot

Agree, I thought it was a bad spot as well, but it’s one of those calls where whatever was called on the field would likely stand. If they spotted it short and LV challenged it they most likely lose that challenge. in general I felt the game was mostly called fair. It was nice to finally see some flags thrown for late hits on Fields. Though the helmet to the ribs I thought should have been called targeting as the defender lead with the helmet.
  2. Yeah 3 TE's, committing more blockers to help protect Fields. After that first TD drive where the helped out with dumb penalties it felt like the offense picked it up and looked better since then. It always makes me cringe when they show Nagy with a play sheet over his face. He just can't help himself but keep his hand in the cookie jar. On a side note it sure seems like the Raiders play dirty.
  3. unfortunately on the Raiders second possession we're letting them walk right down the field on us.
  4. For certain it was someone above him in the organization. Be it Pace, George, or perhaps Virginia got mad again. Bottom line is if it’s Fields and Lazor for the rest of the season there’s hope that we won’t ruin the kid. I just hope Nagy’s ego doesn’t cause him to take the reigns back if things start looking better. His arrogance is a hindrance to the team. Till he gets over himself it will continue to hold him and this team back.
  5. And earlier in the game didn't we have our returner hit before he could make the catch and no call?
  6. That is so Nagy to hand out the compliment but then refuse to answer any more questions about who's calling plays. His ego is taking a hit. He's been roasted in the past for his poor play calling, the flames went higher after last week's debacle. I'm sure he was pressured to hand over play calling since his ego makes him think he's smarter than everyone else. The proof is in the pudding as it was night and day different with Lazor calling the plays. There was continuity, and a real sense of some kind of game plan. I like that Fields addressed the play calling this week vs last week but did it in a diplomatic honest way. When Nagy's calling plays it really looks like he's just making it up as he goes like a student guessing at multiple choice questions on a test they didn't study for. He has a handful of plays he likes and that seems to be the pool he picks from. This is always a potential issue when a HC decides to handle either offensive or defensive play calls, their focus needs to be on the overall team, and often one or the other or even both suffer. Here's hoping two things happen going forward Fields continues to start, and Lazor calls plays. There will be bumps and he'll make mistakes from time to time but as long as Lazor is making the calls I feel like that creates a better situation for Fields to grow. Nagy calling the plays is the best way to stunt his growth. I still want Nagy and Pace gone after the season, but I wouldn't be opposed to the next coach retaining Lazor if the chemistry between him and Fields is solid. As far as GM, our biggest needs going into next offseason is OL and secondary. We have got to shore up the talent on the back end of the defense, the front end is doing its part. And we need to stop mortgaging future draft capitol on the present out of desperation. For once it would be nice to walk into draft day with our full compliment of picks or even being on the plus side. We keep borrowing from the future so the limited amount of picks we have each draft drastically lowers the margin of error and makes the misses that much more catastrophic. We've had both extremes in GM's who always traded down, and Pace who always wants to trade up, the best place to be is somewhere in the middle. That said outside of the Jenkins pick (which many including myself liked at the time), was probably Pace's best draft to date. Getting Fields at 11 was a steal (thank you SF & NYG). It did involve luck but he made the right move and got the deal done.
  7. Question is, are the best players for the positions even on the roster. Our secondary is Easily the weakest part of our defensive roster.
  8. You were only off by a point! It was clear Nagy wasn’t calling plays
  9. then the D gives up an easy TD to start the 4th, down 14. Our offense to this point has only 59 yards of offense. That was probably the back breaker there. Unless something crazy happens it's probably game over.
  10. not a lot, doesn't seem to be anyone creating much separation. The sacks have been a combination of poor OL play and no one to throw to.
  11. Rather than setting up your rookie to succeed Nagy continues to set up Fields to fail. This putrid play calling is going to get Justin killed.
  12. Or, as the play developed if Motny cuts it to the left of Peters he possibly picks up the 1st
  13. and there should have been a personal foul on Fields slide as he got hit after he slid... that should have been an automatic 1st
  14. another clutch sack on a 4th down preceded by a great tackle by Shelly. D is so far holding up their end.
  15. Agree, Your star WR needs to make those catches. Usually Robinson does make them but that would have definitely changed the game when that drop happened. That ball couldn't have been placed better. Moony also let one go through his hands. Maybe our WR's aren't used to having the ball hit them in the hands? Fields did look like a rookie out there but he also didn't get a lot of help. I give him credit for the effort to to make sure the fumble didn't become a scoop and score. It was a blind side hit but he was also holding the ball a little loose there. His scramble late did seal the game, so it was a mixed bag of good and bad as you'd expect from a rookie. With Dalton's knee they better get Fields 1st team reps in practice this week ahead of week 3 (should have from the get go). On D we saw the best of the D and the worst of the D. We go from a fumble recovery, back to back to back INT's (one a pick 6) then late in the game we looked like the keynote cops again. One DB tackling the other DB to allow a walk in TD.
  16. Don't worry Naggy will always go away from what works, because he's sooooo clever. This is getting ugly quick. Why do we keep going for it on 4th down only give the Rams great field position are we trying to get blown out in the first quarter? If that's the game plan it's working...
  17. I'm hoping for a win but not expecting one. Stafford knows our D very well, and he's finally on a team that has a chance to be good, he finally escaped Detroit. His experience against us should be a decent advantage. It really all hinges on our offense and more specifically our line play. Give Dalton time and he can pick you apart but more than likely he's going to be under pressure a lot so it will be tough for him to be comfortable back there throwing. If we can't get the ground game going at all we'll be toast, no matter who's behind center. Field's mobility and threat to run would help but we can't be one dimensional and walk away with a win. My other key is turnovers on D, we will need some especially if we can get some short fields to work with. If we're constantly working from the shadow of our end zone it'll be a long day.
  18. I think he had one or two balls that sailed on him a little. One he was probably just throwing it away towards the sideline, the other was just a little off but I'll take that in a heartbeat compared to how accurate the rest of his throws were, not only on target but placing the ball where his receivers can actually do something with it after the catch. Air ball Mitch couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if it wasn't 10 yards or less. I watched some highlights from the Bills preseason game and his ball placement is still an issue, receivers are having to bail him out on catches. It's so refreshing seeing a Bears QB able to do the things that Justin can do, and he makes it look effortless. And he's showing these things in his first preseason game action with backup receivers, and patchwork line. Defenses are going to have to play coverage and have to utilize QB spys. I'm sure they will try to blizt him, but the trick becomes maintaining contain with his speed and elusiveness.
  19. His first two possessions he was put in rough spots one drive killed by penalties backing them up to their own goal line forcing a 3rd down play that essentially just gave the punter more room. Did we ever start a drive from the 25? Seemed like we always tried returning the kick and never reaching the 20, I could be wrong but I don't recall good starting field position other than after a Miami punt. I felt like the play calling was a bit conservative at first perhaps playing it safe to allow Fields to get his feet wet. I like that he drove us down for a FG at the end of the fist half with less than a min to work with. And carried that momentum forward into the second half. It's one preseason game and it's early in his career, there will be mistakes, but he lead the Bears to 17 points through about 2 quarters of play. I won't put him in the HOF yet, but contrast his first outing to Mitches first outing and Fields inspires a lot more confidence going forward. It's different for us to expect great things from our rookie QB rather than praying our rookie QB doesn't suck. I'm hoping he turns out to be the steal of the 2021 draft. I saw the calmness that he's been known for even when things didn't go well on his first two possessions. You saw a calm poise, his accuracy was on display and he didn't get rattled. I saw a QB that can make things happen when a play breaks down. It's going to be hard to defend him. One play that stood out to me was when he took off like he was going to run, causing the DB to leave his man, and he stops and drops the ball right into the receiver that was open because the DB had to respect his ability to run. That will be dangerous and it all looks so effortless with Justin. This kid may just save Naggy's and Pace's jobs
  20. They were talking about it on the NFL XM station this morning. They did bring up the dynamic about bringing Foles in to replace an injured Wentz and how that could create some drama for Wentz in sort of a "here we go again". Another name they brought up was possibly reaching out to Rivers and see if he would be willing to come back. Bottom line is they need a veteran QB to step in, Foles has said he'd prefer to go somewhere where he has familiarity. The Colt's situation could work out well for both them and Foles. I don't think this will create drama but Wentz and Foles are both professionals and understand the situation, I don't foresee either one of them creating issues. I also don't see Rivers coming out of retirement. I could see Foles being up for this opportunity to go from our 3rd string guy to at least a temporary starter. I'm sure he believes he can still be a starter in this league and this gives him the chance to prove that and audition for his next gig rathe than be buried in our depth chart and not see the field.
  21. That was the first thing I thought of when I heard about Wentz. Perfect opportunity to deal him if not to Indy another popular speculation is the Jets. Dallas could be a possibility too with Dak's injury. I'm glad we didn't win the Wentz sweepstakes.
  22. Out of curiosity what picks do we still have in 2022? Way down the road but just wondering.
