Been some head scratching moves so far. So refreshing that we’re not one of those teams. It’s kinda funny that the Jets didn’t take a WR in the first round after Rodgers whined about the Packers didn’t do it. Would have laughed my butt off if the jets had taken Will Levis

Packers get the Jets #13, a 2nd (#41), a 6th rounder (# 207), and a conditional 2024 3rd round pick that becomes a 1st if he plays 65% of the snaps (very likely).
Jets get Rodgers, pick #15, a 5th rounder (#170), and Rodgers massive contract.
So the Packers move up two spots in the 1st round, a high 2nd, a sixth, this year and a ‘24 1st (though this could likely be a late 1st). They take a cap hit this year but are then free from Rodgers big contract. The Jets move down two spots, give up some good draft capitol this year and next year for at best a 2 year rental. Then they’ll be a QB needy team again. They are going to have to go all in during this 2 year window. Short term this trade helps the Jets, but long term it helps the Packers.
All this talk about how the jets are serious contenders now kind of make a me chuckle a little as the are swinging for the fences on a QB who’s choked in the playoffs more than he’s come through. -

And you know me - I really want a dominant 3T! If Carter didnt have the love of the game questions, and didnt take plays off, I'd be yelling for him over any of the OTs. But I think Carter is not matched well with Eberflus, so I'm hoping we land Darnell Wright instead.I forget who I heard talking about Carter and the Bears, but they had an interesting take on it. Their thinking was a disciplined approach to coaching may be just what Carter needs rather than a soft players coach style approach or babying him. I do think there’s some truth to that. He might just need that push to light a fire under him.
we’ll soon find out what Poles evaluation is if he does fall to 9.

Just like Bjon Robinson I’m all for the talent and in most cases I’d be down for taking either at 9 or preferably dropping down a few spots and picking up an extra 2nd. However, as much as I like these guys, I feel like they would be luxury picks that we don’t have the luxury on our roster to pass on players at higher need positions. I would like to see us possibly trade down a few spots and pick up an extra 2nd. Unless there’s someone at 9 we can’t pass up on. I’m starting to warm to the idea of taking Carter if he’s there as long as Poles and Flous feel they can coach him up as a player and as a man. I’ll trust their evaluation. If by chance he’s there at 9 I’m sure there will be offers. Would I hat Robinson or JSN at 9 no but just don’t see Poles going there.

I have no issue with this at all. The fact that they're all hanging out at bulls games and such tells me they have good chemistry and mutual respect.
Moore's presence will help both Mooney and Claypool from a coverage standpoint. He will draw more coverage away from those guys. To me the Jury's still out on Claypool, he has the talent, but does he have the ethic and motivation to tap his full potential? Mooney speed receiver and is more of a role player.

I think it can be a tough position to be in if at #9 he's still on the board, or it can be an opportunity. If we're not fully comfortable with taking the risk of spending a top ten pick on a guy with so many question marks, I'd bet that there's another team that might be interested in trading up. I wouldn't want to drop too much further but, if we're sitting there at #9 he's on the board and you there are other players on your big board that you have grade around the 9th pick are also still there. And say the Eagles, Titans, or even Texans call. I'd definitely be open to taking offers.
More and more I'm leaning hard towards the position that he's not worth the risk and what's at stake for the Bears should we take the chance and he turns out to be a waste.

Liked his sit down with Jeff Joniak. Comes across as a down to earth chill dude who’s a hard worker. I love his toughness and desire to do all the little things. Whatever it takes attitude. Definitely the type of vet you want around the locker room and WR group.

For sure. He could possibly be there at 9 given the situation, and his talent on the field would make him a steal at 9 as long as the off the field stuff doesn't become a lingering issue. Have to do the due diligence and get a feel for Carter the person to gauge if he's worth taking.

In order to get Rodgers, the Jets are going to have to give up some draft capital which is going to hurt them when they need players after Rodgers ultimately retires to his dark space after this season.
GB is screwed this year, they are going to eat $40M in dead cap with very little cap to resign players or sign anyone of value. So they are going to be at best the same team as last year, which is their ceiling. Then in 2024, that is Love's 5th year option year, so if they don't have the roster built properly, they are basically hosed in 2025 when they have to shed $40M+ to keep Love (if he is the guy). If Love is not the guy, the Packers can start the QB carousel like the rest of the league has over the last 30 years.
And for the Jets that's just the draft capitol they'll have give up to get Rodgers, that's not including the cap space he'll eat up, plus his wish list of players to go and get.
And then Rodgers wants to play the victim by claiming he's not the one holding up the trade, throwing the Packers organization under the bus, (biting the hand that feeds him). Just goes back to everything is everyone else's fault, he takes no blame or responsibility for anything except when it's something good. His other comments about how he's the greatest player in Packer's history, and on and on. I for sure would put Bart Star ahead of him on the all time great Packers list. He for sure is the LeBron James of the NFL. If he's not careful he'll dislocate his surgically repaired shoulder patting himself on the back. Great players don't have to call themselves great they just play the game and let others say what they will. No wonder his family and him don't associate with each other. He alienates everyone around him that doesn't bow down to him, scratch his back, or bend over backwards for him.

He’s making demands that the Jets sign players off his wish list (players he had in Green Bay). So with the Packers he whined that they didn’t surround him with weapons but in NY he wants them to surround him with the same players the Packers put around him.

Wouldn’t mind Mattison at all. Dude deserves a starting gig but will never be a feature back sitting behind Cook. Whenever Cook has missed time there’s little to no drop of in their run game production.
I will miss Monty. He played with heart and determination. Wish him well except against us.

Sounds like there’s conflicting information and nothing official. But given what Packers President said that bringing him back is not a top priority and the jets coaches flying out to California to meet with him and then clearing cap space feels like it’s inevitable.
Maybe after a couple years or so he’ll take over for Kirk Cousins in Minny where a Bears DT will put an end to his career. It’d be like deja vu all over again.

Love this for so many reasons. We all knew Poles was shopping the pick. Only question was would it be one move or multiple moves, would it be now or draft day. They gave us enough bread crumbs to speculate who our trade partners were.
He spoke pretty boldly about it at the combine. We now know he wasn’t just blowing smoke. I bet the Panthers we’re offering the 24 and 25 1st rounders and he got them to include Moore. It gives me confidence that we may finally have a GM who is smart, calculating, shrewd, and can back his word up. This was masterfully done.
it helps us now by getting an established #1 WR to help Fields and instantly makes our WR room better. Plus it give Moore extra time to adjust to being a Bear and study up on the new offense as well as get to know his new teammates and coaches. Along with that takes #1 WR off the need list so we can focus on OL, DL and secondary
it helps us long term with the future draft capitol and gives us insurance in case Fields doesn’t take the next step or gives us flexibility to move around in the next couple drafts.

That's what makes this such a golden opportunity to set us up well this season but also future seasons. It's hard to ever build a team the right way when you're blowing draft capitol to try and find a quick fix because you've mismanaged the roster. It's hard to build a deep roster when you're always mortgaging the future to fix the present. What this franchise has needed is a GM to do the smart thing and think beyond the current offseason. Poles is in an unbelievable position to change the tide here in Chicago. I for one (and I'm sure most of us here) want to see the Bears finally start accruing draft capitol for this draft and drafts to come, rather than enter the drafts with little to work with. I don't want us to amass capitol just to amass it though, you have to be smart, you don't want to lose out on someone you really want just to get more picks. I feel the same with our cap situation. I don't want to see us spend like we just won the powerball, and it's a shopping spree. I don't believe Poles to be the type to just blow it cause it's burning a hole in his pocket. But he's in a position that most GMs dream about. If we play this right we could really be in good shape now and in years to come.

I don't get the thinking of trading fields unless like PHX said someone gives you 4 firsts (not going to happen) or something you couldn't pass up. Some people will aways be enamored with the shiny new thing. Those of us long time Bears fans have longed for someone at the QB position that can be a playmaker, and a player you can win games with rather than in spite of or just a QB who can manage the game well enough not to lose it for you. Let's face it the bar for QB excellence in Chicago has been set so low for so long.
Enter Justin Fields who has made watching Bears games exciting again. He presents a QB who defenses have to account for and scheme against. When was the last time that was true for a Bears QB? Sure he still has room to grow and develop, but we finally hav a dynamic player at this key position, surround him with better talent, and he takes that next step and now we have something going with a budding star at QB on his rookie deal. Trading him away now, would be like hitting the reset, and gambling that the QB you draft is as good or better than Fields right now. I don't see Poles doing this so I'm not concerned. There's a lot of people on the inter webs who just like to stir stuff up. Poles would have to be blown away by the offer to even consider.

His footwork, mobility, and agility stand out to me. Like you said he says balanced and plays under control. It’s when linemen don’t have good balance and footwork that they panic and have to hold. It’s the difference in playing in a reactionary way rather than taking the fight to your opponent.
