This and the fact that I have tomorrow off due to the blizzard made my day. Seeing them get beat in their house while doesn't make up for our last loss does bring a nice smile to my face.

He's always been better suited as a LB'r than a DE. He's been put in the wrong position since he got here. His athleticism has been wasted on an un natural position. I think he could play MLB.

what are Detroits and GB's schedules home/away. How do we compare to them?

Wow Stafford is dumb, and clearly can't take an honest look at himself. I heard the team chemistry there was awful. People think Jay's a prick how'd you like to have a QB with serious flaws in his game and refuses to do anything to fix them because in his mind he's good.

I like both Nix and Tuit. The thing about Nix is his knees and overall health he struggled with health this past year and didn't seem as dominant as he had in previous years. Now if he gets healed up and can put that past him, he can be very disruptive in the run game and can create pressure. He's very athletic for a big guy. Tuit has had a strong college career and is very active in the run and pass defense. Quite often over the past few years it's been nix and tuit in the backfield. We need guys who can do that. If he can stay healthy Nix would be the more disruptive in both the run game and pass game and would likely draw double teams.

I can't remember so don't lynch me here but who's call was it to keep the old scheme was that Tucker's idea? Was it Trestman's? Was it Emery's? Anyway it was a gamble that turned out bad. Had it worked we wouldn't be having this conversation instead we'd be applauding the idea. Hindsight is always 20/20. I think there are two issues here one of those may be clouded by the other. Lack of fundamentals could very well cloud whether the idea to keep the old scheme/language was good or not. I do recall before the season that Many here were intrigued and even supportive of the idea, after all if it ain't broke don't fix it. That said when it was clear that it wasn't working, that the D was fundamentally unsound, and was now allowing anyone to do anything to us. That is when Tucker should have stepped in and made changes to the system, and refocused the players on fundamentals. The whole of the bye week should have been spent drilling fundamentals into their heads. This is where I have issue with Tucker. Since he's taken over the D has looked undisciplined, fundamentally unsound, soft, and emotionless. There used to be a real swagger with the D and that's gone now they look defeated when the step onto the field. I know a coach can't go out and play for them but there's enough leadership on this team that a good-great coach should be able to have his men ready to play. That falls on Tucker. He may get one more chance next year, but I wouldn't mind replacing him with someone who can motivate, coach, and prepare a defense.

Because a franchise elite QB never ever makes any mistakes, or throws any ball that is not 100% perfect every time. Anything less is unacceptable. Come on man!

I agree and I see them resigning him to a deal that works for both. He's not going to get a crazy contract from us. The Bears have plenty of leverage, and the situation here is a good one for Jay withe weapons, and now a line that gives him protection. I also don't think he's an idiot and doesn't realize the D needs a lot of help this offseason and realizes that if he works out a cap friendly deal at least in the front end of the contract that the Bears can upgrade the D which in turn will help him and the offense out and help the team to be in a better position to push for a title. With our D this year it makes every miss step, or failure by the offense more magnified because every offensive possession becomes critical with a D that can't stop anyone, 3 and outs are far more disastrous, bad punts, and turnovers of any kind can be disaster and give the opponent a big momentum swing. Years past when our D was dominant we could cover for those things better. Now, anytime the offense has to leave the field without scoring brings the immediate threat of the opponent scoring. It puts the offense in a spot where they have to play nearly flawless to give us a chance to win. I'm not referring to any one game in particular but this season as a whole. If we would have had even a slightly below average D or middle of the road D this year we would have racked up a lot more wins and would be in position to make a deep push in the playoffs. Instead, had we won we'd probably have been knocked out in the first round. Changes will have to be made on D (stating the obvious I Know) but if we can improve to even an average D and the offense continues to grow, I do believe Jay can lead us to a championship. He's just an easy lightning rod in a disappointing season, partly his own doing, but the only way it can happen is if the D can be improved, and to do that Jay will have to work with the Bears on his contract if he wants to stay here.

And that drive would have continued had Jeffery caught that sideline pass, it was in his hands and he's made far more difficult passes. That was a huge drop on a well thrown ball. Thing is there were key failures by about every position at some point in this game. Dropped passes, plays where the RB should have been stopped at the line or for a loss only to see him rip off a long run. blown coverages, poor tackling (one play we had three guys on Nelson all three made contact, none made the tackle) poor throws at times, poor punts, etc. Offense, Defense, and Special teams had good moments and bad moments and some had ugly moments. I look at this as a team loss, we can focus on one player or one unit but it doesn't tell the full story.

..and that's what she said... sorry couldn't resist lol

I agree as well, locking Gould up for the next 4 years vs looking for a replacement either FA or draft to come in and kick at soldier field. Gould has been one of the best assets that our offense has at it's disposal, let's not forget what things were like when we couldn't find a kicker to save our lives. Robbie knows this stadium his accuracy, and range is worth keeping around. Now his counter part Podlesh.... I'd drop him off at the curb and tape a note to his back that reads "shanks alot!"

I thought I heard it was family related, Family is more important than a game. The timing sucked but we don't plan for family emergencies or situations. Two families I'm close with lost a loved one this past two weeks. Not saying that's what the deal with Earl was but if it was serious enough to pull him away from this game then I think we should cut him some slack.

I agree with Pix here, add in all the 1 year deals. The writing has been on the wall for the last few years, our D has been aging fast and it's time to get younger and/or fresh players in there to retool. I think there is a plan to retool. And I agree that while it's easy to look at the D and say Tucker should go, and maybe he should but at the same time it was a gamble to keep the same scheme from the old staff as the starting group were all familiar with it. However it was a gamble that didn't pay off as our D became more and more depleted. They gave the stat during the game that we've had the most turnover of personnel on D in the league. I'm guessing Tucker gets a second chance next season to put in his own scheme, with a healthy and upgraded D. What I do pin on Tucker is how fundamentally unsound and undisciplined this D has been this year. Even when we've had guys in position to make plays they fail. We don't tackle well, we don't cover well, we don't take good angles, and we don't contain. Even with backups you should at least at this level be fundamentally sound.

This is the part that stings the most. It's the freaking Packers, the team many of us hate more than anything. That smug Rodgers coming into our house and walking away a winner and Division champ and the sports nation again gets to laugh at the Bears who had the perfect setup to clinch last week, and turn in one the most embarrassing overall performances by a Bear team that I can recall witnessing, then to have the season come down to one game against your most bitter rival, and blow a winnable game. I can't begin to describe how much I hate the packers... I just hope they get their arse handed to them big time in their first playoff game. still wouldn't make up for this season... but at least in that moment I'd get a good chuckle.

haven't taken the time to look yet but who might be available as FA on D this offseason? the only ones I can think of off hand that I like are Greg Hardy DE from Carolina they are going to have some cap issues he could be a casualty. Jarius Byrd who's been mentioned in this thread. Aquib Talib and Alterraun Verner are a couple CB's who might look good in a Bears uni another who is a former Bear could bring back Corey Graham.

now we're going to never hear the end of how great Aaron Rodgers is. I hope the pukers get beat 3000 to 0 in the playoffs. Both the offense and the defense had several opportunities to have changed the outcome. If the offense doesn't start off ice cold and we take advantage of a slow start by GB we have a 1-2 score lead going into halftime. If the D comes up with stops on 4th downs and makes other key stops we maintain that lead through the second half. If Jeffery makes that catch, when we were up 28-27 and we finish the drive continues and we can chip more time off the clock and if we get 7 then GB has their backs against the wall down 2 scores. There are a lot of little moments that could have made a big difference. Like last week there is plenty of blame to go around. We should have been using time outs on d to preserve the clock and also give the d a chance to rest that last drive they were out there a long time.

freak this
-
every freakin break has gone to the packers. busted coverage at the worst possible spot. we give up a wide open TD. The Bears don't belong in the playoffs. I hope all the packers players get injured in their first playoff game.
-
dammit ball game there.
-
biggest 4th down of the season for the Bears D. Make the stop and you can virtually run out the clock they only have 1 time out left
-
that was delay of game!!!!! clock was at 0
-
seems like the packers get 1 extra yard on every spot. 45h and inches they'll probably score
-
drive is stalling fast.....
-
that was sick
-
lol Rodgers expecting a flag to bail them out again. We need to follow this up with a TD drive and make this an 8 point game
