  1. I like Britt too, but he has the exact character concerns that Marshall had--me first, prima donna. I could overlook them, though, because I think he's the number 2 WR in the class behind Crabtree. I'd take him over Maclin, DHB, Harvin or Nicks.

    Tate?

he's under 6 feet tall, weighs about 180, was never a very productive WR, is coming off an ACL injury, is not a good route runner, can't beat press coverage, isn't very tough. I don't really see him being a good buy for us anywhere before the end of the draft. i can't believe he's being discussed as a third round pick.
  3. and felony gun charges...
  4. is Plax even going to play this year? Sounds like he has a pretty good shot of being in jail or at least suspended., but I haven't kept up on it. He's a great WR, but he seems like a major headache for the coaches and front office. He doesn't show up to meetings, practice, etc.
  5. I think it was a bit of a stretch to take him at 18 to begin with, and between his Wonderlic (which by itself isn't a huge deal) and his weight gain, I don't think I would take him with our first pick. Fat WRs don't do well in the NFL.
  6. Here is what I would offer; Our first and third this year, and our second next year, for their first this year (31) and Boldin. That gives them essentially mid first round value (when the picks are added up based on the trade value chart), and gives them a package that looks more like the one Detroit got for Williams. It allows them to move up high enough in the first to get their choice of RB, which i'm guessing is what they'd take. It would allow us to still take a OT in the first, and still ahve a second to use for a FS. We'd still have a late third compensatory pick, and could use that to take a guard project or a pass-rush DE specialist. After the draft, we'd have a new RT, a new FS, a number 1 WR (Boldin), which is exactly what we need. I would almost rather pick at 31 than 18, as the OTs we want would probably still be there (at least 1 of them).
  7. Just change the title to Glen Holt signs. This is stupid. If people start doing childish crap like that, people won't visit the site anymore.

    Cutler

They might. They have a new owner and a new coach, and all new coordinators. Their top WR is a suspension waiting to happen, and their franchise qb publically wants out. They might want to stock up on picks and start over. I think the Bears would be a more attractive trading partner than the Lions though. The 1st pick is not a desirable pick, particularly with this qb class. The Bears pick at 18 is more desirable than either the #1 pick or the #20 pick. Second, Cutler to Calvin highlights would be on ESPN every night. He wouldn't have anyone to throw to in Chicago, so they'd be less likely to look stupid for trading him. I think the 49ers would make even more sense. They have a better pick (#10) and more QBs to choose from in return.
  9. We definitely should, and a 6th would probably be plenty. But I don't think we will, because I don't think Angelo has much room for upgrades right now.
  10. It's obviously tough to make a left guard highlight tape. I have a couple suggestions: 1. If you are able, try to get a spotlight on yourself. I don't know how to do this, but I tihnk it's relatively easy with the right software. I'm sure someone here could tell you how. The video is from pretty far away, so most plays I lost you pretty quickly. 2. I would pick the best 3 or 4 plays you made all year and put them first. Any play where you lay someone out, especially if you pull and move well and then kcock someone out of the play would be good. A lot of people aren't going to watch your whole tape, so you want what they see to be your best. Whoever is looking at this will be looking at a LOT of other tapes, and offensive guard tapes are probably not the most exciting, so make the first couple highlights grab your attention. It looked like you fell down on one of the first couple plays (though i couldn't tell for sure, since i lost which one was you, like i said), and i don't think i'd put that as one of my first plays. Nice work and good luck. It's funny how you have a mental picture of message board people without ever seeing them. My mental picture of you was a middle aged man looking like one of the superfans from SNL. Since you're in high school, i was obviously way off.
  11. 1) Hakeem Nicks, WR, NC 2) Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma 3) William Moore, S, Missouri I'd be happy with a first 3 rounds of this. One issue is that If Angelo continues to ignore RT, FS and WR in FA, it is going to be relatively easy for teams picking behind us to know exactly who we want and jump in fornt of us to take that player. I think that happend the year Angelo tried unsuccessfully to get randal-el to return kicks and playr wr. I think Angelo was targeting Santonio Holmes, but Pittsburgh traded in front of us to get him. It's nice to go into a draft not desperate for starters, so that teams can't easily predict what you are going to do. I guess the upside is we're deperate for 4 or 5 starters, so that'll make it a little harder.
  12. 2-49 Michael Johnson DE -compared to be like Peppers who teams also flagged Didn't Peppers go first or second overall? He couldn't have been flagged too much.
  13. I'm obviously not in agreement with Angelo, but I'd much rather have Barnes than St Clair. We already have one lineman without a true position that can fill it at either tackle or guard. I don't think we need another one. Omiyale and St Clair are versatile, which sounds nice but probably means they aren't good enough at any one position to stick there. It's nice to have one guy on your line that can fill nearly any position, but I don't want a whole line full of them. St Clair played LT for us left year, but he didn't play it very well--I think he gave up the most sacks of any starting lineman in the league. He played RT earlier in his career and was nicknamed "The Turnstile". And if you ask yourself what position is his natural position, you probably can't answer, because he doesn't have one, and I don't think that's a good thing.
  14. Not to be argumentative, but did you read the article, or just the title? Because the point of the article seemed not so much to be complaining that the Bears were cheap and that it is stupid not the spend money, it is the revelation that Angelo is being hamstrung THIS year by financial restraints from above. Not every year, this year. Your response didn't seem to haev anything to do with the gyst of the article.
  15. That sucks. Sometimes I hate being a Bears fan. I wonder what the major move was? My first guess is Warner, based on how much he talked about the qb position in December, and the lack of other free agent QBs. Second guess is Housh.
  16. Maybe JA doesn't want to waste money and 2010 cap space on players who may not fit into another head coach's system. If Lovie is on the outs after the season, perhaps JA is saving the cash for a retooling of the roster for a new coach.
  17. I think Moose signed just after FA opened. That's the only one I can remember.
  18. I think if one of DHB/Maclin falls to us, we could potentially trade down with the Giants, who have an extra 2nd round pick to spare. They might want to replace Plax. I think the numbers would work out for us to swap firsts and pick up on of the Giants second rounders. We could take Nicks or Britton in the first, then fill 2 of the OG/WR/RT/FS spots in the second.
  19. I think there is something to this. Angelo is signed through 2013, so he isn't going anywhere. If Angelo dumps Lovie after this season, they likely wouldn't fire him before his contract was up, so his fate would be tied to his next coach, who would probably get 3 years to prove he's the right guy. I don't know if it's so much that Angelo is sabatoging Lovie, but he might not want to make huge investments into players who only fit Lovie's scheme, when Lovie might not make it past this season if there is no turnaround. FWIW, reading between the lines of Angelo's statements, I think he is highly ticked off about the Rivera/Babich replacement, and that is part of why he made Angelo take over the DC position, and kind of tied his fate to being able to turn the D around.
  20. Taylor was hurt all year. He hurt his knee early in then had some wierd calf injury that put him out awhile. He has never been hurt before, and tried to play through it last year. He is kind of a diva, but he's good and he plays hard. As far as him walking away from 8 mil, he was walking away from the off-season regimen. They wanted him to come to Washington 3 times a week to work out, and he has 3 little kids at home. He didn't want to do that, he wanted to work out at home and see his kids in teh off-season. We have like 30 mil in cap room, we can afford to take a gamble on a large, short-term contract.
  21. If Nate Davis lasts til the late third or 4th I'd like to take a flier on him.

    Who at # 18

I don't get why the bean counters would be handcuffing him. The McCaskey's, from my understanding, get all their money from the Bears. The Bears will sell every ticket to every game again, and i doubt that the people who go will stop drinking beer or eating hot dogs. Maybe merchandise sales have taken a hit, but I would think the Bears bottom line would be in much better shape than anyone who gets their money from any other kind of business, since nearly all businesses have gone in the toilet. If Angelo is sitting on his hands because he doesn't think anyone is worth it, fine. I disagree, but fine. But if he isn't doing anything because the McCaskeys won't let him, and they are using the current economy as an excuse to go back to their frugal ways, then I'm kind pissed.
  23. i think, in general, it would be nice to have a front office that was honest with its fan base. A certain amount of discretion is important, but i have listened to a lot of GMs talk, and Angelo is one of the more evasive and least forthcoming of all. I think if he was a little more open about his intentions and his assessment of the team, he would earn a little more patience and trust from his fans. As it stands, when he sits on his hands as he is now, it makes him look either scared or stupid, because the team has a lot of gaping holes. Again, i know you can't spell out your wish list, but there are ways to be somewhat honest with your fan base without giving away your hand completely.
  24. I was hoping Jenkins would be available, but he resigned with Atlanta a month or so ago. It kind of slipped under the radar. I wouldn't mind the idea of using a second round pick on a guy like Nicks, Iglesias, Britt or Robiskie, then sending a late round pick to the Rams for Holt. Holt is severely on the decline, but he's one of the best route runners and students of the game, so if he could be even semi-productive (like 40-50 catches and 4-5 TDs) while mentoring Bennet and the new guy, I would enjoy that. He only has, i believe, one year left on his contract, so he'd be a relatively low-risk addition. Rumor is they will cut him if they can't trade him, so if we offered a 6th round pick for him, the Rams could bite on it, and we could avoid competing with anyone else to land him, and could avoid adding years to his deal.
