Why waste another high pick on a QB when we need a LT and C and several players on the DL that give us a serious QB pressure rushing 4 players.

Give Fields better protection and decent play calling and he might be able to thrive. We would be able to address the holes in our starting O and D, then become a legitimate team. I would rather strengthen the team in the 2024 draft and free agency. Then if you are right that Fields is terrible we will have a strong roster to draft a high first round QB in 2025.

Why not enjoy pulling within a score instead of bashing Fields. We have lots of holes that need addressing instead of using a no. 1 pick on another lottery pick.

There is no way Bears sack Flus and Getsy before the end of the season, I don’t think we have changed coaches mid-season, it’s something I cannot remember, but I might be wrong. I liked Fields play yesterday and agree that the play that lead to the sack is something that should not have be called. I think the chance of a sack is greater with that play and we could not afford to have a sack there. So Getsy was able to call a good game other than a couple of plays here and there. Can Getsy, learn and improve? I don’t know. My biggest disappoint was the defense giving up the 21 point lead considering that Flus’ background is on that side of the ball. If he had a coordinator calling the plays then I could understand there could be a disconnect between what Flus and his assistant wanted to call. If a head coach cannot effect the side of the ball which is his specialism, then how can he be competent leading the team.

Looking through a critical lens how do you think Fields has played today and has the play calling catered to his strengths.

Is it better play calling or a terrible defense? Hopefully a bit of both. Fields looks significantly better today and getting him outside of the pocket seems to be helping.

Good series from the D, fingers crossed we can get a lead. So far Fields looks better today. Nice to get a break it’s unusual for the Bears, we nearly always get stiffed.

If we have 2 top ten picks in the draft I’m hoping, if available, we draft stud DEs so that we have a decent pass rush and also spend improving the defense in free agency unless we can significantly improve the oline. Until we strengthen the other areas no one can say that Fields cannot become a decent QB. Also if coaching is an issue this needs to be addressed. Until we have a serviceable oline, which injuries have prevented, we cannot make an accurate assessment of Fields has a pocket passer. Unfortunately you cannot put one of the top 5 QBs behind our line to gauge how they would perform.

I think there are still a lot of unanswered questions with Fields before we can move on to drafting another QB. I don’t know if the oline is currently good enough for any QB to thrive and are Flus and Getsy up to the job. Poles definitely has some hard decisions to make.

I agreed with moving on from Mack, Smith etc. because we would be in a great position in the salary cap, but this defense is bad. It’s going to be a long year whether or not Fields manages to make great strides later in the year.
