  1. So, because KJ doesn't play on special teams, we sit him.

Brilliant coaching staff we have. They forget that Wolfe and AP have no business backing up Forte?

KJ is a hell of alot better RB than them two combined. Now, i'm not hating on Wolfe and AP.

    But, it's the truth.

Sure KJ is better than AP and Wolfe, no argument. BUT since Forte plays so well we don't need him ATM as a backup. Right now he would just steal an active roster spot over a DB or OL. Right now KJ is a luxuary we don't need to activate ATM.

  2. This idiot coaching staff thinks AP is a better RB than KJ apparently.

More than likely it's all about roster spots. KJ doesn't contribute on ST. AP and Wolfe does that and by keeping KJ out the Bears can have both Buenning adnd Williams on the active roster. Two players that I'm more interested to see on the field than Kevin Jones ATM. It's not like he has taken a chance on the plays he was given earlier in the season.

  3. Can anyone answer this?

I watched the game online yesterday, so it was a bit more limited. One thing I wonder is, how much did Harrison play. He seemed to play more, but I really don't know how much.

But my main question is, on Harris' sacks, who was the NT? I think there are multiple reason for the improved defensive play (playing an awful team, some new scheming like stunts, new inspiration) but I also wonder how much personnel changed had to do w/ it.

I rewatched the sacks (thank you NFL game pass) and it was the same lineup on both sacks:

    Ogunluye-Adams-Harris-Anderson

Noticeable: 1st sack was against a STL 2-TE set and Anderson had almost driven the LT into Green as well.

My impression was that, in general, Dusty was in on running plays and that Harrison spelled Harris as the 3-technique tackle.

  4. might be the winner there...

the blame is not all on Hester, but I have to say he does not look like the same returner...other than a few twirls here and there, it seems like he is now running straight forward...

IMO, I think the fast DE version of Idonije is more missed. He must have lost a step or two when he bulked up to be a DT.

  5. ...

I would further point out the following. According to all sources, at least that I have read, Lovie originally wanted to hire Babich (I believe) to be the DC, but Angelo (among others) said no. They basically forced Lovie to hire Rivera. Rivera was not a Lovie guy, but our defense looked good running a combo of Lovie's scheme, buy w/ Rivera mixing it up better. Why not see that again.

The way I heard it Lovie's first choice was Marinelli, but Tampa wouldn't let him go. Babich was then the second choice, but JA stepped in. I might be wrong here but that's what I recall. Anyone who has better memory than me?

BTW, Marinelli will probably be fired in the offseason, does anyone want him as DC? I know it would still be Cover-2 and Lovie's guy, but I would have more faith in Marinelli than Babich.

(just to clarify, I don't want this. I'm just throwing it out there for debate!).

  6. or its so heavily incentive laden it something he would never reach.

It's incentive laden and inherited from the Bucs! Suntimes had a piece on it today:

    Coach, put me in

Marcus Hamilton has more reason than any player to nag special-teams coordinator Dave Toub for playing time. The cornerback, whom the Bears claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay in September, topped the annual salary list produced by USA Today on Thursday, an unlikely name to see. Hamilton's salary-cap figure for 2008 is $10,242,941, the result of a $10 million incentive that he will not see.

Hamilton collects the bonus if he participates in 90 percent of the special-teams snaps for the season -- a figure he's not close to achieving because he's not on the field-goal team -- and blocks six punts. His next blocked punt will be his first.

The contract allows the Bears to eat up their leftover cap room for this season and earn a credit of $10 million for 2009, and it's a product of the contract Hamilton signed with the Buccaneers and the Bears inherited when they claimed him. More maneuverability under the cap the next two seasons will be necessary as the league moves to an uncapped year in 2011.

Still, it can't hurt for Hamilton to see himself picking the ball off a punter's foot in his dreams, over and over again.

''Nothing is impossible,'' he said. ''But I go in every day and just work.''

The player with the highest non-inflated cap figure this season is cornerback Charles Tillman, who checks in at $8,216,666.

  7. I'm sure we did use it...but I think what nfo and I are getting at, is we want it more than once in a blue moon on short yardage...

I hear both of you! I just reacted to what sounded as we haven't used it at all.

BTW. After Paynes interception, 17 sec left of 3rd quarter, 2nd and goal! Playfake. Tight throw to Olsen in double coverage and a drop.

  8. When? I recorded the Minny game last night off NFL.com, and intend to watch tonight. Let me know when we ran that so I can watch for it.

Were we simply in our moose package? Did we run the ball or pass? Was the FB in as well as the TEs? Where was Olsen lined up?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am just really interested to know, if we did in fact run a 3 TE set, how we did it.

IIRC it was on the short yardage play when we got the PI, but I'm not sure. I remember it because the announcers mentioned it. But it was for one or two plays. I don't really watch the games on the same level as most of you guys are doing it (due to my location, I don't have have the same backrground as you. But I'm a fast learner).

  9. I'm gonna spend five days in Chicago during this and next week and need some help on what to do.

Most important: I need to find myself a good sports bar for the Bears game Sunday! I'll be staying downtown close to the Millenium Park. Any recommendations?

Best way to get downtown from the airport? Taxi or are there any kind of bus or train?

I will be buying jerseys! Any recommendation of sports stores that are affordable or having a great selection? Or is the official store the way to go?

Good bars and restaurants that are affordable! I need to try polish sausages and pizza, but where?

I enjoy music a lot. Indiepop, metal, punkrock, jazz you name it! Any recommendations here? Any website with schedules or similar?

General advice! Where to go! Where to NOT go! Best way to move around the town without a car?

    Thanks!

  10. This is just a bad PR move by Urlacher. He is not only tarnishing his own legacy, but also making the Bears front office look like they don't take care of their own.

If this goes on for awhile, people are going to start bringing up the selfish player stereotype. Singletary, Butkus, did they ask for new contracts with 4 years left on their current ones? Even if they were playing today, they would never do that. That is just what type of people they were. Obvioulsy Brian doesn't belong with them. As a player maybe, but thats about it.

You mean the same Mike Singletary that held out until the '85-season started because he wanted his 6 year deal from 83 restructured?

http://www.bearshistory.com/seasons/1985chicagobears.aspx (look below "season news and notes"

It's a part of the game, deal with it. I personally believe that the offer Urlacher has received is more than fair, but until he refuses to start a game I can't really bother to care much.
