  1. As I watched the game I noticed the thing that concerned me the most. No one wanted to win that much. I am tired of Lovie standing at the podium and talking about bad we were or how they were unprepared. I own my own business and if my staff is killing me I have to show them the door. Granted is that I won't owe anyone 11 million dollars. But this falls back on Angelo. He needs to make Lovie a head coach and not a defensive coordinator/coach. Bring in someone that will make people accountable.
  2. Although I agree that we need to be more innovative and not rely on the status quo, one of the problems with a team like ours is that we need a semblance fo a running game to keep teams honest. We had a better running attack on sunday. So going into sunday we need to let arizona know they are going to have to keep someone at home for Cutler scrambling (opening up intermediate middle routes), keem the cards honest with screens. I also want to see Davis more and Olsen in the slot. We have great speed in hester and knox. With olsen spread out it helps with quick screens (if cards are playing tight) and a ten yard fade with a 6'5 guy is tough to defend with a linebacker or a safety. POint is we can win but I wonder if this team is tough enough or pissed enough to want to win.
  3. The problem with pointing the finger at lovie, which I agree is a bit of a politician, is that the more we do it the more we will want him gone. To boot him is to boot Angelo. Of the coaches that could possibly replace lovie. The ones that we want (Shannahan, Cowher) aren't cover two guys, and we would lose a lot of guys on the staff. So the two edged sword of, stand pat or change, is going to cut us no matter what.
  4. I love the moves on O-line if we can afford them. We need some people with bad intentions some road graders to make a hole. And tackles that can hold the end occasionally. My favorite thing that you said is Griffith. Don't know much about him, but a good fullback makes the running back better they are generally more effective at running screens due to the fact that they get that initial block and not the brush that an everydown back gives. With the idea of an uncapped year is when we see just how much we want to win because we have two facts. Green Bay won't get worse next year and if Favre is up for another year, we had better make some moves.
  5. Another problem is that if we do let him go then we have two innevitable problems. If we let him go would his replacement be good with the cover two because that is what our defense is staffed around. If he isn't then we are looking at years of rebuilding both on offense and defense. Most coaches come with their guys. If we went cowher the house would be cleaned out. Shannahan would be the closest.
  6. I own my own business and there are two types of employees. Those that are driven to succeed and are invested no matter the job (10%). Those that are clock punchers. When you are not looking they aren't working. They do just enough. They look at their job as a right and not a privelege (90%). As for me in my business, when the attitude switches you are fired. I am not comparing my business to the bears. But it is easy to see why the players love lovie. He is easy on them. Sometimes it is good to have some fear and public humiliation to get someone going. If our team was filled with 10%ers this wouldn't be a problem or even a coach could get them to act like 10%ers once in a while.
  7. Let's not get too ahead of things. Cincy lost at home to a team that was 3-2. What makes me nervous about Minny is that they don't have too many cold weather games at the end of the season. So their typical late season meltdown might not be as typical this year.
  8. Motivation shouldn't be a problem against Cincy. Kill benson/don't go 3-3.
  9. With so many opportunities to win. And to self destruct. Fumbles inside the 20, interceptions inside the 20, penalties inside the 20. All signs of a team that isn't mentally tough. Play calling was crap, special teams wasn't good. What I didn't like was our defense looked scrambled and confused. Also, as has been said before. Our o-line has no push for the running game. We deserve to lose games like that.
  10. Great game. Great Minny meltdown. Coming away from this game I saw on multiple occasions Jared Allen's effort to get outside, create great holes. In fact, it became predictable in the second half that they would semi-give Allen the outside and they would go right at him for decent games and a touchdown. Again this was in Minny. I like our chances. Against either team.
  11. Let's not forget that before he left Dallas he had games when he dropped key passes. People confuse Dallas' current woes on the fact that a less than confident Willaims should not have replaced T.O., with their inability to stop people. I think that bringing in T.O. as a number one would mess with the chemistry of this young team. How will we know if Cutler can make our young recievers the next Marshall and Royal.
  12. I think that one of the biggest keys is getting an early push from the front four. Just get up field and make Ryan uncomfortable. We will be rested so no reason not to bust up the middle with bad intentions. On paper we are pretty similar in points scored and points allowed. I see the difference in that they started the year with games against weak offenses.
  13. My momma said, "even the sun shines on a dogs ass once in awhile." Now that can be taken for each team. Me personally I think that the bears came went on the road, looking on paper and believing that they should walk all over them. It proves the point that every one should come ready every game. So for all those that look ahead to detroit with the same mentality as was the case with Seattle. Tread carefully.
  14. Congratulations. Good story. Now, I'm not saying it is a certainty, but after about 10 or so years and she starts recording over games and planning activities during games. Remind her of that great weekend when there was a bears game and then a ring. The bears are a family tradition. My daughter's favorite thing to do is watch a game with her dad. My four year old is juiced because he finally inherited the Urlacher jersey from his older brother. Traditions aren't made by taking weekends off.
  15. Without Hasselbeck I can see blitzes in Seatles future. Blitzes to an unproven quarterback increases levels of impatience for recievers to get open. Increased impatience for seneca means check downs to running backs and not big yards for recievers. Is it me or was both Housh and TO born under power lines. Telling your opposing defense that you will show them doesn't make it any easier on your unproven quarterback.
  16. I find it funny that Mora won't just call it. It gives false hope to Seahawk fans. Because, I highly doubt that the bears are dumb enough to plan on hasselback playing. The medical staff knows the protocol for a fractured rib. Even if you inject the best stuff available he still will have difficulty breathing and will have major problems (if the fracture is on the right side) genereating anything with zip or depth. Bottom line is he needs rest. Especially with all the other injuries they currently have. Why succept Hasselback to the possibility of worsening his condition. I only say all this because the game plan for Seneca is very different than Hasselback. We can expect more wildcat and rollouts.
  17. If he does have a cracked rib, especially down where he was hit, he won't be playing this week.
  18. To pull out a win against the steelers is great. To do so with no running game is not a good habit to get into. Against Seatle we should look to pound the ball. If we don't try and run then teams don't bite on play action. If they don't fear our running ability, then teams will stay in packages against the pass, trusting that the front guys will handle the run. No to mention that the longer we go without really running the ball the less confidence we have in running which will worsen with each quarter and each game. I highly doubt that Hasselback will play. Rib injuries that cause players to collapse don't heal up in a week. And Seneca is not going to beat you with his arm. LETS RUN IT DOWN THEIR THROATS!
  19. 4 interceptions (we should have had at least two more) and one stupid short snap on special teams (produced a short field and a field goal) is enough to lose and lose big. The real agonizing part is that we were ahead with one minute left in Green Bay. Those interceptions were either on the quarterback for not knowing the route or the reciever for screwing up the route. Either way it is a familiarity/chemistry issue. Fast forward to our other game in chicago and the story I feel will be different.
  20. We did not deserve to win as has been said. 4 turnovers and one real stupid play (Mannelly direct snap)
  21. think Aaron Rodgers still throws for over 300 and atleast a TD or 2, he's that good. I hate to say it but the guy can throw the ball and our defense is still suspect. Unless Zack Bowman turns into Champ Bailey and plays in all the games this season, we are going to still struggle against the pass. I still see the Bears coming out on top though. Yes he can throw. My hope is that the changes in the defense (Lovie calling it, Marinelli teaching it) will provide the pressure that we need to take him out of rhythm. I agree, defense is the key. But the real advantage we have is that a 1st year defense with so little time to gel and coordinate will struggle the first few games of the season. Not to mention that their defense has little to use (a preseason where only a little of the real offense is shown) to plan for a Cutler driven bear offense.
  22. Chicago It seemed that the bears were content to run a small set of plays to build on field chemistry. I didn't notice a lot of two tight end sets or Olsen in the slot or lined up on the outside. I mention these because I see those two sets doing well against Green Bay on Sunday. Green Bay Going to a 3/4 defense is tough having run something different the year before. First: New personel to fit the defense means decrease in team chemistry. This helps our running game due to the changes in the middle. I know Raji looked decent in the preseason but I like our chances up the middle. Perfect time to play green bay in green bay is the first game of the year. Cutler gives us something that green bay has never seen from us before: a quarterback with an accurate arm and a quarterback that, when the pocket collapses can either run or rollout and still throw the ball "3/4 mile" (Uncle Rico).
  23. I think that a third or fourth would do it. Being a fellow aggie I followed his career closely due to the fact that besides Chris Cooley they are all I have. In college he was the priority and he still torched teams. In St. Louis he still produced well with two pro bowlers he shared catches with. In chicago he would be a great slot/posession reciever.
  24. After watching this draft video it seems that this is a scheme pick. From this video he is impressive.
  25. I like this if defensive linemen abandon club and swim technique and we just have d-line leapfrogging over the offensive line. .
