  1. Does everyone think Dalman is the focus on free agency? What is the backup plan? ATL is under water with their cap and already pay big contracts to 2 OLs. He should be available but is he worth 15 mil if we get in a bidding war? I think something like a 12 mil a year secures him. Seen some other options I didn't think about. Kelly is older and has had injuries the last two years. I don't think he's in play. Joel Myers was brought up on X . Young getting better every year and robs GB of his services. 4 penalties, I sack, 29 pressures "I brought up Evan Brown who has played center 2 of his last 4 years and rated well last year as a guard.( LG) Coleman Shelton had 4 penalties, 3 sacks, 26 pressures last year playing every snap. He ranked as the 19th best center. We could do worst. Lastly is Ryan Bates over his shoulder problem with stem cell therapy? Poles likes him, brought him in to play Center. Can he do it this year? Plus he is still on the roster. Hopefully Dalman is the guy and don't have to think about it.
  2. There are better options than Mack. Poles has a tendency to add younger players if he's handing out high salaries. Several options at DL.
  3. Others I pay attention to are Dane Brugler, Matt Miller and like the Draft Buzz website. Great Blue North Draft Report and Ourlads
  4. Not knowing how much influence the new coaches have as far as roster construction, Poles has several options at 10. If BPA, it could be Jeanty but , if possible, a trade back would add more assets as a lot of so called experts claim about 15 Blue Chip players and then a large group ( 15-50) about the same quality. If we can get an extra top 50 pick, it would give us 4 options in the 50 and pick 72. Those all should be eventual starters in the first 2 years. Poles is tight lipped when making decisions, so I am sure there are some surprises along the way.
  5. Totally, Poles plan at OL turned out crap. Braxton and the potential of Kiran will be judged by how they view the main 3 LTs in the draft . I'm saying the possibility of one of those 2 being our left tackle this year are likely. If they like Banks a lot, he is the most logical choice. The LT position in the draft is very limited. Being in Thailand, I spend a lot at time looking at free agency and the draft, only so much beach and partying that my body can do. A lot of people think Braxton gets one more year to prove himself before he's due a contract. That's some local press and national. The consensus that Braxton is terrible isn't everybody.
  6. Still several options out there. Evan Brown, Becton, Kevin Zeitler, Will Fries. Brian Kelly, Dalman and Evan Brown are the choices at center.
  7. Brad Holmes, the GM made those decisions , when asked Ben said he had nothing to do with it. I'm not trying to say Swift is great but he's not chump change either. Swift went to the pro bowl the year he played in Philly, he was only there on a one year deal. Would you rather sign Barkley or resign Swift? That's not brain surgery. Barkley wasn't available the yr before. I agree he probably won't be here after next year but he had production every place he played until he came here. So by your logic, we should be in the SB after we cut Swift. Got it
  8. He drafted Kiran with that intention but don't think he expected the competition for LT until this year due to his injury. It all comes down to their evaluation of Campbell - Banks - Simmons. I don't think he drafts an injured player after the Kiran pick last year. Campbell will be gone so it comes down to his opinion on Banks. I get Braxton is just an average LT but with need at IOL , Jones could slide by this year with Kiran as his competition. Darrnel Wright keeps getting praise but had more penalties 8, more sacks 6 and more pressures 30 than Braxton did last year. I don't think Poles throws away his 5th round LT starter and his 3 rd pick last year that easily. If he upgrades 3 IOL spots, I think that may upgrade the play of both OTs. Good play calling and more chip support on the outside may make both OTs perform better. Our play caller left our LT on an island when we played Jared Verse with no support. Bad idea.
  9. As much as Jeanty is going to be a stud in the NFL, the bears won't be drafting him. Johnson clearly relies on a 2 back system, if you draft a #1 it will change the dynamic of a team trying to feature a QB. Johnson came here because of Caleb. They will draft a RB to upgrade the power game, Swift will do well under Johnson as the scat back. The bad OL also affected the running game as well as the passing game. Johnson talked about impact players also on defense as well as offense. Caleb - DJ- Odunze - Kmet and a combo RBs. The first pick will be an impact player, probably D, Campbell seems to be the only top 10 OL player. If not there, I think they draft a DE or DT. Banks, Simmons, are the only true LT in the draft and so far haven't been evaluated to top OL pick values. All the other high rated OL seemed destined to RT or move inside. They may deem them that and change the # 10 pick evaluation. IOL has great depth and can be gotten with 39-41 if that's where they choose to draft them. IMO, I think the first player will be a DL pick, 39-41 OL and 72 open. I think they bring in 2 starters on the OL and 1 of 2 DL . News today at the combine is Abdul Carter has a stress factor in his foot, probably surgery. If he drops to 10, would you take him knowing he will miss the beginning of the season?
  10. Johnson was asked about that and he said he had no input into that decision. If you goggle it, you will find the reasons he was traded was not because of performance. He was going into his last year of his contract and had missed games every year due to injuries and Brad Holmes decided to draft a RB ( 2 1st round picks) and let Swift play out his contract. He wasn't going to pay him. After they drafted Gibbs, and signed David Montgomery, Swift went to Holmes and requested a trade. 2022 / 99 carries/ 542/ 5.5/5 TDs. 48 receptions/389/8.1/3 TDs
  11. Ben Johnson talked about redoing the OL in one year and cited that the Panthers did that last year. They Signed Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis as OGs. Austin Corbett was a FA they acquired in 2022 from Cleveland. Taylor Morton is their RT a 2017 second round pick and LT is a #1 pick from 2022. Their OTs aren't highly rated and Robert Hunt is there best player at LG but as a unit they played well together . If we add 3 new starters to the IOL we can accomplish the same thing.
  12. First I think people under value Swift. In a Ben Johnson offense, he can make big plays but we definitely need a power back of which lots of choices in 3rd and beyond. I want the first 4 picks to be 2 DL and 2 OL , drafted at where their value is. My ideal situation would be trade back, get an extra 3rd, take Mike Green - Jack Sawyer - prince Umanmielen. Then in the second Johan Savaiinaea and Grey Zabel. At 72 - Joshua Farmer ( 10 sacks -20 TFL- 74 tackles. 4.85 speed.) he is the 120th overall ranked player so may be gotten with an extra 3rd round pick. Draft Ollis Gordon, 6-1 233 4.45 speed
  13. Not sure but 2 Spots should at least get a 4th and 6th? Don't know where to grab the value formula. I think they get 2 vets on the OL and then draft a starter type Campbell -Cooper -Donovan Jackson. Then get a OL that can play multiple positions for the future.
  14. Here's some info on top OL in draft.
  15. Like you stated, make the league think you're interested for trading value. Of course he would be nice to draft but with that pick you need trenches, best OL or DL, a difference maker. Carter, Mason, or Campbell. Go for it but Jeanty could be BPA at 10. Which I would try to trade back.
  16. Two years ago, DeMarcus Walker was coming off a 7 sack season and you see that was his high. Rotational player but never a riser. Chase Young is stuck in the 7 sack range after the surgery but Sweat has had 7 sacks or better 3 of the last 4 seasons. 33 total. He will be overpriced but has a higher upside with him. Drafting a stud DE will only be gotten in the draft. We do need to add to the room as Booker will need to prove himself with the new coaches. Not sure who else in free agency that would be a value signing at DE. None stick out. Green looks great but Allen likes bigger DEs, I think Sawyer would be available in the second round and has upside. Stewart has been mentioned because of his size but lacks production. Princely Umanmien is impressive. 90 Ts, 10.5 sacks, 14 hurries and 13.5 tfl Jordan Burch/Oregon could be a surprise in round 3 , 6.6 295 with 4.68 speed. He only had 3 sacks his senior season but was very productive his other years.
  17. From everything I have looked at Campbell is the only top 10 OT and he has short arms that questions a OG at 10? Have seen Banks Jr in top 10 a few times. Simmons is next and the injury pushes him out of top 15 . Those are the only OTs considered blue chip to some. If Campbell is there at 10, I would move back and take Banks? Unfortunately no one in this draft is Jon Alt. They obviously have the best information to judge. Zeilter was top 5 ranked guard last year. Dalman is the best center out there but isn't an all pro center. Brown only gave up 2 sacks and had 2 penalties last year. Not a top guard but could hold the spot down until a rookie is ready plus can play center. He's the perfect bridge player until a rookie is ready at not a big payout. We still have money for a high end edge. Josh Sweat or Chase Young. We just don't have enough assets to fill every spot with a top flight player.
  18. If we had Stanley instead of Braxton this year, he had 13 penalties, 2 sacks, 4 QB hits and 35 pressures . 39th ranked T. Braxton : 7 penalties, 5 sacks, 2 QB hits and 26 pressures. Granted he had 300 less snaps. 20 th ranked T We would be trying to replace Stanley if he was our T . Is he a better player than Braxton, of course but is he worth paying 22 to 25 mil a year, Instead of 4 mil? No way in hell. Instead of 23-25 mil a year for Trey Smith, I suggest Dalman 10-12 mil, Kevin Zeilter 8-10 mil and Evan Brown 6-8 mil. LG- C-RG . All had good years last year. Zeilter would only have 2 good years left but Brown and Dalman will be here longer. You cut Bates, that's the same cost as Smith. I think the combination of Braxton and Kiran will be left at LT to see what ones improve. You have enough to pay one DL a big salary. Add 2 of the 3 high picks on DL, one to a versatile OL that could cover several positions if someone fails. Zabel can play every OL positions. Draft a RB at 72. I suspect one of the picks will be a trade back so will have another 2nd or 3rd pick for a S, WR, TE. On X all these journalists have us drafting a RB( maybe), CB, S ,TE, WR , LB in our first 4 picks. That's crazy. Trenches, trenches, trenches. DL, RB, and TE have great depth in this draft. WR is not far behind in the middle rounds. We have enough assets to add to put us in the playoffs next year. The key will be Caleb, in how far we go. Coaches upgraded, OL upgraded,DL upgraded.
  19. Sure did take a long time to get that done. No wonder Jacksonville has problems.
  20. Yup, they will bring one in free agency ( higher level) and probably be one of the first 2 picks. Walker was a good rotational player but he was a starter in the present Def. I suspect they thought that was to much money for a 3rd or 4th. The new coaches may want different types and already discussed who they wanted. Young played under Allen. Also Allen was in Oakland when Mack was drafted, plus Sheldon Rankins was released by Bengals and played in NOs under Allen. We may be interested in them.
  21. Don't think it says anything about the future of Kmet. They didn't throw enough to TEs in general and were paying to much for a backup TE spot with no production. Also released was DeMarcus Walker. Allen likes more size in his DEs. Which also could effect the future of Austin Booker . 6-6 245.
  22. ATL took Robinson with a high pick, Gibbs was a high pick and obviously Barkley was. I think anyone taking a RB that has plans on running the ball. Today's NFL is balanced oriented for the good teams . Not to say they build around them but definitely have big plans for them.
  23. This draft has a handful of those in the first and with pick 39 or 41. We can get one.
  24. He will probably be the BPA on the board at 10. He also could be trade bait for extra picks. Jeanty is the player you take as the last piece or a player to build a team around. I think Caleb is that guy. It's tricky building both the OL and DL in one draft. I say our first 4 picks should be trenches. PERIOD. If we get a Cunningham boost, that would be the place to grab a RB. There will be lots left in the 4th to choose from as a compliment to Swift which will excel under Johnson.
