Mike Tice rates Conerly one of the top LT prospects in the draft and will go higher than early 2nd his kid was saying.
-
That was dumb, it won't be the last time I do that.

It doesn't have to be, but if you draft someone like Barkley or Bjan Robinson you probably are going to have the offense runs thru him, at least he will be the focus of the offense. Johnson clearly stated he wants the offense to run thru Caleb. KC offense runs thru the QB but likes a good running game for balance. I think Johnson looks at it the same way. He uses a 2 back system to keep the defense off balance with Monty and Gibbs but wants Caleb to be his focus. Philly had the advantage of a good passing offense and great OL, when they added Barkley. A quality defense helps. Do we have the team yet to add the final piece as Philly did last year? Not quite there yet. I've been looking at RBs today and there are a lot of good ones that could be starting backs for many teams. The great depth at RB this year will figure into when the bears take a RB. Actually none of that matters, Jeanty won't be there at 10 anyways.

Because of only a small number of blue players, this year's draft is going to be wildly different that what people predict. There will be 4 or 5 players taken in the first round no one expected. Some slip to the second that was rated higher.
-
Yes he said that. He also has Brisker and Byard that do that well. Edwards had 4 sacks last year.

With such a deep draft in RBs, I don't see a first round RB pick. They can get a 2 nd or 3rd round pick that could contribute in a rotational capacity right away. Johnson doesn't run a load back system. 2 yrs ago they had a chance to draft Robinson but moved back and took Gibbs in Detroit. His philosophy is to never let the defense know what he's doing. That's why Monty and Gibbs both got a lot of carries in Detroit. If you have a load back that simplifies the offense for a DC.
-
It's hard to predict trades but they absolutely will consider that. If we could could get an extra 2nd and 4 th, that would be great.

ND is considered a local school.

We visited with ND WR Beaux Collins today. 4.52 speed at 6.4. Not a speed guy. Seems to be a lot of late round, UDFA types we are taking visits with.

Something that will affect the draft that people don't talk about is what players on the team that they view valuable that we think they need to draft a backup? The Braxton/ Kiran debate is an example. If they think they have the position covered, it will eliminate a early OL pick at 10 . If they think it's a problem, it could be at 10. Personally I think we take an OL in the second round that they don't think needs to start his first year. Conerly could fill that spot at 41.

Anything goes in the draft. I didn't realize until a few days ago that we added 8 players from last year's draft were visits. Just saying odds are some of our draft picks will be on that list. Poles keeps information tight, he's not even letting visit information out .
-
They only get 30 visits so I think it just shows interest in a player. They also met players at pro days, all star games also. Here's a podcast with Greg Gabriel that explains the process at this time of year. https://www.youtube.com/live/xa0I_fmIS_0?si=w8WmEBxHjsutmsUr

It's just another tool to look at for analyzing a player. Production, improving every year, football IQ, work ethic, love of football, character all come into play. I remember we drafted a DE from Penn State in the first round that was a monster but wasn't in love with football. He failed because of a lack of focus. He told you in the interview but they still took him. It was just a well paid job for him. It matters.

I think who they are looking at tells you what round they're planning to draft a position.

I looked up Dennis Allen's DL from 2023, 6-4 287--6 324--6-4 315--6-5 261 We already have similar players in place. 6-6 272, 6-6 275, 6-1 304, 6-1 311, 6-6 310. Counted both Jarrett and Billings. This is Billings last year and Jarrett has age. Totally expect a DT in the first 3 picks. Pierce is rated the 2 nd best edge by many and the second round will have several choices but not sure how they rate them. Allen runs an aggressive blitzing D . I hate to say it but that may make Walker in play at 10. Who's our 3rd lber?
-
I listen every week and if the blue players are gone figure out what 3 they're capable of getting. The blue players they would take if there. Carter-Graham Warren -Jeanty . Don't think any will be. Many pundits say 9-50 similar in value so then who? That's the magic question.
-
I like Meatheads too and was afraid Ben Johnson was to much a nerd type but he has proven to be a red ass. I think Johnson didn't like the Jobs that were open and thought they get to a SB which would have looked good on a resume. So now he chose Caleb to live with and it's history now.
-
Totally agree, he had a soft spot for Flus because they started together but better people in place now , he can let everything evolve. I think Warren interfiled in talking to Harbaugh last year. Don't know if we would have hired him but obviously with Johnson's contract, money wasn't a problem.

The draft is only a few weeks away. That's when posts get serious.

I like hype videos, it's gets me excited for football. Poles has made mistakes but I think for him he's learning on the job because he never did this before. His first year, people were complaining he didn't have enough weapons for Justin which caused him to reach for Velous Jones and went after Claypool. I think he's starting to get it right.
-
I'm on his X account and someone mentioned this, his response was ( 310 and lean) . I use to jump on a story without back checking it and have posted bad information on here before. Now I try to get verification first.

It's hard to have a stable OL we one player is constantly in and out of the lineup. It wasn't just missing a few games but in the middle of a game he would come out. It would be nice as a backup but I suspect we want a couple rookies to develop behind our starters.
-
I use to follow him for the same reason, lots of interesting things he put out. Then I realized he had bad sources or was making stuff up. I don't follow him anymore.
-
It's not about you but taking a snipe at Eric Lambert, he always puts crap out there and you follow him.
-
He weights 310 with less body fat. People think that pic was photo shopped. Sources matter, I'm on his X account. A note: Jarrett, Sweat, Booker, Dexter have been working out together in Florida and a draftee Tyler Baron has been working out with them. Wonder if that will be a sign of him being a future Bear? 6'5"-259-4.62 speed. 6 sacks last year.
