My best case scenario is signing a Trey Smith or Kevin Zeilter RG, bring back Shelton and and draft a multiple position OL, that could fit where you need him and draft a center prospect to sit behind Shelton until he's ready.
-
I would love that scenario. Also I have seen where Marus Mbow is a OT from Purdue that is a center candidate. A second or third round pick.
-
I get the impression he is Mcvay and Shanahan type of coach. Hope I'm right.
-
At least you acknowledge his success, no QBs are perfect, I see Mahomes lock on WRs at times. I think he has been great this season and if sometimes he locks on WRs, I don't care. Caleb holds the ball to long, you don't seem to bring that up very much. I still think Caleb will be great inspite of holding the ball to long.

The latest rumor i just heard was the Bears are enamered by Will Johnson/CB and will trade up in the draft to get him. Where do these idiots come from?
-
Had he fired Flus a year ago who would have been the HC? I'm saying Johnson is heads above a last year hire.
-
Last year the home run would have been Jim Harbaugh but Warren had a problem with him in the Big 10. So we got Flus back. To me, Johnson seems like a Mcvay or Shanahan type of hire. Did destiny have us go thru a reset year to get us to the right Coach and drafted QB? Had we had a winning season, Flus could still be here. I'm going with the Bears God lined the Stars for this union to take place. Instead of talking about winning seasons, I think we are going to be talking about how many SBs did we win 10 years from now.

The only rumors I totally trust comes from Ryan Poles when he announces it.
-
I remember we went after McGlinchey but he wouldn't pay over 12 mil and thank God Denver paid more, 5/87.5 mil. Free agency rarely gets value.
-
I tend not to believe rumors but I do trust Biggs. He seems not to jump on just any rumor.

I'm in Thailand now so my news is opposite time zones. NO has a history of good lines of which must have been Boucher. I liked Shaw also. We don't know if all of this will be successful but sure looks like it from this point. The lack of success on our OL had to fall mainly on Morgan. It just never seemed in sync.We talk about replacing everyone but Lucas Patrick changed teams last year and played much better. I totally believe Morgan should take most of the blame. There may be some answers to our OL problems still on the team. Braxton Jones actually taking a step forward. Kiran A looking like a NFL player.
-
They talked to Allen first and appears to be signing him. Anyone they added before Allen signed is probably already with his approval. They talked to all these HC candidates before and I think all both knew Johnson was the guy. I think all decisions were already discussed before these assistants were hired. I think they are in lockstep.
-
I think they get one bonafide starter, Trey Smith or Kevin Zeilter then resign Shelton and Pryor, and Bill Murray Jones - Kiran or Murray - Shelton - Pryor - Wright They add 3 draft picks and let the best five start.
-
Both play RG but I'm sure pros can change without a lot of trouble. FAgency will be first so what we aquire will determine our draft. Lots more depth on DL in the draft, so that makes sense.adding 3 rookie starters on the OL could be problematic. I am torn between what step we make first. If Banks is available, that could be the pick and move either Kiran or Braxton to left guard depending on their choice. So getting a RG in FA leavs is with drafting a center with 72 if it falls that way. Resign Shelton to start until the rookie is ready. My other choice would be to draft Will Campbell and make him the center and a high pick guard to play LG. That's Jones/Kiran at LT, rookie at LG, Campbell at C, Smith/Zietier at RG, Wright.
-
Another big guy is Alfred Collins, huge man. If we get one of those big body choices our interior will tighten up quickly in the run game. Kenneth Grant weights 339 also.
-
Other news: Ian Cunningham moving on to 2nd round with Titans

It may be the second most important hire. -
That seems to happen a lot, which you think would be the GMs choice but something's it's the new guy being okay with their choice. I wouldn't take a job where I didn't like the choice.

I'm not sure OC and DC get the same creed Head coaches get with hiring assistants. If you had to wait for a DC or OC to go thru hiring assistants, the process would take to long to get who you wanted. Also, I think they know who will be DC and OC are to get okays to hire someone they would be able to work with. It just may be finalizing money to make the announcement. He came here with a plan and backup plan for assembling a team
-
As much as Wright looked bad at times he was still rated high as a RT. With a regular starter at RG,I think he takes a giant step forward. A good OL coach is high priority for me. And All pro type center would make the whole OL better by making the right line calls better communication. I would love if we got Will Campbell even at 10. I have been pushing for Trey Smith but another intriguing choice is Kevin Zeilter. He was the second ranked guard this year, Trey Smith was 6 th ranked. At 35 he is playing at a high level and rarely is injured plus played with Ben Johnson this year. He will get a 2-15 mil type contract where Smith is going to get 20+ mil a year. Draft a rookie to take his place and roll with it.

I heard Dennis Allen had ties to Campbell in Detroit and will interview for that job. I'm not sure who he will hire but rumors aren't the best place to get information from. Being early in the hiring cycle, I'm confident he will get good coaches here. I will say I want aggressive defensive coaches, I would prefer a few big plays given up but more sacks would create more TOs. We have a good back 7 and with Gordon and Brisker healthy that will happen.
-
It's just for looks but I think you're right,it gets names out there for hire, if not now later. If a black coach had the creed that Johnson has, he would be the hire. I get it is imbalanced but if you look at rosters in the league, there is an unbalance for white players. Players are based on merit not color, coaches should be also. The bears have a Black president, Black GM and black assistant GM, the inequality narrative no longer applies in the NFL anymore.
-
You mentioned everyone's name I like bar Abdul Carter. I have read where Campbell would be a day one potential all pro center because of his football IQ. 10 is to early to get a center but that is very intriguing.
-
Good point, he has endured to much winning and now has come here to balance with losses.
-
The problem with people saying Farley isn't coming here is the same people that said Johnson was going to the Raiders. Rumors are just rumors, it has to play out. The only reason he may not come here is if he wants to call plays.
-
Totally agree, I have listened to a lot of people talk that has been around him and he has some meatball in him. He yells and cusses people that don't listen. It just shows us perception is only a lack of not knowing. Totally impressed, he does carry himself like Mcvay. Ultimately he will judged by wins and losses, and the very reason he came here is because Poles had given him a good roster of talent and Caleb.
