  1. I agree in that order which will probably be in the third round. Sam Ehlinger is an interesting take since we have his college QB on our staff. Using the 5th round for a QB prospect would be more idea than a third as to filling needed positions.
  2. I am a bears geek at this time of year, I listen to podcasts and read every article I can. All my opinions are what I think is best, but one podcast I listened to this morning made some sense. Pace and Nagy are in win now mode, so what choices makes them the best team RIGHT NOW? What they are thinking? I think. What players in the first 3 rounds contributes this year to help then win? 1) A future franchise QB--- none of top 5 will fall so give away a first and third this year and one next year? Will not make this team better now but might save their jobs. Whoever they draft will not start this year and will subtract capital in this years draft. 1st and third would be gone. (probably not happening with Dalton having average play) 2) OT starter at RT then left next year- they have Leno and Ifedi back to start, if the first 3 OTs are gone will that pick upgrade enough to help win? I think yes, but they think a draft can get them a prospect that could start next year. SO I think they may wait until 2 or 3 to grab a OT of future. 3) CB There will be one available that could start and give you a needed boost on a defense that is still good. This is a way possible choice at 20. 4) WR There will be many good choices at this spot that could contribute now and be a future star in a deep class. This is probably the 20th pick but also find that guy in second. 5) S As of right now, no SS at the starter position but with many Ss still in FAgency, I think they will grab a starter before the draft. I suspect Gibson comes back. Will not be addressed until later rounds. 6) Edge- you always need more pass rushers and do not be surprised if one of the top 3 drop and they grab one. Summary) If a QB prospect does not drop-if one of the top 3 OTs is not there at 20- then I think they take a CB with the first round and WR in the second. I think they will try to move back and grab an extra 3rd or 4th round and get a QB prospect and OT prospect before the 5th round. If they get a starting CB, WR that plays a lot, and a OT and QB prospect of the future then they will have gotten the most out of this draft they could. THIS IS WHAT I THINK THEY THINK IS BEST, not what I want.
  3. I agree it will always be the #1 need until we have one but to draft a 3rd round valued QB at 20 is a flaw of bad teams. Now if one of the 5 drops then so be it. The problem is moving up would cost so much as to be detrimental to the team. Houston having Watson did not make them a winner. You have to somewhat be lucky. 80% of the QBs taken in the first round of drafts have failed. The Bradys, Wilsons, and Brees were all out of the first round and their teams kind of lucked out. If Pace did what he said he would do from the beginning of drafting QB prospects every year, we may have already lucked out.
  4. You are correct, he is a RT, would have no problem if he is on our team in May.
  5. I would prefer this draft to try to mirror the players you picked with no trades----- not sure of the draft simulator you used but I used the PFN 20. Teven Jenkins OT Oklahoma State Nasty attitude and gamer 52 .Asante Samuel Jr. CB Florida State He is a little taller and has more speed than Molden 83. Amari Rodgers WR Clemson Looked like the best WR at the senior bowl 164. Jamie Newman QB Georgia Has all the traits of a NFL QB 204 Alaric Jackson OT Iowa Iowa has more OL in the NFL than any other school 208. Tamorrion Terry WR Florida State Underrated big WR 221. Israel Mukuamu S South Carolina 6-4 was overshadowed by Horn but looked good on film 228. Malcolm Koonce Edge Buffalo Was Defensive player of the year in 2019 in his league
  6. If he is available, I would prefer Teven Jenkins/OT at 20. He has a nasty attitude and more physical than Mayfield. Molden is 5'10", would prefer a taller CB as that high a pick Atwell / Dane Buglers write up on Atwell STRENGTHS: Runs like the wind with top-end speed that looks different than everyone else on the field…dangerous vertical threat with his ability to consistently win over the top…shows one-step burst to quickly release or separate in his route breaks…effective with his double-moves…tracks the ball well over his shoulder, slowing or accelerating as needed…big-play threat with the ball in his hands (only Alabama’s DeVonta Smith had more yards after catch in 2019)…destroys pursuit angles as a ball carrier, shifting gears and running circles around defenders…accounted for nine receptions of 50-plus yards in his career…scored a touchdown every 6.6 times he touched the football in college…led team in receptions the last two seasons. WEAKNESSES: Vastly undersized…minimal body power and doesn’t have tackle-breaking bulk/strength…allows defenders to alter his route path by their presence or minimal contact…too many traps and body catches and too many of his targets hit the ground (15 drops over the last three seasons)…still a novice route runner…needs to flatten his routes and play with better discipline out of his breaks…hears footsteps when working the middle of the field…his desire to avoid contact as a ball carrier leads to too much east-west runs…responsible for five fumbles in college…half-hearted blocker with below average functional strength in this area…limited experience as a return man (only four punt returns in college)…lack of size leads to durability concerns — missed two games and parts of others due to a L5 S1 stress reaction fracture in his back (October 2020). I think there would be some better choices at that spot of the draft. Nico Collins-Tamorrian Terry-D'Wayne Eskridge. 7. That would be a perfect value trade.
  8. If they cant get one of the five to drop to 20, the only way they can save their jobs is to improve the team (OT-WR-CB) and draft a prospect and have a winning record. Giving away players and draft picks to jump up to draft a QB is suicide . There only plan is (to be lucky) when it comes to a QB.
  9. Giving away draft capital to move up to take a 2nd tier QB prospect is a bad idea. Other than Lawence, Wilson, Fields and Lance, taking another QB high is not a good value. If Mac Jones falls to 20 that is a different conversation because of the need at QB in the league. I would take him at 20 but not trade picks to move up.
  10. Getting a QB is definitely a priority but taking a 2nd tier QB with the first pick is a bad idea. I do not think we will move up to get a top 5 (wasted draft capital) SO: 1---OT 2-WR 3-QB 4-CB 5-SS The first 2 picks need to become starters right away so taking a top 5 OT that will start at RT this year(go to LT next year) after NYs favorite player is cut. To make Dalton play better we need another WR to add to his toys. Ideally the third round is where value wise we add a Kellen Mond or Davis Mills/ if already gone then go CB or SS here. A long shot: what if our addition to the coaching staff Tom Herman(former Texas coach ) gives us some insight into the value of Sam Elhinger (as a project) and we draft him in the 6th round. Then use our top 3 to add 3 starters at needed positions. He finished his career completing 62.5% of his attempts for 11,436 yards, 94 passing touchdowns and 27 interceptions while posting a rating of 145.0. Ideal scenario for me 1- Teven Jenkins/ OT He is physical and a Kyle Long mean streak that this OL needs 2-Terrance Marshall/WR he has size and speed to put on the outside with AROB and would put Mooney in the slot where I think he would florish 3- Kellen Mond/QB He has 4 years as a starter as a strong enough arm , got better every year and is a good runner. 5-Rachad Wildgoose/CB He has 4.47 speed at 5-11 197. Is physical with good football IQ (used GBNFR rankings to place value) 6/1- Damar Hamlin/SS Lead Pitt in tackles-67-7 PBs-2-interceptions. Physical safety with 4.52 speed. Remains me of Amos 6/2 -Alaric Jackson/OT A Iowa OT that has a lowered value because not very athletic but is a baller. 6/3-Josh Imatorbhebhe/WR Wasnt productive at Illinois because of Lovies offense but has good traits for a good prospect. 6/4-Lorenzo Neal/DE Showed some talent but overall was disappointing. At 6-3 311 has the size to compete. I think they address the offense first and often. We have Trufant and Burns to take over for CB and as long as healthy can be competitive. I think with the strength of the rest of the defense it will not make this a necessary high pick.
  11. We just need to make the team better, and draft a QB prospect later in the draft.
  12. I get your model on value but I think this year Vildor and Gibson get more playing time and become a + . I think from the 5th round and down if you get a player that makes the team and becomes a backup with some playing time, that would be a + for me. From 2019 I think Shelley ends up taking over for Skrine and Ridley still could become a contributing player. Anthony Miller has talent but his issues need to go away to become who we thought he was. He has show flashes. Joel Iggy sucks he never stepped forward. As a drafter he probably falls in the middle of the pack but because so many first round players busted it pulls everything down.
  13. Im on your side , I think Pace should have been gone this year, the problem is the only persons that opinions count is the McCaskey's' When the final verdict came down on the MT pick, that minute Pace should have been fired. Nagy probably deserves to get this year because of him not having who he wants but he is not headed in the right direction.
  14. I dont think anyone thinks this team is a SB contender and that they have to be for N and P to keep their jobs. The reality is if they show progress, not my opinion, George McCaskeys. If Pace gets 3 or 4 players that make a contribution this year from the draft and a QB prospect, he probably will keep his job.(if they have a winning record)
  15. So if they make the playoffs and lose, isnt that 11-7 or is my math bad? If all of those happened they would have a better record than 11-7. It seems like everyone is writing off the D with the only change so far being Fuller gone. I didnt think Skrines play was so good he cant be replaced by someone that could do as good. They still have some signings to do and a draft., After that we can make a true determination of a potential record. Right now they only need to sign Gibson back to be pretty close to the same D we had., AROB is coming back, we have a better projected OL than the start of last year, and Dalton should be better than a Foles led O. Kmet should take a step forward and Mooney should surely be better. Cohen is back and Williams should add to the room. I think I can say this is a better team already than last year with some adds to go.
  16. I suspect if Nagy's job is on the line this year, why wouldnt you want to run the show? That's' what I would do. IT fails or succeeds and that will determine the results. We all see a team that blows up with Pace and Nagy, but something will happen and they will go 11-7 and make the playoffs and fall back in the average team again. For example what if: Trufant doesnt get injured and plays well . Quinn plays up to his contract and has 9 sacks this year. Mack has a great year and gets 12 sacksl Kmet breaks out and goes 57- 677 with 6 TDs Montgomery goes for 1412 rushing yards with 245 receiving yards with 10 TDs Dalton has a 3900 yards- 67% with 27 TDs and 11 picks. This team is average in my opinion but if a few things go right, they could have a winning season.
  17. for that reason, I wouldnt mind if we trade out of round 1 and get some extra picks, better lane for Pace to pick in without his reputation of screwing up first round picks.

    Mock Drafts

Williams has a lot of speed but at that spot in the draft, i think there are some better choices of WRs still available. The rest are a lot of good names. What was your point total?
  19. Would be an awesome time to be in Vegas when date is announced. There is one bar there that is Bears friendly with many patrons bears fans, I will try to get that information and list.
  20. Its hard to say the exact value of any player but many mock drafts list, Darrisaw--Jenkins--Cosmi--Vera Tucker as back of the end first round picks. At 20 all of them could be there. WR-OT-CB are the three most talked about as fitting as a first round pick. QB is a high need but taking a 2nd day QB prospect in the first round would be a bad choice. At that spot in the draft: CB- Horn__Stokes__Newsome all or one will be there at 20 WR-Toney__Marshall__Bateman all of them should be there at 20 OT-Darrisaw__Jenkins__Cosmi all should be there at 20 So how does the Bears rate them in order of value. All are at positions of need. I think they will prioritize O in the draft so WR or OT will be the pick. The WR position is real deep and you could get a starter in the 3rd round so would they jump on that? OTs value starts to go down quickly after the first 5 with Mayfield and Radunz being next in line. I think OT should be the pick. I like Teven Jenkins that some have rated the 2nd best T in the draft. He has everything plus a mean streak which would give this OLine some grit. So for me its, 1) OT 2) WR and 3) CB in that order. What if someone like a Devonte Smith/WR drops? I have heard because of his lack of high end speed and slim body, he may be the surprise by dropping.
  21. The trade was on March 18th the first day of the new year which is the legal date for the start of FA, they allow negotiations the week before. Bridgwater, Mariota, Brady and Rivers were already gone before we activated the trade. Dalton was still with the Bengals, so if we would have waited until he was released, we could have have been shut out on adding a QB because we did not know if he would be released.
  22. Pace always goes into FAgency with a plan, I think they may have tried to trade for Dalton, but at the beginning of FA, the cost was to high. If he would have waited to address the QB until May, he would have been killed by the media so he just went with plan A, or plan B .

    Mock Drafts

This one is straight up, try one with one trade and so on. Unrealistic to have many trades but one seems possible.
  25. By Paces signings in FAgency, he is trying to fill needs with stop gap players so he can freely take the best players in each rounds. QB Dalton - I think he will be an upgrade over Foles and if the support group is upgraded, we can make the playoffs with him. RB Williams upgrades the RB room. With Cohen coming back this should be a strength. The biggest upgrade will not be trying to fit Patterson in the running game. WR Pace has yet to upgrade hear. Miller could be gone so I see this as a potential first round pick. TE Keeping Graham helps although I think they should ask him to take a pay cut. I think Komet has a breakout year, so we should be Okay at TE OL Bringing in Wilkenson and reupping Ifedi suggests they may not upgrade the OT position in the first couple of rounds. (mistake) I would love them to take Teven Jenkins at 1. CB Fuller is gone but with Burns being resigned and Trufant coming in, it will be in better shape than it looks. Also this could be a high round pick if the value is there. S DHC and Bush coming back gives us the depth, also dont forget we sighed Jordan Lucas last year and he opted out. IF we can upgrade Gibson or bring Gibson back we will be ok. OLB Jeremiah Attaochu is an upgrade over Mingo in the pass rush part of the game. Quinn can not play as bad as he did last year so we should get an upgrade here. Also T. Gibson should make a contribtion after his rooke year should very little. LB Jones is an upgrade over Iggy and Woods for sure. DL With them keeping Hicks (so far) and Goldman coming back this should be a strength again. Also Nichols should take a step forward and Blackson was a good addition. So the draft first 3 rounds could be any one of our needs. CB-QB-WR-OL. With three picks , I can see Pace moving back to get an extra 3rd or add a 4th and address all of those positions taking the BPA at our spot.
