Last year Jamis Winston played for 1.1 mil . This year he is getting 5.5 plus incentives.

PFF has some value be no way its the bible on football knowledge. People sight them when they rate someone they like but they are not always right .
-
Actually this year is probably an anomaly because of the drop in cap space. The best anyone should do is a one year contract to go back next year with more money available.
-
7 of 10 back and possible Gibson and Mingo comes back. The low end players dont have many options because of all the good players out there.
-
IF Trufant stays healthy he can be a good replacement for Fuller. Other than one year, 2018, he is not a big TO machine. If we can add another decent CB and draft one, we will barely notice Fuller being gone. I think the NB spot will be replaced by Shelly or Vidor. If Hicks does stay, we have Goldman back so the defense will roll. I think the covid crap last year changed everything for the new players coming in. I think Quinn actually contributes this year and lives up to his contract. If Smith, Nichols, Johnson takes another step forward, we will have a top 5 defense again. Were panicking because of Fuller but everything will turn out ok on D. Its the offense we still have to worry about.

The only thing happening now are going to be cheap one or two year deals. They can still build a decent team if they can get some good players on the cheap. Dalton is just a guy but if you can build a better offense around him, he could be doable. There trying to add an upgrade WR and still have some decent WRs out there. The key for me is to get a couple more OTs to address the OL. I think in the first few rounds they draft one, with Ifedi and Bars as backups, they have some depth now. I would like 2 high draft picks at OT but because of Fuller gone, I suspect that could be with a high pick. I think they have 4 picks at adding players to help in the draft. 1-3 and they use the 5th and 4= 6s to move up and grab a 4th. So with those 4 picks they will draft a OT-QB-CB and WR. If they hit on them, we can still have a good season.

Wish it was April Fools but looks like Fuller cut

Its human nature to not want to be disrespected by a team wanting you to take a pay cut. Then they end getting less somewhere else. I heard they wanted him to take a 5 mil pay cut, that would piss me off to. He is a good player but lets not forget he's 29 and has been losing some of his effectiveness since 2018. Players get paid for their best year and cant ever get back to that level again. EJAC is the example. If Pace was better at drafting, teams like NE do it the right way, when they are due the big contract, he trades them at their highest value. We cant do that because of the mistakes Pace has made. -

He didnt know what a new team would offer him before he left. Players always think they will get more but usually settle for less. In one sense, the Bears paid their players when they were due a new contract. Fuller, Mack., Goldman, Hicks, EJAC but the problem is, there is to many high paid players on defense. Our money problems are because of the bad contracts for players like Quinn and Foles. It robs money when you have to sign players to replace those mistakes. It is a domino effect, MT didnt work out, so they spend money for Foles then Dalton. Floyd didnt become the pass rusher so they paid Quinn. Shaheen didnt work out so they gave Graham 10 to replace him. Its a cycle. Another problem with Pace is he would use draft capital to trade up and get the players he wanted. MT, Miller, ect. Pace should have been fired as soon as the MT thing didnt work out, so here we are, he's trying to over come his own mistakes over and over again. -
There is some decent talent out there. Snead, Conley,. Westbrook, Josh Reynolds, Demarcus Robinson.. Anybody want Antonio Brown? Or T T Hilton.
-
I hope he continues the develop and do well, probably be a long time backup, which is worth 10 mil in these days. Not a bad job
-
I have been watching the Bears since the late 60s when Butkus and Sayers were there. Lots of bad years along the way. I cant change teams no matter what but it sure is nice when they are winning. I always like the Broncos as a AFC team, but its always a Bear fan.
-
I hope they like a Trask-Mond or Mills as a QB prospect that could be got in the second or third round. Ist round-OT
-
IF we target a player and move from 20 to lower first round, like a Teven Jenkins, I would be up with that. It has to be a OT, time to improve to protect average QBs we have. Jenkins is listed as a late first or early 2nd round range.

For sure unless they are still in play for Wilson, they will keep Graham.
-
As much as the Bears have always been known as a great defensive team, the last few years they have not lived up to par, so they are investing in offense and taking assets from the offense. I have seen where the GM for Seattle was ready to do the deal with us for Wilson but Carroll objected. So that could still be into play closer to the draft. I personally wouldnt see the future for Wilson and grab a QB in the draft and hope we get lucky. I think this is why Graham is still here. Friends with Wilson.

A few FA notes: Daltons cap hit this year is 5.5 mil Edwards III cap hit this year is 1.7 mil Santos cap hit is 1.5 mil Blackson cap hit is 2.25 mil He is a vet that has been getting better every year. He wont be a Hicks type of signing but may be coming into his own IFedi cap hit is 4.25 I think he will start at RT until the high draft pick is ready to take over. the signing they have made is low cap hits so we may still be in play for Golloday.
-
If we end up with the trade with Seattle, maybe the signing Dalton will be acceptable for Seattle going back. That could still be in play. This years first and third were offered. That limits the draft to a second to get a OT which is possible . K L Wright is gone , I hope Ro Smith is not in the picture.
-
With all the good Ss available , Gibson could still be coming back with a cheap contract. There are players out there and after the first sweep of contracts we are now in play for some cheap acquisitions.
-
Actually Fuller had his contract restructured last year to get Quinn, he has a 20 mil cap hit. We save 11 mil if we cut him. They offered Golloday a one year 12 mil contract. He went to the Giants but came home w/o a contract. What they are doing is investing in the offense and cutting expenses in the defense. If we have Golloday, AROB and Mooney, that helps Dalton a lot. The big thing they need to do is getting OTs to help improve the line.
-
They went to Fuller with trying to take a pay cut or extent his contract. When he said no, they had to be ready to cut him. Fuller is a good player but if you look at his history , he only had one year with over 3 interceptions.(7-2018). They got Trufant, and if he stays healthy is not much below Fullers level. They will bring in another CB and draft one. As far as Hicks goes, a big leader and cheerleader but did not have a sack after the 3rd game of the year. Has had injuries the last two years at 32. With Fuller they have been playing soft cover, Trufant and I suspect Johnson would be better in press coverage. Maybe Desai changes that which I would be all in on. Nichols will play Hicks spot as Goldman comes back. I think he takes another step forward.

Bears sign Andy Dalton per the score. Foles 2.0
Stinger226 replied to BearFan2000's topic in Bearstalk
With all these trash moves to make up for Paces mistakes, wait and see , they will go 11-6 and win a playoff spot to keep there jobs and piss us all off. -
Pace has made to many mistakes to not have this be the reality of what has to happen, keeping AROB means someone with a big contract needs to go. With Fuller and Hicks going 21.5 clearance in salary cap. AROB franchise cost 18 mil.
-
The salary cap is real, in order to add someone , we have to lose players. The problem is in the last few years the team has been paying its good players. After all the mistakes Pace has made , good players are the ones with the best cap space availability. None of this is good, but anyone living in reality knew this was going to happen. Everyone wants AROB to hang around and getting rid of Fuller and next Hicks pays for his salary.
-
AROB just signed the franchise tag. He seen good WRs getting paid modest money and took the 18 mil. Also we met with Golloday. IF we grabbed him and AROB with Mooney. That would be a formidable WR room.

They gave Seattle a list of players to choose from, and their names were on it. To be honest, I dont see Seattle even considering taking on 36 million in salary and pay 39 mil in dead cap space for a trade. I suspect Foles might have been involved and Johnson or Smith.
