IF he signs the tag now, then if he misses any practices, he can be fined. He doesnt have to sign it until summer, so their no rush on his part. He can not like it, but this happens all the time. They say he wants 20-22 mil a year. Only a handful of teams have the money to do that. As other WRs get signed and his options disappear he will sign it.
-
I think this signing suggests they may be letting Hicks walk. You figure Urban will be back on a low deal and possibly RRH may not find a home that could be back on a 1 yr cheap deal. With all the good players being released, a lot of the lower players with upside wont be finding a good paycheck.
-
I think they end up letting Hicks go. They save 10.5 in cap space and he has been hurt the last 2 yrs at 32 years old. I think they extend Fuller, he's younger and still playing at a high level.
-
I seen a couple trade scenarios that make sense. We get Wilson- seattle gets Johnson, 1+3 this year plus 2 firsts going forward and Sam Darold. Jets get a 3rd ( this year) and nick Foles. Seattle makes the trade because they have a QB prospect coming back and Carroll want to run and play defense anyways . So would you guys be up for that? I think if we trade for Darold for a 3rd and Foles, just go with him and draft a OT and WR.

IF Seattle is dumb enough to trade Wilson, why would they take big money vets to come back to them? They would clearly be rebuilding so it would only be the Smiths, or Johnsons going back. I think they extend Hicks and Fuller. That pushes the money down the road and both are still playing at a high level. They will do what they need to get the money they need but for what? They could back load a new contract for AROB, makes sense and not take all of it. For QB I think the Wilson and Watson trades are playing Fantasy football. Realistically they have to have a plan. Winston or Minchew? They need to get lucky and hit on a Tannerhill type of signing or hit on a Trask or Jones draft pick.
-
It would be nice to have him but with a terrible cap situation, he would be a luxury. They tried to fit him into the offense, but he was just best as a special teams guy. That 5 mil we might have to pay him can be used for a WR, TE or another RB. We cant keep everyone.
-
All this does is cover the couple of transactions they have did so far. Next will be a few cuts. I suspect the bargain players wont be coming until after the draft and people figure out where they are at.
-
Does somebody know the rules for actions done now and how can you wait until after June 1 to designate it. I think if the Wilson traded happen in the next few weeks, you cant designate it to a post June 1 trade. I always see cuts being post but you can do that with trades?
-
Somebody paid him 16 mil for two years at his age, damn straight he wants to stay here. I would not mind having him back but not at his 10 mil for this year. 5 mil a year would be okay. Maybe they cut him and then give him a two year 5 mil a year contract.
-
One deal done. Who is the next to get cut? Skine and Massie already gone. Graham is next but if we really have a shot at Wilson, they are friends.
-
Duke Shelly was a 6th round pick and I think he ends up starting at the NB spot. So there is value in that round and Pace has history of finding players there. The more darts you have to throw, the better to find players.

I was top of the list on complaining about giving Graham a money contract but he was worth it. The problem with Graham is we need the cap space and he is a 7 mil cut. Maybe he takes adding on a year and cutting he cost but how many vets do that? We have to get cap space to even be able to draft anybody(rookie salaries) and pay for Robinson. Someone has to go. Who. Easy to say Leno(Massie is gone) but you have to replace those players that will cost something. As much as Leno has to be upgraded, I think they keep him one more year and just grab a rookie that plays RT for at least this year. Bars is still around and has the body of a LT. I would like to see him takes Lenos job but not sure if that is a upgrade. Defensively( if we dont cut anybody) will be better just with adding Goldman back and then sign a cheap safety. Also remember Jordon Lucas (S) opted out last year and he was going to compete for a starter job. Maybe he can do that.
-
With so many teams in cap hell and really good players being released , we could probably grab a few of those players on cheap contracts and upgrade the overall talent of this team. If we only had to give up 3 first round players, it would be stupid not to grab Wilson(wont happen). You figure one of those picks would be a QB,(just traded for one) so you are basically giving up 2 first round picks. We absolutely would be playoff bound. This roster has a lot of good talent. We need to upgrade OT (draft)2nd and 3rd. We can get some help in FA at WR and TE. The trade scenario would be a problem if we had to give up young good players. Johnson,. Smith, Nichols? We have to add not tear down.

Likely playing under the tag but depends on what they do at QB. If they can get a Winston 7-9 mil, then they may find the money to pay him. If they luck out and get a crazy trade, the money will be gone. (paying the tag or 20-22 mil on a new contract) It will have a domino affect.
-
IF the Bears dont have a winning record this year, Pace and Nagy are probably both gone. They are trying to obtain a different QB room, whether that succeeds or not, getting a 3rd round pick for AROB doesnt really say(going for it). I would take AROB over all but maybe Godwin being he is younger and will be around a 16-18 mil a year guy. Where as AROB will be 20-22 mil a year guy. If I was a GM, I would not have to think about that very long. (not giving up draft capital, paying less to a younger guy)
-
No way anyone's offering a first for him. If they have the cap money to sign him, there are several choices that wouldnt cost anything in free agency. I read where maybe a 2nd and probably a 3rd because they would then have to pay him 20 mil for the next 3 or 4 years.
-
Since Wilson or Watson wont happen, taking a chance on Winston if our best option. NO is in worst shape than we are with the cap, so if we had to bid on him, we should be able to pay more. Otherwise, Trading for a Minshew would be my next choice. Will come cheap and has had some moments in his tenure so far. Will not cost much on the cap. Foles is here and drafting a prospect would have at least create a little excitement if our options fall on their face.
-
When they got rid of Kyle , he couldnt stay on the field and wasnt playing well. He will be 33 in December. We are set in the middle and he will not sign somewhere to be a backup. I would say a big fat NO. I hope he does well, but will not be dominating anyone at a high level.
-
IF they are going for it to save their jobs, why would they tag him and trade him? There are a few good WRs out there in FA but they will cost almost as much as the tag. I was reading where they might be able to get a 2nd for him but more likely a 3rd because of the money he will cost. There is only a handful of teams with the ability to sign expensive players. Most teams have cap issues. So why wouldnt they just sign Golliday-Godwin-JuJu instead of giving up draft capital for an expensive player.
-
That will be our savior for the year, getting good players on short cheap deals.
-
I dont think he has inside info, just speculating. He does like trading for Sam Darnold as a good idea.
-
I heard today that because they have not established the cap for next year yet, they move tag deadline one week.
-
Which one is the surprise move? I think they might just redo Hicks contract to save some money and not release him. I think the Wilson dream is dead and they cut Graham.
-
Ya I just seen that he is planning on retiring, maybe its a money ploy?
-
I hope you're right. Watch them pull a 10-6 record and make the playoffs , just enough to piss us off and then they give them extensions.
