  1. This post started out as Denmark maybe playing S ( at that time we hadn't signed Gibson). You suggested Vidor, me and AZ were both concerned about his small statue. You give examples of shorter safeties that played well. I'm not sure where this became a, either or with Denmark and Vidor. I never really changed my position, I think he is small in statute but as I read more about him , I found out he is a poor tackler. So my opinion is he will not be moved to S and probably Denmark will not because of the Gibson signing.
  2. I agree, he's to short to play in the box. Kidding. More of a FS. I like this better than adding no one at all. It will be interesting to see how much he gets paid. I suspect the bears tried to sign a different S but they wouldn't play for a cheap contract. Called him after he got cut and he took out contract.
  3. If they were going to cut Patterson they would have did it before now. I think Patterson is going to get more reps at RB and maybe that is why we haven't signed a free agent RB yet. The last time Ginn returned kicks was 3 yrs ago where he had 19 punt returns for a 5.4 av. Doubt if they use him there. I didn't realize Peters had such a low salary, he might still be an option. 1 yr 4 mil?
  4. When you suggested Vidor maybe playing SS, I was objecting to the idea because of his smaller frame that I thought would cause durability issues so I read all of his draft profiles giving his strengths and weaknesses. His biggest weakness is tackling and every draft profile mentioned it ( Not strong at the point of attack) ( whiffs on a lot of tackles) ( poor tackling technic).( led his team in mistackles)They say he's very good on pass defense though so I think I would leave him at CB.
  5. I would think he would get more than the cet minimum even at 35.
  6. I should have explained myself better. When I referred to small, not short, I meant in stature. Thanks for looking up the players so I didn't have to. The examples you gave prove my concern. Ed Reed is 16lbs more than Vidor , the rest weight more. These guys are in tip top shape, so 16lbs more is quite a bit of difference. I am not saying they couldn't play well , I was talking about durability. Bob Sanders was 5'8" 205 , he was good but had to deal with injuries that shortened his career. You have a choice of Denmark, 220 lbs who has 1 year of adapting to the NFL and knows the system has more of a chance to succeed than choosing a rookie 189lb guy. They're always examples for anybody you wish to compare that does fit what's normal but the majority are bigger at that position.
  7. Don't forget they talked about using Patterson more as a RB. Something he was successful at in NE. Woods and Iggy didn't play much because of Kwit and JPL. It's there time to show they belong or be cut. The 2 ILBs we got as UDFAs were very productive in college. Maybe they get a shot.
  8. I suspect Patterson is going to get more reps at RB and maybe they want a replacement for him if he gets them. I expect his role to be greater at WR besides RB.
  9. Calls for Vidor to play S doesn't make a lot of sense to me. He would be small for a box safety. The few small Ss in the past that were successful were FSs. In the box your body gets beat up a great deal more. Also a rookie coming in, in what will likely be a shortened preseason, changing positions is unlikely to get very many reps. At least at CB he has a shot to play some. Callahan was on the small side and playing in at NCB , he was always getting injured.
  10. It would be nice if all made it as a break out season but history suggests maybe 1 or 2 hit. That would be nice.
  11. Just noticed we sighed DL John Jerkins. I think we had him around before. Probably better than A. Anderson. Or at least more competition.

    UDFA Tracker

I read a story about him and I think he was an Olympic weight lifter and played Rugby. Strong and smart. He got into football in 2016 and all he did in South Africa was watch games and video tape about football. If any UDFAs make it he's the one. Yale isn't bigtime football but he dominated at that level. He is ahead of the curb because of his strength. Most rookies have to get stronger, he is already there. He says the most important thing about football is to study tape. I wouldn't doubt he makes the PS this yr and he's on a fast track.
  13. Right now they have around 12 mil in cap space and half of that going to the draft. So we have enough to sign 2 more 2nd tier players. I say a S and RB.

    Cole Kmet

I have seen a couple draft sites compare Kmet to Jason Witten. I think he ends up being a force in the red zone . He may produce more than most rookie TEs just because he is important in Nagys offense. Philly run the double TE scheme more than any other team in the league. I see it helping our running game more not because of Graham and Kmets blocking but how it forces the defense to adjust our of their 8 in the box scheme.
  15. So do they think Bush can get the job done. We will find out by whether they sign another S. There has to be a HaHa deal out there, to many Ss still left in FA. I say bring in another one and let them compete. Has to be a 1 year 3 mil deal out there. I suggested Eric Reid before of which I think is the best one left, but as someone mentioned , could bring a distraction that bears wouldn't be comfortable with . I think Geathers is the guy just because of ties to Pagano.
  16. I just think they play ther board and had other players higher at the different levels we drafted. At 43 they found more value in the TE as to the Ss available there3. Both were needs.
  17. If we can get 80 recs and 900 yds, 10 TDs out of the position. I don't care if one guy doesn't dominate.
  18. Actually anyone cut from a team doesn't count either just UFAs. If I was in the NFL right now having a job would be better than just holding out for money. lots of players take cheap one year deals just to make sure they have a job.3 to 4 mil sounds good to me.
  19. Don't really like Gabriel but he's not dumb when it comes to football.
  20. Had Nagy not went brain dead on play calling 10-6 last year.
  21. Seriously, we had such a good buzz going after 2018. Last year got us back in the same old shit mode but really it's not. Smarter coaches and over all better roster. Look how many backups got good contracts other places. We have stars on this team. Robinson, EJac, Mack, Hicks, Quinn , Fuller. Almost stars, Goldman, whitehair, Trevathan, Smith. Soon to be : Montgomery, Daniels, Miller, Kmet, Johnson, . I think the arrow is pointing up.
  22. I hope this year is an anomaly, I love to travel been to 23 countries so far . Want to add a few more.
  23. AZ is not full of himself and rarely says dumb stuff. A.E. Greg Gabriel.
  24. DJ Fluker just got released. Another Seattle guy. I would still like to sign Person. After Monday 4 PM. All signings dont count against compensation picks.
  25. Later picks usually dont make a difference. As much as I hate to use as an example, leno was a 7th round pick. We got plenty of value out of this draft, all as you stated. I have read everything i could about the 2 OLs , and one of them may be a rostered player one day. Simmons has attitude and is athletic. I like.
