Actually I'm not sure who you want now. We both wanted Vrabel, gone. I'm okay with Johnson as next in line, was thinking you had to many questions about him? Otherwise I would be happy with Brady or Monken. Semi okay with McCarthy.

Is Kingsbury now a better option than Johnson?

The TOs cost them points. -
That's why I think with the right coaching hire, we can contend for the playoffs. Look at how many playoff teams we had close losses to. Washington, Texans, Minnesota, GB, Detroit. We beat the Rams. We are close, with an ascending QB, weapons, cap space and draft picks.

Interesting Article and Stats DT Carter vs Dexter
Stinger226 replied to BearFan PHX's topic in Bearstalk
Carter is a talent and would have been a nice addition that may or may not have played as well here.in Philly he had a great DL along side of him. With all the problems with our OL, what would people be saying if we didn't draft Wright? At some point we needed to take OL and this is where Poles decided to do it. He ended up the 5 th ranked RT in the league last year. He will be an All pro one day. -
Agreed, lots of good choices for coach. That will also make those available for OC and DC hires after they don't get jobs. In fandom eyes Johnson appears the prize. Along with some, he still has to prove his leadership ability but is worth that risk. McCarthy is more qualified than I want to admit, when people use stats to make cases for candidates, his are very good. Next to them, I like Monken and Brady.

What I like about Johnson is his reliance on the running game to set up the passing game. Balance is a good place to be in the NFL. -
They are probably several on the Bears list that would end up being great coaches but if the bears don't take the experience coaches or Ben Johnson they are going to get hammered in the media for taking chances on an unknown. Vrabel, Johnson, Carroll and even McCarthy carries at least logical choices for the job. A Eddie George or David Shaw hire would bring the bo birds out.

Like you said, lots of rumors and hard to sort out the truth but things seem to be aligning for the Bears and the Johnson rumor.

Other news: Ian Cunningham moving on to 2nd round with Titans

It seems logical that people want executives from winning organizations. Since he has been here, he's been a loser. -

Just read that the new GM will be Bogonzi, an assistant manager from KC. I have now seen several reports. -

Totally agree but more reason for a QB to throw it away or dumb the ball off quickly to the back. So many times he just took the sack which makes me question his blitz recognition. -

You are right, I only seen one report but he actually said he had a meeting set up to sign him as the next GM. That's why I worded it that he was the front runner for the job. -
I stand corrected, he just developed Rodgers.

Daniels keeps showing off his great traits. Clearly the top rookie this year. Just shows you what good coaching can do for you. It produces wins. I hope history shows there was several top 10 QBs in this draft because Nix and Daniels have a head start on stardom. I still think Caleb will be a star if he ever gets out of the habit of holding the ball to long and becomes more accurate. -
I get the impression they were spending time interviewing coaches for insight while they expected Johnson to not be available until after the SB. That has changed. They had George already scheduled, surprisingly, to speed up the Rooney rule. I heard reported they requested an interview with Tomlin and were denied. He would have cost a fortune, so it appears money will not get in the way. As dumb as I thought it was to interview so many coaches, it may have been a great idea. You just talked to 15? people about your team and got great insights into what some smart people think about your QB and overall perception of the team. Will the bears know how to use that to help them? It's the bears so that leaves doubt.

Some people think that Kingsbury has did a better job with a rookie QB than Johnson with Goff. Pluses: former HC Has developed QBs Has a relationship with Caleb Did have some success but failed after Murray got hurt. He may be looked at as a viable candidate for a HC job.

I seen another GM candidate has the edge at Titans, assistant at KC. No third round pick this year. -
That will speed the process. Does this game make Kingsbury a better option?
-
Lions are going to lose today and Johnson becomes immediately available. The drama will end this week. As good of an offensive that Detroit has, they need a defense to get to a championship. Injuries may have doomed them but every team has injuries like us. Does this game make Kingsbury value go up? I think so. Former HC, QB development, had some success but faultered once Murray was hurt. Some may say that with a rookie QB, he has did a better job than Johnson.
-
Didn't see that. Johnson will command the the biggest paycheck in this coach cycle I believe. They still could work out a deal but it does add to the negatives of them signing Johnson.
-
A lot of journalists have made connections to the Raiders because of Brady and he could bring a GM with him. They don't have a first round pick this year, no QB of promise and play in a division with Mahomes, Herbert and Bo Nix. As tough as our division is we have JJ McCarthy, Jordon Love and an old Goff as rivals. Which job sounds better?
-
Of course not with Wilson. I will say that Farve and Rodgers were talented but also were developed under McCarthy. It's not my first or second choice for HC but if (and this is the same Bears organization) they did hire him, it wouldn't be as bad as I would perceive it. It's not the worst choice we could make. I originally said if they hired McCarthy, I would take a recess on my bears fandom but I now have changed that attitude.

As much as we could use a 3T to help with the pass rush, I like Dione Walker and Alfred Collins as huge NT types to fill in with Billings.
-
I've seen Skattebo name brought up several times by draftniks. Adam Mason is doing a lot of draft work right now. I'm using other people's opinions since they're putting in the time to look at tape that I'm not going to. Since I don't think Swift and Johnson are going anywhere this year, do we want a short yardage power guy, or a speed scat type of back? Someone that could do return work.

Show me Belichek record without Brady. Look threw history and you find all kind of examples. Carroll got fired after Wilson left. He had 14 seasons with 10 or more wins. That's good no matter who it is. I'm not trying to make a case for him but when you examine his history he is not as bad as I originally thought. Since neither of us get to choose the HC , the possibility exists it won't be who we want. I'm okay if it's Johnson, McCarthy or Carroll. All of them could have success here.
