  1. Some people think that Kingsbury has did a better job with a rookie QB than Johnson with Goff. Pluses: former HC Has developed QBs Has a relationship with Caleb Did have some success but failed after Murray got hurt. He may be looked at as a viable candidate for a HC job.
  2. I seen another GM candidate has the edge at Titans, assistant at KC. No third round pick this year.
  3. That will speed the process. Does this game make Kingsbury a better option?
  4. Lions are going to lose today and Johnson becomes immediately available. The drama will end this week. As good of an offensive that Detroit has, they need a defense to get to a championship. Injuries may have doomed them but every team has injuries like us. Does this game make Kingsbury value go up? I think so. Former HC, QB development, had some success but faultered once Murray was hurt. Some may say that with a rookie QB, he has did a better job than Johnson.
  5. Didn't see that. Johnson will command the the biggest paycheck in this coach cycle I believe. They still could work out a deal but it does add to the negatives of them signing Johnson.
  6. A lot of journalists have made connections to the Raiders because of Brady and he could bring a GM with him. They don't have a first round pick this year, no QB of promise and play in a division with Mahomes, Herbert and Bo Nix. As tough as our division is we have JJ McCarthy, Jordon Love and an old Goff as rivals. Which job sounds better?
  7. Of course not with Wilson. I will say that Farve and Rodgers were talented but also were developed under McCarthy. It's not my first or second choice for HC but if (and this is the same Bears organization) they did hire him, it wouldn't be as bad as I would perceive it. It's not the worst choice we could make. I originally said if they hired McCarthy, I would take a recess on my bears fandom but I now have changed that attitude.
  8. As much as we could use a 3T to help with the pass rush, I like Dione Walker and Alfred Collins as huge NT types to fill in with Billings.
  9. I've seen Skattebo name brought up several times by draftniks. Adam Mason is doing a lot of draft work right now. I'm using other people's opinions since they're putting in the time to look at tape that I'm not going to. Since I don't think Swift and Johnson are going anywhere this year, do we want a short yardage power guy, or a speed scat type of back? Someone that could do return work.
  10. Show me Belichek record without Brady. Look threw history and you find all kind of examples. Carroll got fired after Wilson left. He had 14 seasons with 10 or more wins. That's good no matter who it is. I'm not trying to make a case for him but when you examine his history he is not as bad as I originally thought. Since neither of us get to choose the HC , the possibility exists it won't be who we want. I'm okay if it's Johnson, McCarthy or Carroll. All of them could have success here.
  11. I already thinks it's a f'd up franchise. Getting the right HC is probably the most important decision they have had in a long time. I thinks it's one of those but I'm sure they're a few that would be good I'm just not insightful enough to know who that is. Brady and Monken might be good. None of them come with a guarantee but experience former HC gives a little more crede that we get it right.
  12. You could find tape on any player and show where you question his dedication. He had a couple moments this year but you have to look at his overall play. Clearly the best offensive player on the team. Also if we're trying to get a great offense, getting rid of your best player is a bad idea. He had a talk every week on the SCORE this year. Clearly don't have a attitude problem.
  13. McCarthy carries a better record than Carroll yet he's a retread and Carroll isn't? They both got let go on their respective teams. I totally didn't want McCarthy but the more you read about him the more you realize he checks a lot of boxes. We just need the right guy for culture, development and leadership. We all have opinions on who that is, hopefully the brass get it right this time. There is the possibility that several available coaches could be successful. I'm not sure who that is, I originally wanted Gruden, he's not even in the picture right now. Johnson, Carroll, McCarthy, Monken and Brady are all upgrades. I would accept any of those choices. On a different subject, X has some talking about trading DJ Moore. That's a ridiculous thought, he's our best offensive player.
  14. A perfect example of a great defense was 2018. It carried us with Tribisky as the QB . We had a good running game that year also. The key to this year is to get the right person to help Caleb but you ask 10 different people and you may get 10 different opinions who that person is. Talent will rise to the top whether it's Carroll, Johnson or McCarthy. Now the right HC will accelerate that process. Obviously if we hire another Flus type that was be problematic. I think Caleb did decent with as bad as a situation as you can have in your rookie year. So I agree that Johnson is probably the best choice for HC but what if he decides to go to the raiders? Just trade him because we didn't get the best choice? Which still will need to be proven, it's only a projection right now. I'm saying several choices could still allow Caleb to grow it's not just Johnson or everything bad.
  15. I can't believe I'm starting to get on the McCarthy bandwagon. One thing for sure, he will put great value in trying to beat GB. If you look at his record, very little losing.
  16. The concept of a experience HC to help Johnson transition is a perfect storm. He brings the macho that I don't know if Johnson has. I never liked McCarthy but he fits everything you are looking for. Leader, offensive coach, success, won a SB. Believes in D and the running game. They say NO is interested but that can't be attractive to any coach with huge Cap problem. We could wait and if Johnson bails, I think McCarthy is still available. He may gain more favor with other teams. I will say winning in Dallas with all the Jones interference is a feather in his cap.
  17. Totally in the same place. I want a high energy alpha coaching our team? Which one is that? Is McCarthy a hard ass? I have never thought that. I think Monken is that personally type. I think the wild card may be Kingsbury. Been with Caleb, former HC, development of QBs. Maybe AZ54 has insight into Kingsbury time in AZ.
  18. Do I have a bad taste in my mouth about McCarthy because he was a Packer coach? I think he will be a winning coach but questioning him getting us to a SB. I think he is the only candidate that has actually won a SB. Maybe I need to be more open to him
  19. With a good OL, any RB looks better.
  20. I've been looking at RBs lately. Did we want the speed guy or power back in short yardage situations? I think Swift is our flash guy and Johnson a dependable backup, but more power on short yardage would help us in the red zone. This is a deep class and can get a good player with our mid round pick. Rahiem Sanders is 6'1"230 with 4.4 speed. Projected 5th round by Draft Buzz, he could fit that role. Lots of choices in mid rounds. Ian Cunningham comp pick would be a perfect spot.
  21. He definitely has a resume and would not be a bad choice but prefer Johnson at this point. Why did 2 teams let him go? I think he's not winning the big games his is downfall. How long ago was he in the SB? 2011 ? That was a long time ago.
  22. All those wins aren't flukes but the playoffs are a different breed. The cream rises to the top. Do not overlook LA.
  23. Yes a lot had to do with play calling. Kmet should have had 30 more catches this year.
  24. Yes, I would say RB or WR, always some talent still in play at pick 100. I think BPA is always in play at each spot. Appears to be more DL available at 10 unless we move back. Reaching with blue chip players on the board doesn't always play well . The second round will have OL available. Our first 4 picks should be trenches but if a WR, RB, or S with quality there, it should be considered. Lots of guards in top 72 to choose from, it's about value of the spot.
  25. I heard, one this year and one next year. It's a third round comp pick , so pick will be around pick 100. Anything helps. A good spot for a RB or OC.
