True but last year the top get was Harbaugh no matter who else's name popped up. I think Johnson is coming unless he decides not to. I like some other names but in questioning Johnson's culture, he was with Campbell for 3 years, I believed he learned from Campbell.

Interesting Article and Stats DT Carter vs Dexter
Stinger226 replied to BearFan PHX's topic in Bearstalk
I think a lot of voting has to do with the crede the players have already established more than team record but for new players getting better, you are more noticeable on good teams. Because of the overall doom and gloom of this year we just assume Dexter didn't get better but I think his breakout season is next year and was better this year. He works hard to get better and it will keep raising his play. Also Billings going out and nagging injuries to Sweat, it affected his performance. Once we add Jack Sawyer/ DE and Deonte Walker/DT our DL will be much better. -
Like you said Halas Hall never leaks information under Poles. Journalists keep trying to tell you they know what happens in the war room, I don't believe it for a minute. The info probably came from Johnson's agent. It's a good bargaining tool for any job to say everything went well. 4 teams left for a coach. Yes we have dysfunction with the owners but so does Jets, raiders. NO is in cap hell that will take a few years to change. That leaves us and Jax. I'm sure Johnson would make Lawrence better, but the rest of the offense isn't impressive They have Thomas Jr, we have Odunze and DJ. They have Tank Bigsby, and Travis E- we have Swift and Johnson plus I believe they bring in a rookie RB. They have Engram and we have Kmet who can both block and catch, Evans doesn't block. Both lines haven't been good but we have the assets to change that. We have 3 too 41 picks , they have pick 5 and 36. The final PFF ranking has us ranked 17th and Jax 21st with the OL. They claim 31 sacks were attributed to Caleb holding the ball to long and not making decisions quick enough. I agree with that. We have 83 mil in cap, Jax is at 35 mil. It will come down to who Johnson thinks is the better QB. Lawrence has a 206 mil contract already in place so if he's not the guy, Jax is a bad investment. Also Poles seems like a more likable guy than Trent Balkke. It may matter.

With Vrabel gone, it's Johnson, Joe Brady - Monkin. I'm leary of Carroll.
-
I haven't seen a story about Tomlin, did he get fired?
-
The only way Johnson is not coming here is money, like you said I hope they don't screw that up.
-
To be honest, I don't think either will be there at 10 which may drop Graham or Carter down. Hopefully dropping back and getting an extra top 50 pick works out. 4 top 50 plus 72 gives us 5 future starters. 3 on OL and 2 on DL.

Hard sell at Stanford for recruiting. Harbaugh is much better at it. Shaw just couldn't recruit there, it doesn't make him a bad coach.
-
People bring up Brady like he's majority owner. All he is is a PR guy for the team. Johnson will listen but they don't have as good a roster as ours and no QB prospect. We definitely are lead team now. Jax, NO, Jets, not happening.

There's no fast track if we want Johnson until he loses a game. Probably SB

Just seen a story where it was reported the bears want to interview Marcus Freeman. That's all bullshi. He just signed a 34 mil extension on his contract. These people just say anything and think bear fans will believe it.

I listen to one of those former QBs that analyzes NFL QBs and he said that footwork needs work and has messed with his accuracy. I'll try to find the video. He made a lot of sense. Statically Caleb's work was pretty good for a rookie but he has a ways to go before he's a top 10 QB let alone a top 5 . One habit that I saw was not throwing the ball away when there was no other option. One website that analyzes sacks said 1/3 of the sacks were on him . Get extending plays but when a blitzer was unblocked, you lose most the time.

I have read quite a bit about David Shaw that was the Stanford coach at one time. He is an interesting candidate. He is a Dan Campbell type. Lots of NFL coaching experience. Supposed leader of men. I'll try to find the article and share it.

Almost anyone that comes in here is an upgrade over Flus, so who ever they decide will be welcomed. I can never do the extensive oversight that they do. I think the experience of being a head coach matters. I think a strong hard ass personality will push accountable more. Who they bring with them will matter. I want a more chance taker similar to Campbell. Someone that values defense and running the ball also. Almost all the information on coaches is coming from agents not these insider info most people claim.

Since it's only the second time I have seen him,and don't know his history, not fair to judge on one game. Last year I watched Jon Alt play 3 games and he always looked like the first OT off the board. I watched one OT draft breakdown and said because of Campbell's football intelligence, he could be a all pro center from his first day in the NFL. He is a big guy with power and mobility and a born leader. If we drafted him at 10 and made him a center would you be okay with that?
-
After watching Texas and Ohio State, Kelvin Banks is not worthy of a top 20 pick. JT and Jack Sawyer has taken him to school The whole DL of Ohio State moved up the draft ladder. Jake Wilson/ OC has held his own against a awesome DL.
-
Why does the Colts want to trade him?
-
Watching Abdul Carter/PSU play. A total stud.
-
Connections and comrades are how most people get jobs in the NFL. Strangers are the acception.
-
If a coach is still active in the playoffs, you can only do a virtual interview. The podcast I watched said all but not sure that's true.
-
Urban Meyer was that college Coach and failed in his first year. They can stop trying to look like they're not leaving any stone unturned and just grab one of the front line coaches and stop the circus. Now if we don't get Vrabel, Johnson, or Carroll, maybe it's the right thing to do

So is this Warren's influence in the process? Last time we had a limited number and George gave Poles 3 to choose from. It seems like their they are trying to find the diamond in the rough instead of picking out of the top 5 candidates and buying one. Vrabel seems most likely to go to NE because of his history. Johnson probably knows who he wants but we can't get him until after the playoffs. So are we going to process our way out of the top choices?
-
Poles is doing interviews, he's not being fired. That was last weeks conversation.
-
It seems, with Warren input, they're trying to find a diamond in the rough like McConnell was hired in Minnesota. Just go get the best candidate and not screw around. For me: Vrabel - Johnson -David Shaw ( the more I read about him the more I like him). I would say Gruden but doesn't appear to have been contacted.

Next week he becomes available, his contract with Dallas runs out then. If they denied access probably means he's staying in Dallas.
