If we hit the top 5 , I can see us get in the position to trade back but the farther down we drop, I see less chance with a trade back of value. I agree with OT, but find OLB and then WR in our priority drafting spots. FAgency has some answers at WR so even though we will draft one I do not think it will be our first couple of picks . So I say we hit the top 5 and trade back for a 2nd and extra 3rd as you do with this order. IF we trade back in the teens, Arden Key and Clelin Ferrell are slotted as the BPA in that area so one of them. In the second round Jets have an extra 2nd so my scenario has us trading with the Jets. Slotted for the draft value in the early 2nd round, Orlando Brown and Martinas Rankin should be there. Still at WR with our other 2nd round pick, Cristian Kirk and James Washington would be value picks. In the third, There are several OTs slotted in that area of value, or also Parris Campbell the WR from OSU. So I think we grab Orlando Brown which could start at RT day one and then in the third draft a Tryell Crosby to groom at LT and take over for Leno after the 2018 season. Also a name I like that is rated lower that may change is Kolton Miller OT.

I totally agree, Bullard has not started until Unrein went down and he has 20 t and 1 sack RRH in spot minutes has 7 ts and 1 sack. With those two young guys on the roster and expected to ascend we will not be drafting a DE in the upper few rounds. I would argue that with Goldman's injury history we should think about adding depth to the nose tackle position before end.

Injuries is not an excuse but they have the mort lost time in the league for starters the last two years and it matters. Also the penalties are killing us. They just kill drives or TDs that Cohen gets. He has had more big plays called back than he has made. Pace has developed a core but has did well drafting but not very good at FAgency. The only good thing is he has front loaded contracts that allow us to cut players that dont pan out. So from a positive note, we have several building blocks going forward. Tribusky Shaheen Sims Howard Cohen Merideth Long (injuries beside) Whitehair Goldman ( barring injuries) Hicks Bullard RRH Trevathan (when not injured) Floyd Calahan Jackson I think this will be our core, and as much as I wanted us to see us win, losing gets us back to the top 5 giving us the chance to trade back and grab some extra picks. So I think if we grab a few WRs and a CB in FAgency and draft a couple of OTs and pass rushers in the draft, next year could be a LARams type of a turn around. ( at least 8-8 lookd doable) Having said all of this, the most important asset will be getting a good coach.

Actually I think that would be a good pick for the simple fact, FAgency has a lot of good CBs out there, Trumaine Johnson, or Melvin Jenkins. We are going to need to spend money and will get a couple of WRs, and with no good options in the OLine or at OLB, I think we can resign Prince or Fuller and then grab (again) a CB. Put them with 2 young safeties and Amos as depth, I think that puts us in a better spot. Also I think we may go pass rusher in the first and grab a O. Brown or Kolton Miller with the second pick. I really like what I here about Miller, mean streak and very physical. Because we signed Leno to a long term deal, I think we fill the RT spot first and then grab a OT to bring along and take Leno's spot in one or two years when cutting him would be more cap friendly. Leno is very average, but if the other 4 spots are strong can be managed on the LT spot.

If I was going to argue with someone over opinions, I think I would want it to be on something more interesting than this.

I think we may win 2 more games which gets us out of the top 10. I think if we are picking 10 to 15, we may not be able to trade back for the QB log jam.

I read where Kon Early who was cut and is playing for the Jets this year and is doing well since he got there, he will be a POTENTIAL FREE AGENT at 6'4" 275, could take McPhees place at OLB Career Stats SEASON TEAM GAMES TACKLES INTERCEPTIONS FUMBLES G GS TOTAL SOLO AST SCK SFTY PDEF INT YDS AVG LNG TDS FF FR TOTAL 90 53 37 15.0 0 14 2 16 -- 9 0 6 2 2017 NYJ 12 4 14 11 3 1.0 -- 9 1 9 9 9 0 0 -- 2016 CAR 16 6 32 19 13 5.0 -- 3 1 7 7 7 0 2 -- 2015 CAR 16 9 32 15 17 5.0 -- 2 -- -- -- -- -- 3 2 2014 CAR 15 0 12 8 4 4.0 -- 0 -- -- -- -- -- 1 -- Also I heard there is turmoil in Houston between O'Brien and the owner, he may be available as a head coach prospect.

With the bears oline injuries, I think Sitton comes back for one more year. Next year Morgan will be on the roster being groomed to take his place. I like Connor Williams much more than MM. I think there are several good OTs but not necessarily great. I think we will be winning a few more games which will limit our ability to be high enough to trade back. So this is what I would do with a no first round trade draft. ( I think we get the chance to trade back in the second round and a third so this is based on that trade scenario.) Round 1 Pick 8: Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson (B+) Round 2 Pick 18 (K.C.): Martinas Rankin, OT, Mississippi State (A) Round 3 Pick 18 (K.C.): Parris Campbell, WR, Ohio State (A) Round 4 Pick 8: Brandon Facyson, CB, Virginia Tech (A) Round 4 Pick 13: Tyquan Lewis, DE, Ohio State (A) Round 4 Pick 18 (K.C.): Tyrell Crosby, OT, Oregon (B+) Round 5 Pick 8: Auden Tate, WR, Florida State ( Round 6 Pick 8: Daniel Carlson, K, Auburn (A+) Round 7 Pick 8: Cole Reyes, SS, North Dakota (

I think in doing these drafts, you should limit to one or maybe two trades, when you do several trades, it is more fantasy than reality.
-
The problem this year is there is no high end OTs that fits Paces assending type player. As far as OLBs not much there unless you want to add a Junior Gillette that didnt pan out in Wash.
-
Copper didnt pan out, but what Pace does is throw darts at young vets hoping to hit another Hicks type of signing. What he does that I like is leaves an out if the player does not live up to expectations. So I think we should resign Fuller, he won't demand a big contract and Bryce Callahan.( not on the field due to injuries but plays well when on the field) Draft a CB and SS, not necessarily first or second round. I think we need to go out and grab a good CB, someone like Trumain Johnson, Terrrance Mitchell, or Malcom Jenkins.
-
With Rodgers, and Nelson at the end of his career, he will end up staying in GB. I think realistically we keep Wright, (slot), resign Merideth, and bring Inman back. So if we can get a Watson or Robinson, and draft a WR, we will be in decent shape. Lots of choices, we should get a decent one. If we keep Wright, probably wont be chasing Landry.
-
I think the play calling has been conservative for Tribusky's sake. They put something together and was able to run so there was a flow to the offense.
-
if we will a couple of more wins, you can kiss that top 10 pick good bye and the chances of trading our pick is much less. There will be 4 QBs taken in the first round and if will all be in the top 10
-
The positives: Tribusky looks like a high draft pick today. Shaheen looks like he could be a stud. If we get good oline play, we have Howard, Cohen, and Cunningham that can run. Loggins wont be back, but he has been quite creative today. A lot of guys hurt on the defensive side, but Callahan and Fuller are people we should be bringing back. Jackson will probably end up being a star. When we choose to run Howard, north and south, he looks so much better. What we lack is consistently but I see us potentially getting there next year.
-
Does it look like it? Its cold, on the road, and out of the playoffs, i would say not.
-
I think he was under used as a receiving TE due to the injuries on the Oline, he was primary a blocking TE which constitutes a over pay. They can let him go and will only cost them 666,000. I think with the development of Shaheen, they may renegotiate a lower deal and keep him. He is only 26, a good blocker with upside that has not been used yet. With his production , he wont find a good deal out there, so I think he will renegotiate his deal with little trepidation.
-
I never had a problem moving on from Gould, he was not good for two years, he even said in a interview that he had to get his shit together and now is showing the hard work by being relevant again. What I didnt like is hanging on to Barth as long as we did when he wasn't good.
-
I think out of that group, Sims, Trevathan, and Sitton stays. I think with all the problems of the Oline that Sitton will be around one more year to stabilize the line.
-
f you go by PFF , Leno is in the middle rating, and the money wasnt great, but against SF, he totally sucked. I would be happy if we just drafted all O lineman and WRs in the draft and rolled the dice. Free agent WRs have several good players so we wont need to do that, but both of those positions are critical to advancing MT as a future franchise QB.
-
The Oline is weak in FAgency and it is a must for us to move forward with any kind of offense, so we have to draft 2 OTs . One thing we overlooked this year is we had a new Oline coach and I think when we turn over the coaching staff, that is a priority. I think we can attribute Whitehair taking a step back from more than just being a moving part. Next year I think we bring back Sitton, Whitehair takes a step forward and hopefully Long now has time to be healed, we will have our inside strength of the Oline back in shape. Remember we have Kush on IR as well as Morgan gaining strength so we will have a solid 5 inside. The OTs is another story, Leno is very average and on some days sucks. I think we draft a stud OT and if possible get two in the draft. If not, then at least have the stud play RT for one year until we get in the area where Leno can be released in two years and groom a guy to play RT. In 2019 Leno's cap hit will be down to 2.7 mil. There are many good WRs in FAgency so sign two , get Inman and Meredith back, then draft a WR in the first couple of rounds. That takes care of helping TRubisky to go with a good running game. I hope the hell our new OC realizes that Howard is a power runner and quit the running outside crap.
-
It's really is hard to judge this team when the last two years 1/2 of the starters went on IR, let alone many prime time players playing one week and out the next week. We you completely remake the roster, its the depth that ends up killing you. With one more draft and some luck with the injuries, I think we can be a contending team for at least a winning record.
-
Landry will be expensive but he has a track record of catching footballs. Its a hard sell on Mathews with so much under production. Why would a up and coming team PHI was a young QB get rid of a good WR? There must be a reason they didnt want him. He stats look like Cam Merideth. ( He will be signed cheaper)
-
Since this year is trash, time to look forward. I think we need to pick up 2 WRs in FAgency from a pretty good group and then draft one or two in the draft. In the draft we are going to get a top 5 pick so we should be able to move back and grab a couple of extra picks from someone looking for a QB.(Giants, Broncos, Cardinals, Jets, Dolphins,Chargers, Bills) Buffalo has two first round picks and two second round picks , so for sake of this article, we trade our (projected 1-4 pick) to Buffalo for (projected 1-15 and 1-20 plus 2- 51 picks) So in the draft we have 2 1sts, and 2- 2nds, with those picks in the first round we get a OT and OLB, in the second round we pick a WR and either another OT or CB. So potential 2nd rounders are Equanimeous St. Brown 6-5 203 Notre Dame RSO Courtland Sutton 6-4 216 Southern Methodist Auden Tate 6-5 225 Florida State JR James Washington 6-0 205 Oklahoma State SR Dante Pettis 6-1 195 Washington SR Simmie Cobbs 6-4 220 Indiana JR Parris Campbell 6-1 208 Ohio State JR for sake of Argument, I take Sutton. In FAgency Jaron Brown WR ARI John Brown WR ARI Andre Roberts WR ATL Taylor Gabriel WR ATL Chris Matthews WR BAL RFA Mike Campanaro WR BAL Mike Wallace WR BAL Option Brandon Tate WR BUF Jeremy Butler WR BUF Joe Webb WR BUF Jordan Matthews WR BUF Kaelin Clay WR BUF RFA Walt Powell WR BUF RFA Charles Johnson WR CAR Cameron Meredith WR CHI RFA Deonte Thompson WR CHI Josh Bellamy WR CHI RFA Kendall Wright WR CHI Tre McBride WR CHI RFA Josh Gordon WR CLE RFA Brice Butler WR DAL Bennie Fowler WR DEN RFA Cody Latimer WR DEN Dontez Ford WR DET Jared Abbrederis WR DET T.J.
