I think you make a realistic view of stats, but I think Meredith ends up closer to White and White closer to Merediths stats. Meredith 72-856-5 White 66-903-6 Cruz 52-556-4 Wheaton 40-560-5 Cohen 44-462-4 Miller 40-410-3 Shaheen 32-330-6 Sims 30-310-2 Gentry 18-223-1 I agree Wright loses a roster spot but to Tanner Gentry makes the team.

Well some people are good with math and some people are good with words.

Bear Goggles has had many articles on projected stats for players Kevin White 2017 Projections: 11 games played, 57 catches, 735 yards, 12.9 YPC, 3 TDs Victor Cruz 2017 Projections- 13 games, 46 catches, 653 yards, 14.2 YPC, 3 TDs Markus Wheaton Projections: 31 catches, 363 yards, 11.7 YPC, 1 TD Kendall Wright 2017 Projections- 51 catches, 571 yards, 11.2 YPC, 4 TDs Dion Sims 2017 Projection- 31 catches, 292 yards, 9.4 YPC, 2 TDs Adam Shaheen’s 2017 season- 12 catches, 132 yards, 11.0 YPC, 1 TD Zach Miller 2017 Projections- 12 games played, 51 catches, 526 yards, 10.3 YPC, 5 TDs Daniel Braverman 2017 Projections: 24 catches, 244 yards, 10.2 YPC, 1 TD Cameron Meredith 2017 Projections- 87 catches, 1148 yards, 13.2 YPC, 6 TDs 2017 Jordan Howard Projections: 272 carries, 1306 yards, 4.8 YPC, 8 TDs, 37 catches, 380 yards, 2 TDs Benny Cunningham 2017 Projections: 74 carries, 311 yards, 2 TDs, 31 catches, 276 yards, 0 TDs Jeremy Langford’s 2017 Projections: 36 attempts, 133 yards, 1 TD, 9 catches, 81 yards, 0 TDs Tarik Cohen 83 attempts, 473 yards, 5.7 avg, 3 TDs, 45 catches, 455 yards, 10.1 avg, 3 TDs, Of all of these predictions, I think One of the new retread WRs have a bigger year than projected. I think between Wheaton,Wright, and Cruz, Cruz ends up taking off and has a 60-800-7 type of season which would reduce the projected stats of Wright. I also think White has a little better TD projection that the 3 they show. 6 TDs Overall I think Shaheen has more production than 12 catches, more like 35. I think Cohen having that type of year that Howards catches are down from the 37 they project. I also dont think Braveman makes the team with Wright and cruz in the slot.
-
He will have a lot of suitors and be priced high. He probably is a better WR than Cruz is, but I dont think we will pursue him. Cruz was ranked 80th in the league in receiving last year Macklin 92nd. Cruz and Macklin are similar type players, with only one year age difference.

Meridith strained a ligament in his thumb, no big deal, It is not a knee, or shoulder or leg injury, he will be just fine.

Forecasting Bears draft needs and offense looks thirsty
Stinger226 replied to ASHKUM BEAR's topic in Bearstalk
Another one to consider is Marcus Cooper, Bruce Arians was upset they lost him. I think Pace takes chances on players he thinks is about to breakout. Another canidate to have a very good year is Jaye Howard. He got a good contract from KC last year when his breakout year was in 2015.Then the injury disrailed him. His upside year will be this year on a prove it contract. I can see our DL having 20 sacks between him, Goldman and Hicks. It could put us in the position to lead the league in sacks. -

He is going to have to trade up in the draft because we will not be in the top 15 drafting this year. My point is, we are going to have a winning record this year, at worst 8-8. That is not the normal narrative in all of this but: QB will easily show more production out of this group over the emergency effort we had last year. RB with one of the established better RBs in the league, we also added scheme production with the likes of Cohen and maybe Cunningham.(although I think he may not make the roster)All of this will push more production out of Langford. WR how can anyone say our group this year does not have more upside than last year. Ashton had a mediocre season, our best WR. We will have two WRs with better production than he had last year. TE Other than a injured Miller, Paulson was our next best TE? Shaheen is a future all pro, Miller with less snaps will stay healthy and Sims not only gives us stability but helps the running game substantially . OL we improved dramatically last year and this year only gets better. Long hopefully stays healthy all year and much added depth at all positions. Massie will be average and Leno will be a improved below average LT. With the two TE scheming we will do , this will be one of our strengths. DL If we stood pat, a healthy Goldman and improved Bullard would have been great improvement but we added a starter in quality starter in Howard and good depth in Jenkins and RRH. a top 10 defensive front. LBers With Trevthan coming back and McPhee being healthy again, major upgrade but you add a second year of Floyd that will reach double digit sacks and Houston and Skatu in the mix, big thumbs up. I predict we lead the league in sacks this year. CBs just by numbers it has to be better, but with Cooper, Prince, Banks, Webb, and the improvement of LeBranc and Calahan, a giant step forward. Ss Demps will lead the team in Ints, you add Jackson that will be an all rookie candidate, the switch of Hall and Amos fighting for a roster spot, major improvement. Overall, barring injuries, we will have a winning record. That looks like an ridiculous statement from this side of the season, but stay tuned, it will happen. -
I would assume we are going to keep a FB by having two on the roster. Probably means we only keep 3 RBs? Cunningham probably doesnt make the cut.
-
I like his upside and he is working at trying to improve his body. At 6-7 285 and quick. I seen one video where the RB broke downfield for a run and from the opposite side of the field run the RB down. That is awesome. There will be a spot for him. Hicks-Goldman-Howard with Jenkins-Bullard- Robinson-Harris.

Just throwing darts at the board. Until White proves to be a #1, we have a #2 in Meridith, so lets upgrade the depth to see what shakes out. White? hedging our bet that he may be a bust Meridith a UDFA that turned out great Wright will play the slot and be able to stay healthy for a whole season with less snaps. Took Royals spot of the roster Wheaton is a boon or bust player, if he hits another #2 on the roster. Brings downfield speed Cruz, upgrades the overall depth at WR. If we hit, huge signing, if not, its just money Randle a long shot to make roster Gentry I would suspect to be a practice squad guy Bellamy probably on his way out, he had to many drops anyways Bravemen, I would say still has one more year on the practice squad but might be gone
-
He will be the next great NE QB. He is not traded because NE didnt want to trade him.
-
If he has one good year, I can see getting the same kind of attention Jimmy G got just do to the dire straits of teams needing QBs.
-
I can see a lot of flexibility with that formation. Instead of Howard, I can see Cohen being out there is space and frying the D.
-
They will only make sense if they work out.
-
I dont see a problem until it becomes a problem, several players missed today and its the ones coming off of surgeries. I suggest they are taking it easy on them.
-
I am not saying it is remotely close, my point was that was have two more players with the shot of being NFL type players. I think Nick K will be a starter in another year and will preform quite well. He may never be an all pro, but if he is a consistent contributor to our defense, I will say that is a good draft pick. As far as if we grabbed a , lets say a S, if he turns out all pro that is a very good thing. What if a top tier type S is already on the roster and have not developed yet. Bush,D. Hall, and then add the piece of Jackson, picking a top tier QB will have made all the sense in the world.
-
That is the difference of being a optimist and being a pessimist. Long will start out slow, but being they are bringing him along slow, will hopefully stay healthy the whole year. Whitehair is a stud and will only get better. I never understand why Bear fans wish bad juju on the Bears. I do not agree with everything but try to understand what their doing and always hope for the best.

I got the point of your first post was that what ruined Cris Williams and therefore moving Long will do the same thing. Being first round doesnt really have anything to do with it. Williams was never any good, they moved him with the hope he would be able to add something at another spot. Long, switched from LG in college to RG in the pros and made two pro bowls. Then , although he did not play as well, his switch to RT was not a bust. He is athletic enough to play anywhere on the line. I think the reason they will move him and it makes sense, is Sitton played 5 years on the RG spot and is more of a mauler than Long and will fit better in that spot. Long being a better mover will allow more help for Leno when needed. Yes Leno is our weak link and we did not address it, but you can never fix every problem with that years draft. We have a new OL coach, I feel his input is being added to the mix. Leno should improve his tackle ratings at least by maturity and maybe with the new coach. Does he still need to be replaced, yes but with Long and our new TEs we will scheme better output by Leno and the overall ability of the OL with improve. Two years ago we were rated one of the worst OLs in the league, last year, I think we moved up 10 spots. With one more year of experience of Whitehair, and Long being healthy all year, it will naturally be better. If Massie plays OK and Leno improves, one of our strengths will be the OLine. And by the way, I agree with you that we should just move him to LT, but am not badmouthing this move just because I agree that would make more sense.
-
Im not sure I can buy Cris Williams- Kyle Long as a good comparison scenario.
-
As far as the OL, if was much better than the year before, and Long was hurt for most of the year. This year will be better than last year. IF Massie plays like he did later in the year, he will be acceptable and Leno should improve. He is still the weak link on the OL but with obtaining Sims as a blocking TE, he will be moved to both sides to help out the OT spot. Also they are moving Long to LG to maximize his athleticism that will help out Leno. They are setting this up to be a better OL. With Grasu being back, with the signing of Kush. Bringing in some backup OTs will have improved the strength of the OL overall. Yes our OTs are the weak link but that will figure out a way to make it all work. Glennon is a pocket passer, our strength is up the middle, you play some two TE sets, the OL will not be a problem for us this year. They tried to upgrade Massie in FA but they didnt get their guy at RT. So they went out and get the best blocking TE on the market that will add to the strength of the OL. With Long being healthy, Whitehair getting better, the OL will be one of our strengths.

First of all, if you are talking about one draft pick, you are only being able to replace one player, not three. So if he is good, then he can bring that missing player back to you. You also have to consider, the fact in the first two drafts, he did not address the QB position, so that is two more players you have on the roster you would not have had before. Lets say, 4th round picks. The last two drafts would have been Jeremy Langford and Nick Kwiatkoski. Langford is a backup RB but can play in the NFL and Nick K will eventual be a starter. So if you are trying to make sense of this, we already have two players that have contributed to the roster. Pace grab a player that can help us win the next two years in Glennon, and then grabbed the QB he think will be a star. Before the draft he did not know if he would be able to get his QB, so he hedged his bet. If he was right about both of them, then this was a genius move, if not then he could lose his job.
-
I think there moving him to left side to maximize his athleticism. Help more with Leno
-
great article, you have to like Paces moves in getting who he thinks will be a stud. We never know how this turns out, but it takes balls to do what he did. I do not see us drafting another QB, unless Glennon falls on his face and does not have the prospect of him being around in year two. The fact the last two drafts should show you, that unless he thinks there is one worth drafting, he will take a prospect at another position.
-
everybody has fault when you go to one SB in the last 20 years.
-
Yes I agree, we have to see in two years about the outcome. I think having a pass happy offense, at least gives you the opportunity to see him able to make all the throws of a NFL quarterback. When in a run dominated scheme. Pace has tried to trade in the last two drafts, to go get Maiorta and then Wentz, so i think the fact that Pace liked both those QBs, you might say, he has a good eye for talent at that position. I have read from some experts that the Bears are lucky that Tribusky only has one season as a starter, because if he played two, he would be the overall #1 draft pick in the league and we would not be able to get him next year. There is people on both sides of the fence on what Tribusky will turn out to be, you can choose either side. Since he is a Bear, I choose to look at his high side, and you choose his low side because he only has 13 game starts. I think our future is bright.
