We dont know what would have happened if Forte stayed but truth is, he tailed off big time, and 75% sure he would not have did that well by what happened to him in NY.
-
He will do well there, Rodgers has the room as a leader plus he will get a ton of passes.

They wont be taking a QB at 3, with Glennon, that gives them the chance of taking a plum player there. As of now, Allen is back in the picture, the other choices will be Adams-Thomas-Lattimore I can see things fall this way barring a trade down. 1 Allen/5T 2 Peterman/QB 3 Justin Evans/FS 4a Fabian Moreau/CB 4b Ryan Switzer/WR or looking at a QB nobody is talking about 1 Allen/5T 2 Budda Baker/FS 3 Kevin King/CB 4a Cris Goodwin/WR 4b Chad Kelly/QB I read where all of his off field red flags came from a bar fight, since its not domestic violence , draftable

Im starting to pay attention to some of there stuff. If things work out he will be our # 2 or 3 CB ,so we have nothing to lose with adding CB depth. He IS the best CB on the roster right now. Maybe in another year D. Hall blossoms into a starter.

Alshon was not wanting to stay. His contract in Philly is 9.5 mil with 4.5 in incentives. I would have took a 5 year 60 mil-24 guarantee before that but if you want to leave, you aint staying.

IF you were on the ledge you probably had a 12 pack, so you had plenty of time to come back.

We are now in Paces wheelhouse, day 2 signing between 6 to 10 mil. We did not have a chance at Gilmore, NE is superbowl champs and paid him big money. bouye played well last year but was his first year as a starter and will prove out, he got over paided with the money he got. Ryan was not a shut down corner, but would have improved our CBs drastically. We still have players to get. Poe would be someone we could fit into what were doing but truth be told , he did not have a good year last year. 27 Ts, 1 and 1/2 sacks and one FF. I see us bringing in someone like Sylvester Williams as a depth at NT with Goldman the lead guy at a low price.Last year he had 29 Ts and 1 sack and will come much cheaper than Poe.

The whole key to this season as far as WRs, White is the savior or the goat, period.

I am disappointed at missing out on one big signing of a playmaker, but lets look at last year first. Everybody got excited at signing Trevathan but we missed out on Malik Jackson and Javous Jenkins, I dont remember people complaining much. We signed Hicks, Freeman and Sitton that all made our team better but I dont remember people celebrating such great free agents. Massie ended up being an okay signing. Hicks was close to being a pro bowl player, Sitton did make the pro bowl and Freeman played like a stud while Trevathan got hurt. On day one we didnt get blowed away but if we look back to last year, I would have to say we did quite well. You can not fix everything in one offseason. We were moving on from Cutler for better or for worse and other than trading for Jimmy G , we got the best free agent QB available, something we had to do. There were three teams bidding for him and the other two teams stopped at 10mil a year. So when were negotiating, how do we know what they are bidding? So Pace offered what he valued for the position and on hindsight we paid to much. The problem is on the first day of FAgency, you overpay. We do not know if he will be good or bad, but since making the choice there are a lot more people saying nice things about him than expected. So now we have a new QB and will soon draft a future prospect. This will prove it self out but if he ends up being the 15th rated QB in the league, I would say that is a win win. We all thought Jeffery was leaving for a long time and it finally happened and we're shocked. Truth is he didnt want to be here, I heard the contract we offered was the 11-12 mil for 4 to 5 years and he choose 14 mil from Philly. One thing to consider is Grohl was there his previous WR coach here when he got here. He wanted out and bet on himself. If he produces like he has the last two years, we will say we won that. There were better choices for S out there than Demps but what I heard is they needed a leader in the backfield and that is what he was in Houston. If you figure Hall, Bush, LeBlanc, Houston-Carson,Amos and Jones-Quartey all improve in their second year, we will look back on this as our best FAgency signing. We forget We have some upside on players we bought in last year, Bush, Hall that could potentially be NFL starters. I wanted Doyle but it is clear, he was given the Cots starting job when they traded Allen, so if we offered the same money or even a little more he didnt want to move. Sims is a blocking TE we didnt have last year, Paulson was suppose to be that guy and he sucked. If we are going to be running the ball more and a lot more two TE sets, we had to have a player like this. Is he a star, no but he can help to improve the over all performance of our offense plus we will draft one some where in the draft. Personally I think Brown will ascend as a TE this year and split time with Miller to help preserve him for the whole year. Wheaton has upside but having a down year because of injury, he could be sneaky good as our slot WR with top end speed. We will have to wait and see who else we get but this will end up being a good signing if he stays healthy. So in review, we had our one big signing at the most important position on the field. Glennon, the year will determine how good a choice this was. We added a WR but lost Jeffery, we have to wait and who else we get. If we end up with Pryor, I will not feel so bad about this. If we end up drafting Zay Jones, I will be excited for next year. Sims was a needed blocking TE and we have it, did we pay to much,Yes, this is free agency. Demps played as well any of the Free agent Ss did last year with 6 interceptions and if he adds leadership in the back of the defense this is a win win. There will be more signing and when its all over, we can start complaining but after one day, I am not sure we should be.

Seen where yesterday Fangio and the Dline coach were in alabama checking out Allen. I dont think they would be there if there was a bad medical on his shoulders. Also I read one statement , the reason they brought in Demps is to help develop the young guys. He is a leader in the locker room and a good guy. (Reported)

bears-mike-glennon-to-sign-three-year-43-5-million-deal
Stinger226 replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
The money doesnt mean anything, its how the deal is structured and guaranteed . if its 12.5-13.5-16.5 with 16 guaranteed. that would work -
Hooker would be on that list but has the injury history also.
-
By what Hoyer got , I would say the Glennon will be 3 year-35- with 16 guaranteed-12 the first year.
-
Hoyer is going to have a base of 6 mil and with incentives can make 9 mil a year for the next two years. He gets 10 guaranteed . So if we signed Hoyer with the idea of being a lot cheaper that just got thrown out the window.

-
How does that draft get a 14000 mark? It has 6 A grades when the first draft you did had 10 As and just 2 Bs. , you only got 10000.
-
There are 3 worthy of that pick, Jamal Adams--Marshon Lattimore--Solomon Thomas Allen has dropped out of that spot due to future injury potential. I would be satisfied with any of those 3 names.

He is the pre and post commentator on the Bucs network , has been working for the team for 5 years. It would be like getting a opinion from Marellus Bennett or getting one from Tom Thayer that has been around the team for many years. Anthony as Tom would have a better insight into the team from being around the team. Once again, you dont pay attention.
-
I totally understand where your coming from. I disagree with you on some subjects not all.
-
Upside is giving him the chance to see what he has as a starter. He has a low interception rate. If you listen to people that was with him in Tampa he gets a good review. I do not know enough but there is information out there that gives you an upside. Anthony Becht was on the score and he talked him up and he has been in Tampa for longer than Glennon has been there. Lawence Tye on twitter that played with him has favorable things to say about him. the upside is not coming from me but others that have been around him.
-
So there is not unknowns with a rookie QB that most experts say in the worst class for drafting a QB in several years?
-
I agree, if it ends up costing us 18 mil this year for cost of a QB and a rookie, to have two shots of upside is better than wandering around in wonderland any more.
-
I thing that is to much but if it is basically a one year of guarantee money and be able to get out of it. Im ok with that.
