I read an article about what vets are the next to go for the Bears. It is apparent that this team is bullish on getting younger as we were one of the oldest teams in the league. The article listed 5 vets who seem destined to be the next players to be cut. Corn Washington ---he has been around 3 years and you rarely here his name. He has measurable s but has shown very little since being a Bear. Suttons body doesnt fit the scheme but is more productive over his time here. Marq Wilson----- I think he started to show some zing last year but with a healthy Royal and Bravemen being added, he could be let go. Christ Jones---- With Trevathan-Freeman-Wilson- Kwiatkoski being added, his days are numbered Lamar Houston----I think we end up keeping Houston but that would leave 5 OLBs with Acho-Young-McPhee-Floyd. I think Acho ends up being odd man out. J Rodgers--- I think Rodgers is the best blocking back on the roster and end up staying with Carey on the spot.

So how this appears to play out Langford-Howard-Carey-Rodgers-Perry. So do we keep 4 RBs? I think we end up only keeping 3 and Carey could be odd man out. Howard fills that short yardage and change of pace roll. Also I think we end up keeping 4 TEs and I think that spot is taking one away from the RB numbers. I would hate to see Carey go but Rodgers plays a bigger role on STs

Amos started as a rookie and it assumed he will continue as the starter at one spot, but who gets the other? Harold Jones-Quarty started the last 4 games and had some good moments and will be given the spot until one of the rookies unseat him. He had 25 Ts, 2 PD and one interception. Also a FF. Amos had 2 PDs and no interceptions in 16 games. I think Amos starts but will be in the box and Jones-Quarty starts at FS. The possibility exists that by the end of the year Bush could be our SS and Howard-Carson could be our FS. The thing we need on defense is playmakers and Amos didnt really provide that for us last year. Bush could take playing time away from Amos as the box safety and Howard-Carson could prove to be the best play maker in the back half of the defense if we go by his college play making performance. I think Amos won the starting job more by default than by actually earning the position. So by the end of the year, you will see Bush and Howard-Carson starting at our S spots. What say you?

When you bring in good people to work, they get hired for other places, that will happen frequently with this regime.
-
I dont see this regime as lagging behind in doing business, just think they have different approaches to how business is done.

It shows how most smart people do well on grades and they also miss on some. Brown and Sanders are two examples and I am sure they were down graded because of size. Interesting.

The one area we need drastic improvement in is turnovers. That is why addressing the pass rush was monument and why we moved up in the first round. I think Goldman, Hicks and Bullard address up front pressure much better that will be felt on the back end of the defense. Once Floyd is up to speed, you have McPhee and Floyd aiding the edge rush,Freeman also adds to some inside pressure, with not much from Trevathan. What it does most is give Fangio more options to expand his rush schemes. As far as TOs hopefully the extra pressure with have positive results.

They will be better, but if expectations to high and it creates disappointments. I'll take a top 15 D. and be happy.

Seen where SD drafted a center in the third round, so Matt may be a transitional player if the rookie has anything going for him. He should win a starter spot, but it won't be given to him.
-
I hope all do well, I would say depending on the health of Royal, he should see many plays.

I agree with all your assessments.

Highlight films always make players look good. I want every player we picked up to be good NFL players, but truth be told if half make it, our GM will be rated at the top of the food chain. I really like the play of the Harvard TE, think he makes the team.

It sounds like he is still involved, i dont think it matters.

There would be no reason to cut Monroe, but if they traded him, you save his contract. They drafted Stanley that will take Monroe's place. They have Wagner at RT and I have read he graded out well. They drafted Alex Lewis in the fourth round that is said to be only a RT prospect. I suggest that if they get rid of Monroe's contract and lets say get a 4th round draft pick for that transaction it would be interesting option for the Ravens. By the way we have an extra 4th round pick and have plenty of cap space to absorb it. It upgrades a position for us we were not be able to address in the draft. Also it was said that we were going to draft Spriggs in the second when the Packers jumped up and grabbed him. That would tell me we are not as sold on Leno as everybody thinks. Monroe is 29, they drafted 11 prospects which should reduce they cap space by around 7 mil. With 5 mil, most teams leave around 4 for maneuvering during the season to deal with injures. So they cap space is borderline. Why would we do it? We have the cap space He has a Minimum of 4 decent years left. It solidifies our Oline for the next 3 to 4 years leaving Leno to progress and possibly become the everyday LT in another one or two years. Monroe's money is 6.6 guaranteed this year but in 2017 and 2018 only 6.6 mil left so would be easy to get rid of him if he didnt work out.

He has played both positions and I think last year he was the starting center for Lions, but dont know that for certain. -

I think they may be the future but not sure that is how it plays out this year. I think Rameriz may start in front of Grassu and Larson may start with Whitehair later in the season. -
With Balt drafting Stanley, I can see Eugene Monroe being traded or cut. He would definitly be an upgrade as the LT and is only 29, would have 3 to 4 years left at a high level. With Hargraeves going to TB and then grabbing Grimes in FA I can see them cutting loose of Alterraun Verner/CB. He played well before he got to TB and he is 27.

I would like that draft better, but unfortunately you werent in the draft room.

Houston and McPhee, and probably Floyd could slide up on the line without changing personal. I think we have the 3 inside Nick-Tevanthan and Freeman 6 outside Floyd,McPhee, Houston,Young,Roberson-Harris and maybe Ocho Ocho may get cut and then probably could keep Timu

I actually think DHC has a better shot of being the starter than Bush.
-
I think he is more likely to stay and Young be the odd man out.
-
At 6'4" 285, he fits the part, but in four years has always been a no show, hard to get excited about him with no progress.

I just seen info that we have an offer out to Obien Schonfield/OLB that is a still a FA.

I think SCS was right, it the board fell like it should have, Hargraeves would have been gone, Giants would have took Floyd, actually I think we would have took Rankins the next other speed rusher available.
