Just seen some stats from PFF on Floyd. in 178 pass rush snaps he (54% of his playing time) had 4.5 sacks, 8 QB hits, and 29 hurries. This keeps sounding better.
-
Ya didnt think about Spriggs but he could be a starter in year one.
-
I was afraid they were moving up to grab Paxton Lynch when it first happened. I have been reading and looking at everything I can find on Floyd and I have to admit, I am warming up to the idea. Fox and Fangio always have had stud pass rushers in there defense. I think with there excitement they think they got one. I think in the first year he will be used excusably as a pass rush specialist, but as he gains weight and functional strength, he will be a regular OLB. Young could possibly be traded for a late round pick today, Getting rid of Houston is possible with his contract but the fact is those two arent our future at OLB. I think they are both good players but will be gone in a year and is not viewed as our future. I think he ends up as a 250lb speed edge rusher that could get you 12 sacks a year and would be very good addition to our defense going forward.

:banghead That is who I grab if I was picking but dont sleep on Billings, Reed or surprise pick Johnathan Bullard( I keep seeing his name pop up on rated high.)
-
In the second round we could go many different ways. At TE we may get the chance to grab the best TE in the draft Hunter Henry( not a blocking TE but the best available) Vannett and Morgan are the two best blocking TEs left in the draft and could be gotten in 3 or 4. I think we wait on TE RB) Henry is still out there and we valve Running in this offense. In latter rounds we have choices at RB Howard Collins Prossie Booker Dixon I think we wait on RB DL) We have lots of options here-Reed, Jones,Robinson,Billings,Bullard In latter rounds Day Johnson Washington Ridgeway Collins I think we grab one of the best available CB) Alexander is still out there and rated very high others valved as a second round pick Fuller Howard If Alexander is still there dont be surprised if we grab him. S) Vonn Bell is still there and highly rated others rating of a second round pick Cash Thompson Mills I think we wait on S and grab a prospect later to develop QB) Cook is still there and probably the only left that has 2nd round valve Other options later Hackenberg Jones Prescott Hogan Allen I think we grab a propect in 4th or 5th round ALSO we could trade back and grab an extra pick which is very possible.

The 6 players that would make the biggest impact for our team(in no particular order) Hunter Henry/TE adds a healthy move TE most compared to Greg Olson Derrick Henry/RB bruising back that would add to a RBC Darrin Reed/5T would add stablity to DL Cris Jones/5T would complete our front DL Mackenzie Alexander/CB would start day one in our Nickel package on defense Vonn Bell/FS would start as a rookie to add to Amos tandem

If we want point of attack power DTs that are run stuffers: Reed Robinson Jones Billings Bullard If we want a 5T with pass rush abilities: Ogbah Kaufusi Nassib Hargrave Dodd I think we valve speed the top 5: Spence Ogbah Dodd Bullard Knaufusi Here is my top 5 that rate as speed, run stuffer, pass rush Reed is highest rated run stuffer with pass rush upside Jones can play run and has upside with pass rush Billings can do both Bullard keeps popping up at all areas of good traits Kaufusi keeps popping up at all areas of good traits Surprise picks Bullard- run stuffer, pass rush ability Billings -power and interior push Kaufusi-speed and production Jason Hargrave/DT from South Carolina State 13 1/2 sacks last year Shelton Day/DT he ranked only 2nd to Buckner in all defensive stats for a DL

The brass think his speed , quickness, and desire turn him into Aldon Smith. We will have to wait and see, but the pick is starting to grow on me.

If we look at all the mocks that were out there, the results show most people have no idea what there talking about. We think teams are reaching for a player because they drafted somebody we didnt see in a first round draft. I would say the mockers had it wrong not the teams. So in the second round we can get a very good player. TE is a spot we could upgrade and Henry is being compared to Greg Olson( I could live with that pick) S- Vonn Bell is the highest rated FS by most mocks and would be a good pick at a position of need. DL- many choices here-Robinson-Reed-Cris Jones-Andrew Billings-Bullard-Day-Austin Johnson RB- Henry-Dixon-Perkins-Howard CB-Alexander I think if we can get Cris Jones-Jarron Reed- Andrew Billings- we should pull the trigger. Dont be surprised if we grab Vonn Bell/FS Hunter Henry/TE Alexander/CB

This is way to early to jump ship, he has made some mistakes(McDonald), but his draft class last year had 4 contribute without our 1st rounder not on the field. The only important thing is we become a winning team. I think White becomes a stud this year, Grassu will need one more year of gaining functional strength and he will be a 6 year starter at OC. Goldman looks like he will be a blue chip pick, Amos at worst will be a average starter at S. Langford will be a pleasant player. We wont know how everything grades out for a couple of years but at least I can see what he is trying to do. He has brought in some good FAs , so going forward, I give him a B for all that he is did. If all of us was out having a beer together, you would be the one in the group that would bitch because the waitress took to long to take our order. Would complain because the air conditioner isnt set low enough. Bitch because they dont have enough urinals in the bathroom. As far as the pick, sitting here, I would have preferred someone else but the two most important players on the field are QB and pass rusher. We dont have a speed rusher on the team. If he turns out to be a 12 sack a year guy we will look back on this pick and give him cudos for recognizing that now. A safe pick would have been Hargraves, but there were questions with Jack, Tunsel. They went and got a player they wanted, I have to give them credit for that. A few years ago we waited for Donald to drop and he got picked one before us. They got who they wanted , now lets see what they do with that.
-
Aldon Smith had 33 and 1/2 sacks his first two years, so they must think he can be him. He is faster than smith was but has to put on some weight. needs to be 250.
-
pass rush was the most desired trait, and I am interested what they can do with him.
-
Lets face it , we have no idea on this turns out, but they traded up for him, so they must think he can be the man. Now time will tell if they were right.
-
hopefully they got it right, I am sure Fangio and Fox are in on this decision.
-
hopefully they got it right, but doesnt look that way from this side of the fench
-
the only player I didnt want, the great pass rusher had 4.5 sacks last year, dont like this
-
Bears trade up, for who
-
Stanley wont fall, and there is a chance Conklin is gone to the Giants before us.
-
From everything I am hearing today, our pick will be Lawson or Rankins. I think they they are probably right. REASONS: pass rush pass rush pass rush
-
Everything you hear right now are lies from GMs , no one is going to let you know what they think they will draft.
-
Gabriel was talking on the score that his medical news is not good and could drop like a rock in the first round.
-
I have read he plays inside like a 3T in the nickel package. Goldman, Rankins, Akeim and McPhee or Houston moving up to the line in a rush package.
-
The best situation would be either Bosa or Buckner dropping. low chance The second best scenario would be us to trade back with Tenn (looking for a OT) which would get us an extra 3rd round pick by TVC. so we trade back with Tenn and get 15th pick (choice of Reed,Lawson,Jackson III) and there 76th pick 15th pick---Lawson / I think we valve pass rushers and he has the body of McPhee and the pass rush skills of Chandler Jones. 41th pick--Cris Jones/DT is still here so we grab a starter for the DL 72nd pick-C J Prossie we definitly grab a RB and he will fit in well with our RBC 76th pick(Tenn trade) Sean Davis can play both CB or S and will start as a rookie 103 pick Nick Vannett a TE that can block and has upside as a move TE 127th pick Willy Beavers/OT a LT prospect that could press Leno for starting time in 2017. 150 pick Kevin Hogan/QB you should never draft a QB unless you one day think he can be a NFL Starter, I think his upside is Ryan Tannehill 185 pick Dan Vitale/FB-TE I think he gets drafted higher than most people think 206 pick Quinton Jefferson/DL I think he is a potential rotational prospect with good size 230 pick Kalan Reed /CB a small school prospect with upside
-
The more I read the more I think we dont draft a LT with our first pick. Pace keeps mentioning play makers on D and I see one being there and us grabbing one, sitting on Leno improving in year 2. I heard Thayer last night talk about Leno and he thinks he can be a serviceable LT in the league. He likes him a lot and his cudos sounded favorable.
-
round 1( I think he will be the BPA) so we should draft him at a spot of need. round 2 will definitely be a DL and Jones still should be there. round 3- I like this pick as we will be definitely adding a RB and that will be the right round to get a good one round 4- I think Allen can be gotten later and Hall will have to be drafted here(wont last to the 6th) I prefer David Morgan to Adams just because I read he is a better blocker and they both sit in the area of the draft round 5- I think Allen can still be gotten here round 6-Fenney has upside but with the other pick I would go Justin Zimmer/DT a small school prospect round 7- Everybody puts Vitale in this round and I think he gets drafted higher.
