Hoyer could be Bear if DEN doesn't sign him...
Stinger226 replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Just seen we are now having a visit with Hoyer, I think we have the money to have a decent backup QB, would be a good signing. -
For every good example you give, there are 5 that didnt turn out well. History doesnt lie.
-
Stanley would be fine but his question has to do with work ethic and desire, you dont have those problems with Conklin. I think the best case scenario would to have someone want our pick and move down several spots and still take Conklin. I have seen several mocks that have 4 OTs going in the top 20 and Spiggs not far behind. If we got a 10 year starter at LT, I would be happy, the line would be studly going forward.
-
I like all of it except for Oakman, have read up on him and he has had problems follow him every where he goes, not anybody to hook a wagon to
-
I actually would like if we took Conklin with our pick. He is a nasty high motor player and would give our Oline some character. Id be happy with any of those drafts, I see names I like in all of them. A good draft should get us 3 starters and a couple of contributors the first year. Those all have those

I have to admit, Im a draft nerd and do a draft in fanspeak everyday, here is my favorite one I have done, I used CBS rating system 11: R1P11 DE DEFOREST BUCKNER/OREGON 41: R2P10 S VONN BELL/OHIO STATE 72: R3P9 CB XAVIEN HOWARD/BAYLOR 106: R4P8 RB C.J. PROSISE/NOTRE DAME 127: R4P29 OLB JAYLON SMITH/NOTRE DAMe 150: R5P11 TE TYLER HIGBEE/WESTERN KENTUCKY 185: R6P10 OT WILLIE BEAVERS/WESTERN MICHIGAN 206: R6P31 S TYVIS POWELL/OHIO STATE 230: R7P9 DT QUINTON JEFFERSON/MARYLAND the fourth round is when I started taking risks Smith and Higbee with several good picks , I sneaky like Powell in the 6th, a great valve there Buckner dropped, got a starter in Bell, and Howard becomes the third best CB Prosise and Higbee become rotational players

The only way we do this is if he plays for like 12 mil a year, 49ers are a cash cow and will pay him the 16 mil. follow the money
-
If you subtract draft contracts and operating capital for the year, only the 49ers, Jaguars, and Browns, are in the position. The Giants and Bears are next on that list, but to have 16 mil to give to him, they would have to shuffle money. He wants to go to contender, and to the West Coast. 49ers seem the best chance because it will come down to money and he will take the money. When in Philly Kelly paid Byron Maxwell 63 mil contract that averaged 10.5 mil a year. They could easily give Norman 5 year 96 mil. Any huge contracts to FAs usually turn out on the wrong side. Look at the money they gave Suh last year and the team got worse, then they lose good players because they didnt have the money to pay them. Simply giving huge contracts is dumb and dumber III If he wants to play for a contender, us and the Giants are the only teams close to being contenders, is he going to sign for 12 mil? no way

If we go BPA and also seek an impact player, it narrows down who we will grab. Elliot star RB Lawson edge rusher Hargraves ball hawking CB I think we would be best served with an OL or DL but the Bears are so quiet we will never know who they valve.

Why are the Bears pushing low round draft picks so much?
Stinger226 replied to 'TD''s topic in Bearstalk
The Bears arent doing anything, writers are hunting for writing material after months of talking draft. Go spend some time on twitter, every thought you had in your head, people throw out there. THEN it takes flight and all of a sudden everybody believes that shit. The Bears are very good at keeping quiet. Everybody looks to who they look at before the draft and the fact is, White is the only players they drafted that was a pre-draft prospect. No one has any idea which way they go, but they keep up the breath of BPA and that is how good teams draft. Hopefully we become one of those teams. With the potential of 3 QBs and 1 RB going in the first 10 picks, we will have a chance of a blue chip player. it will be one of these players: Stanley Bosa Buckner Jack If there is a scenario that they are all gone Elliot could be there and I think we could draft him. Also Hargreaves will definitely be there and could be our choice. -
Henry will be a stud RB, would have to take Elliot first and he a close 2nd. They both will be gone by the early 2nd round.
-
I am not sure anybody has the money left in the till to give him that heavy contract. I think someone will throw 1 year 15 mil at him and then he would hope to catch a big contract off season. We dont need to be that team.
-
Seen where Norman has been playing zone corner, not a press corner
-
Paying the kind of money he is asking for never turns out well.
-
We have the money and he is young, why not.

Hoyer could be Bear if DEN doesn't sign him...
Stinger226 replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
So many people makes comments that people take to seriously. It would be an upgrade for us, but at what cost? If they truly find a draft able QB, are they really going to put Hoyer on the roster? -
That also probably moves up the mid level QBs too, with an early run. Cook,Jones could move into the second. I think most every team views Goff and Wentz as potential starters with a good upside, si any needing a QB bad has to move to the top to make sure they get one, before someone else makes that move.
-
I think he would be a good DT in a 4-3, but is small for the NT spot in our scheme. So you wouldnt have any problem if he was our first round pick?
-
Can anybody explain the Sheldon Rankins love going on with people? I think he is a good player but does not fit our D scheme. I have seen several mocks having him being drafted by us in the first. Is he suppose to be Aaron Donald? His stats dont show that. Maybe he could be a smallish NT but with Goldman already here, I wouldnt understand that pick if we took him in the first.
-
I think two aspects that are underrated are good work ethic and the love of football. Usual these types are underrated because of their measurable but are productive players. I dont remember the name of the Penn State DE that was a good player but didnt have the desire to play football and turned out to be a first round bust for us. (anybody remember his name) I have no problem if just a eccentric or nut job type if he has those two characteristics . Out right criminals dont bother me if not felonies or physical abusers. DUIs or marijuana charges , just mean they make bad judgement calls, as long as they dont have bad histories of abuse. The Marshall's and Bennett's are people you could live with as long as they dont drag the team down. They usually wear out there welcome and move around a lot , like they did hear.
-
You never can have enough pass rushers, but with McPhee, Young, Houston, and Ocho, I think we can get by for a season with out taking one in the first round. There are several after the third round that could play special teams and have some upside. In the first round, I only think Lawson has the potential to be worthy of that pick. I dont think Floyd and Spence are worthy of the 11th pick. I think people like Correa, Fackwell,Ngakoue,Ochi, and Holmes are good choices and valves at later rounds. Correa in the second along with Floyd and Spence(who wont make it that far). The rest of that list at appropriate round valves. I personally like Ochi, or Holmes in as early as the 4th round with high upside.
-
That is true, but does that mean we should reach at the QB position no matter what round you choose in? No in the first or second but no problem after the third round.
-
The risk has a lot to do with what round you take them. Anything after the third doesnt have as much expectations, so later rounds really is when you take chances. Nkemdiche- no way in the first, probably in the second, and absolutely in the third. The biggest concern I have with types are athletic studs, but low production. If he cant be productive at a college lever, how can you expect him to pick it up at the speed at the NFL. Some do it, most dont. Oakman is off my list, because of behavior and being stupid with the chance coming to earn a huge payday. How do you expect him to act normal after he gets millions of dollars in his pocket. Boeringer, is a late round shot in the dark, anytime after the 4th round would be OK. Justin Ferris is probably more of a high reward and low risk than in this category. Probably a sleeper type. He was highly productive at Ferris State, but would he count only because of such a low level of competition? How about Noah Spence? If taken in the first round would definitely fit that mold. Second probably not so much.
-
I am not going by strength of draft, but by our depth. Were screwed if Rolle is bad, so i think we could use a starter there. We have Ferguson who could be a starter, but no depth on the d-line Obviously health affects every position, but right now we would be ok at cb, but in a passing league you cant have enough cbs

2 names I'll throw out the there is Wendell Smallwood and Daniel lassco. They sound like interesting 4th or 5th round picks.
