If players are rated close of course you pick need. From everything I read there are 8 to 14 blue chip types in this draft, depending on who is grading. When i listened to Gabriel on the score he told on teams make up there draft board, and some place higher value on different aspects of draftees. From what i read Pace rates speed as a high value, ao it nay change how we look at things. If one of the blue chip players are there, i dont think it matters what position he is. The qbs will be gone and the wrs and tes dont have high enough ratings to pick there. Guards and centers arent rated high enough but every other position sre open .jack has been listed to play any lber position, so if thet draft him he would be thrown olb.

Never gave it much thought, but he could be a brilliant ss, he has good coverage skills.
-
If i had a choice i would choose to draft Buckner or Ramsey. If stanley is gone , i like Conklin better, he is more athletic, a nasty attitude and will be there at 11. If we go left tackle we can get a goid one.

I am in china right so I have been listening to the score as i waste time. Gabriel has been on for 4 hours and had interestingconversation. He thinks Bosa has the best chance of dropping. Thaf he put on 15 pounds and be a premium player as a 5 T. I have never thought he could be there before. He is always listed as atop 5 player. . What do you guys think?

Of course we still have needs, if you draft for need and pass up a premium player, you do no service to the team. Hunter will be drafted in the second round because of depth at the position in the draft, but truthfully he is avthird round pick for valve. We would be better off drafting Vannett in the 4th than hunter in the second. With our first two picks we have a chance at getting impact players. Lets say the BPA in the first is likely Elliott, then you have have to take him even though we have Langford. If its lawson who could get us 10 sacks as a rookie even though we have depth at that position. He will habe more impact. Leno is ok but if stanley is there (i prefer Conklin even at 11), he would make us a better team. I don't like Hargreaves but he may be the BPA at the time. I think possible one of top players drop with the potential of 3 qbs and 1 RB being gone. Bosa, Buckner or Jack.

Smith is listed to play olb or iilb depending on where you read it, if they draft him, it should be at least the fourth round and plays in 2 years. He could be a major player if he dully recovers.

How about Tennessee trading back to us to get stanley if he is there. The 15th and ine second gets them our pick and could still probably get Robinson or jackson
-
Butler could surprise but no way jones goes in the first. He has 2nd or 3rd round grade.
-
That tells you something about how smart he is to put himself in harms way this close to the draft. I think a lot og teams take him off there board. A sexual assult charge is huge, we probably won't touch that either after the Mcdonald circus.
-
They will be definitely taking a QB somewhere .I think Hogan in the 4th would be a good pick. We have 2 4th rounders. I think the top 3 could go in the top 10 which could give us trade options
-
They never have enough pass rushers, so dont be surprised if Lawson is our first pick. They can move McPhee up on the line and have in on passing downs
-
Anybody pay attention that taylor Decker is working out with kyle long. I find that interesting.
-
that would work quite well , let me throw another guy that we actually had in for a visit, Ray Robinson-Harris/UTEP

On not on the premium side of fanspeak so could not do trading, but I agree, trading down and getting another pick would load the team for the future.I still think we draft a QB this year with some protests available. Wentz is the best QB this year and the only deserving of a high pick, but we do not have the luxury of drafting one so high, to far to go.

Here is another stupid Fan speak draft I would love 11: R1P11 QB CARSON WENTZ NORTH DAKOTA STATE 41: R2P10 S DARIAN THOMPSON BOISE STATE 72: R3P9 DT VERNON BUTLER LOUISIANA TECH 106: R4P8 RB DERRICK HENRY ALABAMA 127: R4P29 TE NICK VANNETT OHIO STATE 150: R5P11 CB MAURICE CANADY VIRGINIA 185: R6P10 OLB SCOOBY WRIGHT ARIZONA 206: R6P31 DT ANTHONY ZETTEL PENN STATE 230: R7P9 DE TYRONE HOLMES MONTANA Wentz was there so I had to take him, all the other high level players were gone at that point. Henry will never last until that round but had to take him. I am quite happy with my last for picks.

I think Gabriel has a lot of good things to say but he is not always right, just one of many opinions that knowledgeable people have. I think you evaluate information and draw your own conclusion. How many smart people passed up on Brady when he was drafted in the 6th round, all of them. Scouts only have to be right some of the time, nobody is right all the time. the keys to a player evaluation but next is development, and then staying healthy. I place a lot of valve on production, desire, work ethic then add in the physical straits. Some work out and some dont, I want the Bears to hit on everything but the truth is many wont. They gave Porter a minimum contract and he produced. Ball got a few bucks and didnt . you have to keep going to the well until you build a team and hope it stays healthy and then we may luck out and got to a SB again.

Gabriel - Detail behind setting a draft board
Stinger226 replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
I think when they make up a draft board, it has a lot to do with valve. Sure thing types carry a better valve than ones with risks. Drafting a player in the first round brings risk but in the third would be considered a great valve. -
Here is one spot where Conklin and Decker are both rated higher than Stanley. You asked for that information from another post.
-
This is not all something draft, but on Fanspeak, I do a draft everyday and this is my favorite one I have done so far 11: R1P11 DE- SHAQ LAWSON-CLEMSOM 41: R2P10 S- KARL JOSEPH-WEST VIRGINIA 72: R3P9 DT- ROBERT NKEMDICHE-OLE MISS 106: R4P8 TE NICK VANNETT-OHIO STATE 127: R4P29 CB ERIC MURRAY-MINNESOTA 150: R5P11 RB JONATHAN WILLIAMS-ARKANSAS 185: R6P10 QB KEVIN HOGAN-STANFORD 206: R6P31 DT ANTHONY ZETTEL-PENN STATE 230: R7P9 WR JORDAN PAYTON-UCLA My favorite name in the draft is Jordan Payton (A Chicago name if I ever heard one)
-
That would actually not be a bad draft
-
Anybody paying attention to Austin Johnson from PSU, has game.
-
The problem they say about Stanley is his focus and desire. Conklin is said to be a nasty attitude guy with a high motor. I have seen Conklin and Decker both rated ahead of Stanley. I think Stanley is not the 2 nd OT taken in the draft.
-
Never at 11 but if there is no great players at 41, I would consider it. The problem with him is a boom or bust. I do not like players that are physical studs and have lousy production. Means they either are lazy or dont love football. More of those fail than succeed. Think there will be a better player to take at the spot he will be gotten at.
-
I think were interested but dont see us giving out a 100 mil contract with we are 2 to 3 years away. I think that is something you do when your going for it, like when Denver grabbed Ware and Ward but were not large contracts.
-
I think the plan is 2 or maybe 3 years from now to be contending. If we got Mo, we're in instant cap ristrants. AJ, Mo, and Long coming up. I think if we drafted lets say Robinson, he would be relativity inexpensive for 4 years, could turn out to be a Wilkerson type and we have no cap restraints. I do not think we do because of the money. Tell me what Suh did to help Miami get to a SB? nothing
