The solid part of FA is over, what is left to do

I thing if we got a quality guard it would be more desireable to have Slauson at center. Of course all of this is based on the thought of Gauss's progress. Someone like Louis Vasquez/29 is still a good player. -
Reading is a skill, never once did I say quit being a bears fan, I stated if you you like them so much go watch that team. You can continue your Bennett Love, Marshall love. Non of the argument had to disliking then because they are no longer bears, it has to do with understanding WHY the coaching staff no longer wants them. You act like Fox called me up and asked my opinion, I am just agreeing with his opinion. I think both are productive players, but trying in instill a winning culture does not always accept me me me players. You have a right to your opinion it just is not the same as mine. Its ok if you want to just say IM STUPID, because you read something in to words I laid down. No where did I say in that post to quit being a Bear fan, or because there ex bears to dislike them, Im not that everything they do ok fan.

I think when the coaching staff said they wanted him back if was a courtesy call.

I think our big contracts are our of the way but with the Bennett deal we got an extra 5 mil to spend here is who I still want to be here Jared Crick/DE 26 with 31 starts under his belt. Still has upside for growth. better than Jenkins that contributed last year. Will be very reasonable Scott Chandler-30 he is not a great pass catcher but a very good blocker. To make a complete position for that spot we need a good blocker. Rashad Johnson-30- 3 years younger than Rolle and has some game Patrick Robinson- finally had a good season, was ranked in the top 30 CBs by PFF for depth Will Montgomery in case Gassu needs more time we have a comptant replacement Sam Ocho if we dont draft a OLB will add some depth at a position Out of everybody, Johnson has the most valve

Here is my darts at our draft 11: R1P11 DT A'SHAWN ROBINSON BPA and will be a very good player in the NFL ALABAMA 41: R2P10 OLB KEVIN DODD I think he becomes a better NFL player than his counterpart at Clemson(Lawson) CLEMSON 72: R3P9 S VONN BELL I think he is the best FS in the draft-Amos will play better at SS for us OHIO STATE 107: R4P8 TE NICK VANNETT A well rounder player that has upside as a receiver . OHIO STATE 128: R4P29 RB TYLER ERVIN He was the BPA at the time, has great return skills and will fit in as a RBC SAN JOSE ST 151: R5P11 CB ERIC MURRAY A big corner with developing skills MINNESOTA 186: R6P10 DT MATT IOANNIDIS I read a few scouts opinions and think he could develop into an every down starter one day TEMPLE 207: R6P31 QB JACOBY BRISETT Just a prospect to work with, we have to face the fact that Cutler is going to be around for the 3 or 4 years NORTH CAROLINA ST 231: R7P9 K ROBERT AGUAYO Goodby norma jean(Gould) we knew you well FLORIDA ST This is how this draft fell using the NFL.Com rankings I could bye into it.

i would say that is worth a dollar. Sometimes I am overtaken with sarcasm and will post things with a sense of humor involved. Sometimes when I say that was a stupid statement it is not meant to be said as calling a person stupid. When people take it personal, I sometimes jump on that bandwagon. There are a few people I am animated with, but I dont honestly dislike anyone on here. I valve the discussions and difference in opinions, sometimes it changes mine. Opinions are like assholes we all have one. Some thoughts have reasons that are just stupid, I admit some come out of my mouth sometimes. We are all passionate about the Bears or we wouldnt be on here so much. Sometimes I say smart things and sometimes dumb, nothing is absolute, but everything is driven by passion just not always well thought out as I like.

Actually one I like kis Scott Chandler. He is on the wrong side of 30 but is a very good blocker with some receiving skills. He wont be back in NE so through him a minimum deal and we may something that works.
-
The persona is that NE never screws up but that is simply not true. They acquired Jon Bostic last year from us in a trade. Here is his highlights for them: Jonathan Bostic was acquired by the New England Patriots in a trade from Chicago on Sept. 29, 2015 ... Originally drafted by Chicago in the second round (50th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. SEASONAL REVIEWS 2015 (11/1 – Patriots) Was inactive in the AFC Championship at Denver (1/24). Was inactive in the playoff victory vs. Kansas City (1/16). Was active but did not play at Miami (1/3). Contributed on special teams and as a reserve on defense at N.Y. Jets (12/27). Contributed on special teams and as a reserve on defense in the win vs. Tennessee (12/20). Made his first start as a Patriot at linebacker and posted one special teams tackle at Houston (12/13). Contributed on special teams vs. Philadelphia (12/6). Contributed on special teams and defense at Denver (11/29). Contributed on special teams in the win vs. Buffalo (11/23). Contributed on defense and special teams in the win at N.Y. Giants (11/15). Contributed on special teams and took his first snaps on defense as a Patriot in the win vs. Washington (11/8) posting one tackle on defense. Contributed on special teams in the win vs. Miami (10/29). Contributed on special teams in the win vs. the New York Jets (10/25). Made his Patriots debut and contributed on special teams, posting one special teams tackle in the win at Indianapolis (10/18). Was inactive in the win at Dallas (10/11). What NE has is a very good coach, and Tom Brady. They roll people in and out until they find the right ones. The best trait I can say is they keep moving forward looking for talent. they did not find that in Bostic and IMO they did not get that in Shea.
-
With the tape on Shea, I dont get what NE saw. Yes he made tackles but they were not at the line of scrimmage. They were always 4 to 6 yards down the field. He was countless times taking himself out of lanes to make plays because of his instincts. He had a difficult time shedding blocks. I really think he is a good guy but not a good football player. Time will tell, but do not think I am wrong about him. Because a guy has decent size or good speed, does not make him a good football player.

I like this draft and have been reading some good things about Ward. There is so much information out there sometimes it is hard to figure out what is right. There are a few websites I like as far as how they rate players and have found them to be consistent as far as evaluation. Matt Miller Great Blue North Draft Report Draft countdown Greg Gabrial

The one thing you need in a Fox type offense is a good blocking TE and as much as we are talking about the same thing with pass catching ability, none of our TEs are good blockers. that is why we simply need to draft one.
-
There is a lot to like about that, but suspect pks 2 thru 4 probably go one round before. What rating did you use?
-
I would take either but in what round is the key. I think they both go in the 2nd round, and I would not like either at that point. I have read some bad press on Henry but think he will be a good NFL player. If they were both there in the 3rd, I would probably take Henry because we have Langford and think he could be a really good player. I think there is more depth at the RB position that could be go in later rounds.
-
He got a 3 year 12 mil contract with 3.5 mil guaranteed. That is basically a one year deal. Not let me see, Freeman at the same money or Shea? Man did we win that one.
-
I did not say it is a guarantee that we become a wining team, but that now we have some leadership that we didnt have before, the future looks bright. The 85 Bears did have some issues, but they had so much talent there was no stopping them. I did not say in 2 or 3 years they would be washed up, I meant that I think the plan is to be good in 2 to 3 years and I do not think they would have been here anyways. I do not think they would resigned either one with the thought of getting younger. Marshall will 33 and 34 . Bennett will be 31 and 32. No where did I say either of them are bad players. Lots of rich athletes have egos. They do not fit on a team with a coach like Fox. I am not saying, he is king, but I think he is no nonsense guy and does not put up with me, me guys. I think our future is bright with Fox , Pace and Fangio. I think we finally get a consistent winner and content every year for awhile. This could all fall to shit and in a few years I will be complaining about them to, but I remain optimistic we are headed in the right direction.

What's your point? We have enough draft picks to cover drafting a TE. I hope Housler plays well but if you go by his career , pretty average to not so good.
-
Miller is injury prone,Housler is just a body and we have no idea what we have in Lee. That is precisely why we need to draft another prospect. We have to keep moving forward. A prospect with the extra pick we got from NE would be a perfect fit for that spot.
-
They are not drafting a TE in the first round simply because the BPA scenario with apply and Hunter at best is a early 2 nd round pick.
-
First of all when you answer a question about whether we draft a TE, that means in the whole draft, so your answer would be yes. As far as addressing Jason's question, we will draft a TE. The only one of significant valve is Henry of which we would have to probably draft in the second round. So I do not think we draft one until the 4th round with that extra pick we got from NE. Projected in that round would be Nick Vannett/OS-Jarelle Adams/SC-Jake McGee/F-Tyler Higbee/WK Out of those I like Vannett and Higbee the best. Good size, good blockers and potential in the passing game. As far as free agency, I would chase Scott Chandler for a mediocre deal. He has some pass skills but is a good blocker. You figure him, with less time for Miller(save him from injuries) you can make the TE position competent. I think White is going to take off and with Jeffery, if Royal stays healthy, you only need average stats from your TE position.

They didnt keep Marshall so your premise does not apply. The problem with the team over the last few years is numerous but under Trestman he wasn't a leader. Our leader in the locker room was Marshall, unless this is an insane asylum probably not a good idea. If we still had leaders in the locker room like Urlacher or Krentz, none of this shit would have happened. You need team leaders or a Coach that commands the ship ,not egocentric players. The result of this is a losing team. We now have a coach that controls the chemistry of the team. That is a good thing, and not a bad thing because we dont like all of his decisions. In 2 or 3 years when we get good again, Marshall and Bennett would have been gone anyways, so we might as well have a youth injection and move forward.
-
I dont where blinders and agree with everything a team does.If you have been on here for a long time you will know I have a mouth on me when agreeing or disagreeing with a particular topic. In this case I disagree with your point of view, as animate as you are about it, the same animation I disagree against that premise. Life is not perfect and we need to just learn to go with the flow, if everybody had the same point of view about everything this would be a boring site. For me being a Bear fan, I try to understand the reasons for everything and try to stay positive about the future, I do not agree with all choices but in the end if we become a consistent winning football franchise, Im on board.
-
I would prefer to have them here, because I am not in the locker room and have to deal with the crab that those put forth. Unfortunately everything is just not that simple, your a good player so lets kiss your ass and keep you. Sitting in my seat, I dont get to see everything that occurs behind close doors and I do not agree with everything any regime does as far as the Bears go. I am a plumber and am working on a large job with 16 men there. Work should be a more pleasant experience than having to work with an asshole that keeps drama in the air all the time. There is one that always keeps tension in the forefront, and just because he is a good worker and smart as his job doesn't mean his attitude affect everybody working there. Maybe you are fortunate to not have to experience that in your job but I prefer a better attitude when having to spend so much time with some asshole. The plumber I am talking about just got sent away last monday and work is more enjoyable.
-
I can see if falling like that, I can buy into that being a good draft.
-
Marshall was a cancer, history proves he wears out his welcome even thou he puts up good stats. Bennett plain and simple would have held out for a new contract, he doesnt really care about his teammates, it is all about money to him. The final straw was when he publicly stated he didnt watch his teammates play when he sat out the Thanksgiving day game. He is a good player but when all you do is be a whiny little bitch because 5 mil that you have owed to you was enough last year but now he wants more money. If you love Marshall so much or Bennett, they play for other teams, go watch them.
