  1. Have no idea who this guy is but claims to know the free agent targets of the Bears. http://www.chatsports.com/chicago-bears/a/...s-Are-10-16-881
  2. Anybody know this name? He is a TE on our team. Annen is a ridiculous athlete, running a 4.41 at the school's pro day, also posting 25 bench press reps, a 34 inch vertical and 10 foot broad jump. 6'4" 247 He did 16-182-2 his senior year. Maybe he turns into a beast with some coaching.
  3. I swear he was on the Bears for like 5 years and I never seen him play
  4. I actually think Jennings will play better as a man CB, and Fuller could be a really good FS.
  5. I hope your right, its just as bad as we were last year it is hard to gauge the team having potential when we havent seen it all put together yet.
  6. I dont think any team does not have the desire to win all games, it is just the realism that it probably wont happen this year. If we go 8-8, we wont make the playoffs, but a drastic improvement. With so many questions and the worst defense this franchise has ever seen, how do you say (were going for it)? We tried to go for it last year, and free agency was a disaster. There is no way we fall in that situation again. I think we bring in 3 or 4 starters and none big splashes, and then have a good draft. Does that get us to 10-6? I highly doubt it. Name our talent on defense? Other than Young, who is injured, who played well last year? Paea wont be back in the 3-4 scheme. LBers, none, DBs-Fuller in the first month. Way to far to go in one year.
  7. I think this is what the Bears think. When Pace said (we will build through the draft) that is not a one year plan. If he has two good drafting classes, I think he thinks we compete in year 3. I dont think they think this is a tank year, but bring in some new players and see what shacks out. For Cutler, we have no other options, so I figure they plan to draft a QB in 2016. As far as Forte goes, they may choose to cut him, frees up quite a bit of money, but probably wait one more year until his contract is up. He will be 31, so dont think they have him in the future. As far as competing this year, if they deem we have more talent than it showed last year because of bad coaching, then they may decide to front this year, but hard to know what there evaluation is of our roster. The draft and free agency will go along way at telling what they think our chances are this year.
  8. Since I have been done with FF, I have been reading everything I can about draft, free agency, all Bears football rumors. SO FAR: I have read a lot about disruption from Marshall among the players, that his act gets old. From a talent standpoint, he needs to be here, but from a culture standpoint, does Foxys leadership control his antics on a leadership void team? I would say yes, but if we are rebuilding the team with a 3 year window(Pace said he will build team through draft), Marshall wont be here when we get good.(so I think they move on with him now and displace him with a speed WR(think Emanual Sanders type). I think most people think Long is our LT of the future, so if Pace believes that, why wouldnt they move him now while we rebuild the roster so in 3 years. Put Bushrod at RT wear he fits better and draft the guard of the future now? Garza wont be here when we get good, so A. they cut him, and grab a drafted player or B. bring back De La Puente(who graded out better) that could see be here in year 3 or Bring in a Montgomery who was with Fox in Denver( at 32 I doubt this move) If they think Carey is our power runner, then Vereen makes more sense, but I actually think he costs more money than Ingram. So with all of this in mind ( their plans are being based on being good in year 3 of the rebuild) we bring in as free agents: bring back De La Puente sign Orlando Franklin (can play either OG or OT) young and an anchor in our future sign Eddie Royal as a stop gap slot/speed WR sign Virgil Green who could develop into our starter when Bennetts contract is up sign Cris Culliver/CB will be our starter going forward. sign Ingram as our power runner for the future. IN free agency the only expensive signe is Franklin and fill several spots with the thought of who will be here in the future draft: If Pace goes by what he says as BPA(used Draft Tex draft information in this scenario) also (GBND big board) 1 Shane Ray- our OLB rush LB of the future 2 Arik Armstead/DE lack true 3/4 DEs on the roster 3 Anthony Harris/ SS best saftey on board that can play either position 4 Tyler Lockett/ WR we add another speed WR to the mix 6 Jeffery Whitaker/NT adds more beef up front 7 Adam Shead/OG BPA is applied in this spot So this what is looks like: Offense QB Cutler-Claussen-Fales RB Forte-Ingram-Cary WR Jeffery-Royal-Lockett-Wilson OL Long-Slausson-De La Puente-Franklin-Bushrod-Shead-Ola defense DL Houston-Ratliff-Armstead (Sutton-Ferguson-Whitaker-Allen(rush specialist)) OLB Ray-Young-Bass-Washington ILB Jones-Bostic-? ? CB Culliver-Jenning-Al Louis Jean-Mitchell S- Wild card ( we move Fuller to FS) Harris-Mundy-Vereen I think the rebuilding of the team will be to be good in year 3 We can not fill all spots in one offseason The draft is based on BPA with Draft Tek and GBND as input
  9. If we grab two OGs what do we do with Slauson? He is under contract.
  10. Your so right about being a mystery, we dont know what we will be running, who of own players that will valuable, it makes for the most intriguing offseason I have been associated with as a Bear fan. Love it. I think we agree a lot of the time, your smarter than I give you credit for, but I do think there will be no big contract FAs . We will see.
  11. I think that most of our draft picks will be on defense. Our DC will take what we get in the draft along with the pieces we have to form whatever defense the talent allows. I think they fit some pieces in from free agency. DL-With Houston and Young coming back from injuries it muddles the expectations of pieces we have that will fit in to the new scheme on defense. Bass and Washington will be tried at OLB so Houston, maybe Sutton are the only two DE types we have on the roster. We dont have the true NT type but think with Ratliff and Furgeson we have two that could play the role. Paea- was our best DL last year but doubt if he can play the DE spot in the 3-4, so dont think he will be back. conclusion: If Houston can comeback from injury, and Sutton and Ferguson can fit in the new scheme, the cupboard might not be as bear as it looks. Alex Carrington- He is a DT that has had some injury problems but is perfect fit to play the DE spot Jared Orlrick- He has a lot of upside and could fit in nicely at the DE spot BJ Raji- if we could motivate him he can play the NT quite well. LBs- Dont think SMC is an NFL football player , so I think he goes away. Jones and Bostic still have much to prove and hope with a new scheme they shine. Bass, Washington, and Young and get new life in a 3-4 scheme. Nate Irving- played for Fox and could be brought in at a fair price. conclusion: We have bodies at the position but hard to detemine if it works out in the new scheme.I think we draft a couple of LBs. CB- We have one bright star and even thou he is short Jennings is a physcial corner and can play the spot well. We will still need bodies. Culliver- Played for our DC and could be brought in to compete. Robinson- Played in NOs so maybe Pace can get him here on a song. T. Brown- Played in SF two years ago and played well so there is connect to our DC. conclusion: we need some better players and lots of depth at this position, think FA and the draft addresses the need. S- Ryan Munday and Vereen can be ok as our backups but we need a big increase in talent at this positon. R. Moore- played for Fox and has good upside, much better player than we have at that position. R Searcy- played well his first year as a starter and has good upside. conclusion we definitly add bodies here in free agency and in the draft. HELP Hopefully we have some talent that the last coaching staff couldnt get our of defense, plus we need mas player upgrade.
  12. I think those are good names. I will get to defense tomorrow. I think in the next two years will see a lot of turnover and cheaper players run threw to see if we can imitate Seahawks and get some later round gems and unexpected FAs.
  13. We have so many big contract FAs not worthy of what we paid them,I dont think they continue down that road again. I do think they bring in less expensive FAs to start to build the foundation you speak of. I think if we bring in Franklin/OT/OG to solidify the OL,add a Eddie Royal to give us some speed at WR. Mark Ingram will not be expensive and adds a power back to the mix. Add a backup QB, and backup TE and none of this will be big money.
  14. I probably didnt say it right but am not saying Forte will take a backseat, but think they bring in a power runner to complement what he does. I think they will be getting rid of Marshall, not because he cant still play, but think they come in here trying to set a new culture and with his distractions last year, they dont feel he fits in. (heard where many players are tired of his chaos) Garza will give you maybe one year, DLP could be here 4 to 5 years. I think Garza's play has dropped off significantly. Long to LT is a long shot guess, but to rebuild the team, he is our best option at playing LT in the future and dont think they wait until Bushrods contract is up.( odds are better he just moves to RT)
  15. Pace said he will rebuild through the draft, so I dont think there will be any big free agent signing, but plenty of lower end signing to help redo the roster. We have decent amount of cap space, but way to many spots to fill,to spend big. QBs-We will NOT be bringing in a QB to compete with Cutler, simply none available. Backups: Matt Moore has history with Fox Brian Hoyer has history with our new QB coach Jake Locker has history with our new QB coach conclusion: I think we bring in one of these 3 OR draft one. RBs-I think Kary gets a chance to show what he can do and keep in mind Gase and Fox had several RBs to carry the rock. Moreno -has a history with Fox and could provide us with some inside running to complement Forte. Ingram- if Pace thinks he could be the power runner with the look at the lead back roll in the future, we could see him here. Vereen- if they want to bring in a back to add share time with Forte to extend his career and his brother lobbies for him here. conclusion: I think they bring in Ingram and go more to the power game with Forte as the 3rd down back type, or put him in the slot on some plays. WRs- Jeffery is solid in the future,Marshall is not, I think he will probably be gone and they will bring in a speed WR either as a FA or as a draft pick. Eddy Royal- has ties to Denver and can be the deep threat as a 3rd WR Denarius Moore-has shown flashes but have been inconsistent. Has the speed and maybe will give him the chance to grow Andre Holmes- ditto as Moore conclusion: I think they draft the speed WR in the draft, but with so many holes to fill may grab one here. TE- We need a backup Virgil Green- has a history with Fox Jacob Tamme- can give you some pass catching ability for the back up spot OL- I think they move Long to LT, Bushrod to RT, cut Garza Brian De La Puente- I think they bring him back as the starting center Orlando Franklin- if they want to solidify the OL, they bring him in, wont be cheap but OGs dont usually demand big contracts. James Carpenter- Seahawks will have to spend money on Wilson, he may slip through the cracks conclusion: I think we definitely bring in some help here De La Puente takes over at center and a guard to take over Longs spot as he moves to LT. Other than a WR and maybe a late round QB prospect, I think the draft will be all defense, so here is where we will address free agency.
  16. I think he is a ILB, I think with a hybrid defense we will have this year 3-4,4-3 he fits better inside. Hopefully Bostic can play inside, with Young at one spot, draft our rush LB. PLenty in the upper part of draft.
  17. If we could only trade down a few spots, I would be ok with it, but getting out of the top 10 just isnt a good idea.I want to get a stud with our first pick and the farther back you go the less chance of that happening.
  18. He is going to take the BPA so we will get a stud, could be one of several. From what I am reading there is 11-12 plums in the draft and then it has a drop off.
  19. I agree, it alls sound unrealistic and stupid on Cleveland's part.
  20. He wont make it to 7 for the same reason you want him, a stud
  21. A good player, even out of position would show much more than he has. Its not all because he is out of position, I think he is not a NFL football player .
  22. I hate to say it, but dont think SMC will probably be around. His ship has been out to sea and dont see it coming back. Sometimes high picks dont work out. I hope Im wrong.
  23. read this somewhere and gives some info on Fangio and how it fits. Call it what you will but Fangio's defense is not a straightforward vanilla 3-4. His NT still plays a one gap shade position which actually does fit a guy like Stephen Paea and they can also use Ratliff in that.e role. Fangio plays his other DT as a 3 tech similar to a one gap 4-3 so Sutton is not a waste and Paea and Ratliff can also play that position. If Houston recovers from his injury and starts playing heads up ball again if he can add back 10-15 lbs he can play the RDE spot Justin Smith plays in SF which is where Houston played in Oakland and possibly rotate with Jared Allen there provided Allen can handle that assignment. If not they may play him as a stand up DE and Ego Ferguson may play at that DE spot or as a two tech NT. Get Willie Young back as a stand up DE/OLB like Aldon Smith and add another OLB/DE from the draft like Shane Ray or from FA or maybe guys like Washington or Bass step up and you have the makings of a DL that can show both 4-3 and 3-4 looks. The bigger need is to find a true MLB and add at least one more 3-4 type ILB. I'm still thinking the best place for Shea McClellin is an always has been at MLB or ILB in a 3-4. He has great speed and range and by blitzing him through the A gaps he becomes a more affective pass rusher than he ever been from the edge where often gets out of position and fails to seal the edge or loses contain. The young guy Christian Jones may be do better on the edge or possibly in the middle as a 3-4 ILB. Bostic is a failure as a 4-3 MLB but may be able to handle it in a 3-4 with Jones playing OLB on the weak side. The defense needs to fill some gaps but overall there should be enough talent there to mold a hybrid defense out of that's far less predictable and can attack the way Pace, Fox and Fangio would like to see it done. It's all about getting players in the right positions and getting them playing downhill again. That didn't happen with Tucker. They seemed confused, chaotic, and tentative and played on their heels not on their toes. They weren't the attackers they were the defenders and it was like a perpetual prevent defense.
  24. Briggs should never be in the thought process, its time to go young and look to the future, he doesnt bring leadership, and his skills have eroded. time to move on. With our LBs all we have is ? marks, we have to draft a rush LB, the coaching staff will decide to do that. Hopefully the new coaches find the valve in some of remaining LBs, but it is still to be shown of the field.
  25. totally agree, the only opinions that count are our new leaders, trust in them until they prove to not be deserving of their trust. looking good so far
