As much has we like many players, the teams will be going by their slotting of the value of the players available. I have been paying attention to many sites and with that, these observations. Arden Key OLB ( he is the second rated pass rusher on most sites after Chubb. Chubb wont be there but will be the only pass rusher rated in the top 10) Harold Landry OLB ( he is ranked all over the first round but would be safe to say he will be in the 10-20 value range of all players) Conner Williams LT (he is all over the board by draft sites, as high as the top 10 to early third round, so I will rate him a late first or early 2nd rounder at this time) Orlando Brown OT (he is usually consider as the 3rd best OT after McGlinchey and Williams but is shown first and second rounds, I will value him late first round or early second) Mike McGlinchey OT ( he is generally considered the best tackle, some top 10 to late first round, so will give him a 10 to 15 rating) Calvin Ridley WR ( he has been mostly taken late first or early second, and some other WRs rated higher, so will rate him a 20 to 30 valued player) So by everything I have seen up to this point, I would say at 8 if we keep the pick, Arden Key has the most value and second would be McGlinchey as the second highest rated) If we trade back, Landry and Fellin comes into play in the middle of the draft, or one of the OTs. I would take Key in the first and still be able to grab a good OT in the early 2nd. Maybe Brown or more likely Okarfor or Miller. Maybe a trade down in the second to get a third and still be able to get a good OT. Then with the third grab a WR with a deep class of WRs.

Pace must have thought this out well, because his first interview is with Wilks and satisfy the Rooney Rule. I think the prime situation for me would be is to hire Toub as the HC, bring Fangio back as the AHC/ DC and hire DeFlippio as the OC. I realize that is a pipe dream but hey, why not.
-
In several draft sites I have looked at so far, Chubb and Key are the only 2 early round pass rushers rated in the top 10.
-
There are only a few top end pass rushers in this draft and will have to draft them at the top of the round. I want a OT but there are possibly 6 and some will slip in the second round, so grab our OT then. WRs are to risky to take that high (White) so grab in the later rounds or with a trade down.

All they will do is take a draft pick away, they will never force GB to release their star.

For me, AZ mentioned that Murphy was a free agent this year, I would make a run on him, a couple of WRs and draft Quentin Nelson (rated a top 5 player) in the first and Chukwuma Okorafor/OT in the second and then in the fourth grab a WR and CB. Keep Nelson and let Sitton go, and use his money to tie up 2 WRs and Trent Murphy at OLB. So LT (the very average Leno) LG Q. Nelson (a beast) OC Whitehair, RG Long (groom Morgan to replace him in a couple of years)RT Chukwuma Okorafor (a huge man) Then the Oline will be fix with some young guys and help both the protection and the running game.

Ripley isnt rated that high on the overall board, most I have seen is late first round but I seen one draft where 3 OTs were drafted in the first 6 picks. Key will probably the second guy off the board after Chubb as far as pass rushers,. If there is a run on QB then Key should be there.

I looked at over the cap website and this is what it shows for his contract. 4.5 would be the cap saving not the cap hit Current Contract Year Age Base Salary (Guaranteed) Bonuses Cap Number Cap % Dead Money & Cap Savings Prorated Roster Workout Other 2016 31 $800,000 $3,100,000 $1,566,668 $2,300,000 $50,000 $0 $4,716,668 3.0% 2017 32 $1,000,000 $2,200,000 $900,000 $2,200,000 $0 $0 $4,100,000 2.5% $4,000,000 $100,000 2018 33 $3,500,000 $900,000 $1,000,000 $0 $0 $5,400,000 3.0% $900,000 $4,500,000 Total $5,300,000 $3,366,668 $5,500,000 $50,000 $0 $14,216,668 5.4 mil is what he would be paid if left on the roster

As I look at contracts, Pace definitely makes mistakes but the one thing he does is front load contracts, everyone that didnt live up to expectations has a cheap out. I think we may bring Houston back and Jones. Jones can play either and is a valuable backup. I suspect it depends on who our DC is next year, hopefully its Fangio, but no one knows. One player that did not pan out is Junior Galette in Wash, I wonder if we can bring him in cheap and revive his career. He was very productive in NO.

Actually the Rams arent playing their stars, so probable
-
He was our best OLineman this year. Long? Massie gone, have to bring him back and groom Morgan to take his place in 2019.
-
We dont have a third round pick, two fourths thou
-
I think we need to resign Jones and Houston and maybe Acho, we need to move on from McPhee and draft one with one of our first two picks.
-
I think he projects to the second round right now that would be a good option at that point of the draft. I also like Celin Ferrel, hw will be top 15, so he will have to be drafted in the first round.
-
First of all, I think Sims has value in a system that is QB friendly. Yes he is over paid, but look at the injuries at that position, we going into next year with Shaheen and who? Also we need to resign our leading tackler this year, Christian Jones, so valuable filling in at both ILB and OLB.
-
He show a little his rookie year and regressed the next two and last year played well. You take a chance on any player going forward but I think he is worth the risk.
-
I agree, we have a wait on see on most, but for me in 3 years you need at least 12 players that will be above average and a few stars. We both agree on 8, I think the next group should net us the extra 4.
-
I think we should resign K. Fuller . It is an area of need and if we go out and sign a high level vet, it will cost us an average of 13 mil based on last years signing. So is Fuller worth, 10 to 11 mil a year at 5 years with 30 mil guaranteed ? I think we have to , you figure we draft one high and at least need a young stable vet going forward. The Marcus Cooper signing was thought to be a ascending player, but fell of the edge. Prince played well but was not outstanding, so I think we keep one and Fuller is 3 years younger.
-
I am projecting his growth from year 2 going forward. His has shown flashes.

With all the criticize Pace has gotten lately, I still think he has given us our core for the future. Although his first round picks have had questions due to injuries, he has drafted well outside of that round. Here is my list of who I think our core will be going forward. (not in any particular order)(draft and FAs) Trubisky Shaheen Whitehair Howard Cohen Floyd Hicks Goldman Trevathan (2018 he will be 28) Bullard (has taken a step forward this year and will have a breakout season next year) N. Kwiat ( has grown as a pass defender) with Freeman gone will take over at one of the spots at ILB Amos (is one of the highest rated Ss this year on PFF) Jackson RRH ( has shown improvement from year 1 to year 2 and I predict will become a valuable 3T going forward) Bryce Callahan ( he has played well minus the injuries) Merideth ( injuries has derailed his development but think he will be a solid #2 WR going forward) I also think Sims will be better used next year and will show more value . Going forward the key to the list is blue chip players. Mine are MT, Floyd, Whitehair, Hicks, Howard, and Jackson) So lets see your list or criticism on my mine. Conclusion : I think going forward we will be in really good shape.

He is actually making less than Massie. Massie made a little over 6 mil this year, Wagner made 5.9 Next year Massie can be cut with a .5 mil dead money but his contract calls for 6.2 mil. , Wagners will be 5.9 The next 3 years Wagner will be making 11.5 a year, This will be high, but if he plays at a pro bowl level, that would have been acceptable in my opinion. He is 28 right now, so will not be over the hill. Also, in two years, i am sure the salary will be higher for a pro bowl level type RT than this year. His last year has an out of 2.8 mil so if his play dropped off would have been an acceptable out. I think that would have been an acceptable signing considering the plans to draft a QB this year. It would have solidified the line considering the injury problems at the guard position. I think by the design of the contract, that Pace would have front loaded the contract so by the third year we could have had an out. I would say the overall money would have been similar but the G. money was the difference. This year he is rated the 4th best RT by PFF if that trips your trigger. I think this would have been a good signing. In comparison to Lenos contract, the last three years of his contract will be paying him a little less than 2 mil a year, for a very average LT. The difference is we Pace has an out after 2018.

To all of you that miss A. Jeffery, look at his numbers this year: Alshon Jeffery 56 118 781 13.9 9 On a team with so many injuries and bad players,. we definitely could have used him but his numbers are pedestrian other than the TDs. those numbers are what good #2s get in the league. I will give him cudos for the 9 TDs but he was not worth a big contract. On a team that is lined up average WRs he wasnt even the best receiver on his team, a TE was. He was third in receptions. Thanks to everybody that is in this league, I am in several leagues every year, and this is one of the most competitive . Out of 5 leagues, I usually win one, am in the playoffs in 3. I wish you were all were not as good at it, but it keeps me on my toes.
-
I agree, I think most of your good franchises have stability at the top. NE, GB, Pitts. You cant keep changing regimes every three years and turn into a winner. They will let this play out. Pace has made some dump decisions, K, Glennon, the injured players is out of his control. He also has built a core for the future going forward. MT is the future to live or die with. If we have a top 10 QB for the next 10 years, everybody will win, it is just not something you can judge in one year, check back in 2020.

I think that works minus the 2019 pick, at 9 it just doesnt carry as much value as the top of the draft.
