He will be brought in for a workout at Halas Hall. Does anybody remember if the players we brought in last year were any we actually drafted?
-
Just heard on the score that Jordan Lynch has a meeting set up with the Bears this month. There will be a lot of pre draft meetings, so here is a spot to let us know who were looking at.

He has stated a few kind words, but usually he's a tool. You can be kissy face with his poster, Im not interested.

Interesting article on who the Bears will draft
Stinger226 replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
I agree but in a ideal situation we should make those two our first two picks, but if you want an impact player you have to take BPA other than QB and DE, I would have to say everything else is open. An OT if one of the top 3 drop, but ideally not OL in the first. -

It always fascinates me what writers(obviously not from Chicago) view the Bears situation. For the same reason he states we need to draft a CB, he states were ok at DT. I think if we were done with adding players we would get by at DT. With the 3 DTs you have Houston that will play inside and Izzy will see snaps there, but it is as glaring a need as any other position on the team. Drafting a guard high is ridiculous, we have two prime starters and a young backup plus Boggs can play OG. The idea of drafting another OL that could eventually play center isnt a bad idea but that will never happen before the 4th round. Our first round pick needs to be a starter from day one, at DT, be in a rotation. At CB, would have to push for at least nickel back starter time. We need to add a DT,CB,S,and MLB in the first 4 rounds. DT is a little deeper if we waiter until the 3rd round there would still be a few players left that could possibly see playing time if we went CB and S with the first two picks. Anthony Johnson-Jones-Rejid-Ferguson-Uko-Coleman. I think CB has some depth but safety after the first two rounds will thin out drastically. So the first two rounds should be DT-S in either order, and then a CB in the third. -
This an interesting take on who the Bears draft. It basically states expect the unexpected and that is what is going to happen. A surprise in store for us in the first round. http://www.chatsports.com/chicago-bears/a/...hange-2-9593154

I think the Bears offered Urlacher two mil, and they werent trying to negotiate with him. We can argue what should have happened but the rest of the NFL agreed with his valve and that's why he retired.Sometime its time and it was his time to leave. They see valve in Tillman so they have a greater valve assessed to him and he's back here because he has loyality to the organisation and realized that was the best thing to do.We dont know for sure but after visiting other teams he came back, I totally think he accepted the offer they made him and didnt negotiate. Urlacher was always about himself, Peanut is a different type of person and has class.
-
The problem with his size is not that he wouldnt be a playmaker but more of the durability issue.People rarely have long careers at saftey when undersized, so it just is a higher risk factor.
-
I think Melton was trying to get a 6 to 8 mil a year deal and the Bears had him go hunting with the offer to match his deal, but Melton has a big ego so what transpired is what happened. I think Urlacher would not have been that good if he played, and it seems that no one in the NFL was interested so the Bears did the right thing and let him walk.

All of that

Im all in on Brown, but his injury screwed me in a few fantasy leagues last year.
-
Tillman came back and played for what they offered him, they didnt have to negotiate with him. If I look for a job, they tell what the job pays, I cant go to them and say I want x number of dollars you have to negotiate with me. They made an offer and Brian wanted more so they said goodbye, the Bears did what any business would do establish a valve for a product and if they cant buy that product at that price go another direction.Melton, they told to go get some offers and come back, they had a figure in mind, he's the one that took and didnt bring back to see what the Bears would do. Melton got paid 8.6 mil for a couple of games but the crybaby thinks he's worth more than he is so he cries foul, screw him.

Actually we could bring in many at a vet min. The cap is established by the top 51 salaries and anything at the low end wouldnt even count.
-
I hate to bring this up , but I think Conte might get some of his swagger back this year. He played well enough in 2012 to say he was an up and comer but so bad in 2013 we forgot about the year before. i agree with a better front 7 the back will look better, but I think S is a must for a potential starter. It was that bad last year.

There will still be some bodies out there that can help us. We still have a lot of roster spots to fill. I would like Britton back,we know what were getting from him. We will fill some spots on draft day, but your lucky if 3 or 4 could contribute the first year.
-
I always view you, to like nobody, but of course that's not true. You do like some players and I should take a more realistic approach to your views.
-
We need a swing tackle and Britton is looking for more than a one year at a min. I hope he comes back he was useful. We also need a backup at RB-another WR(probably on the roster), and a backup QB. Some of these needs will be filled in the draft then I think the rest will be vet min. contracts after the draft. After the draft people get cut, players still hand around from FAgency. We will be fine.

I am trying to be conventional with my avatars. I fear that doesnt last long.

There are a few FAs out there that havent been signed and I cant figure out why? help me out Brian De LA Puente/C-he has played at a high level for two years and no interest. Having ties to Kromer ,wouldnt mind seeing him here. Eric Winston/RT- I always remember him as being a good player and at 30 not over the hill. Owen Daniels/TE- not sure he is done at age 31 but is a good pass catching TE Josh Freeman/QB- I know he is a tool, but actually showed some talent a couple of years ago and nobody is offering him a vet min? Andre Brown/RB- I know he was injured last year but came back and played well. Wouldnt mind him as a backup on the Bears.

He was my favorite Bear, but he has a shitty attitude. I will relish his archives as a player, I think loyalty goes both ways, they paid him well putting him as the face of the Bears made him a lot of money. It comes down to him, he's a money grub, and I dont think thats right. I am a Bear fan first then an Urlacher fan, and when he gets his #54 retired I will be right there. He is being a tool and I am expressing my opinion. There is right and wrong I am thinking he is wrong.
-
There are a lot of players who dont play well there first year, so I understand his support for his first round pick. The facts will come to light this year. He will be a bust as a 1st round pick, he missed on that one.
-
Spot on with that call.
-
I really dont understand your point on this, I dont think its a matter who's right or wrong. When its a players time to go, this is usually the result of it. He thinks he could still play, and the Bears dont see valve in him and his skill set. Players have egos and it is hard to let go. Brian was my favorite player but I seen his skills erode due to injuries and age. I dont look at football thru rose colored glasses. I a huge Bears fan and want the team the best it can be.I think it was Brians time to go, the rest of the NFL agreed with the Bears, so there is no conclusion to this argument. For me, Url is crying because of money. They made him an offer, and he could have played for one more year.(good or bad), but the whiny little bitch was insulted because they didnt offer him more money. He was a good football player and a good teammate but he sucked when it came to the fans. His loyalty is measured by money. Screw him.

I think Ford is going to be a surprise as a backup this year and just added a 3rd backup for gadget plays. I think Thomas could also line up as a slot WR in some formations.

Here is my shot at a post FAgency draft. I did the Fanspeak thing but injected a trade. we trade down with SF our first for an extra 2nd,3rd and 7th. 1st-Calvin Pryor/FS- because we need to upgrade the position. 2nd a-Stephen Tuitt/DT-DE- big and versatile in Emery's wheelhouse 2nd b-Stanley Jean-Baptiste/CB- a big CB to develop 3rd a- Christan Jones/MLB- good valve here in a need position 3rd b-Jimmy Garoppolo/QB- good prospect 4th- C.J. Fiedorowicz/TE- we add a backup for two TE sets 5th-DE'Anthony Thomas/RB- speed to a backup RB and a slot WR 6th-Russle Bodine.OC- someone to groom for Garza job 6ht-Marques Huff/-S- speed and productive player 7th-Ricardo Allen/CB- added depth
