  1. NFL Mock draft website did a thumbnail on Bears picks. 1-Ealy/DE 2-Quarles/DT 3-Jean Baptiste/CB 4-Brooks/FS 5-Larsen/OC 6-Urban/DT 6-Neal/RB I would be happy if we got that draft. Also they had a draft with trades. They had us trade with the Jets and got 14th pick for 18th pick and pick 80 and a 7th rounder. 18-Jernigan/DT 51-Bucannon/SS 80-Quarles/DT 82-Skov/MLB They had an article for FAs and they had us getting Clinton McDonald/DT/Seahawks. He is a good player.
  2. We need to find an impact defensive player in the first round and two starters for the defense in the 2nd and 3rd round. Later rounds could find us a OC to groom to take Garzas place.
  3. I think that draft pick would be there if we dont resign Melton, then he would take his place.
  4. I think instead of having the exact picks teams has, it is more about identifying the top 32 players and some are pretty accurate with that.
  5. We only have two drafts to judge by but what we do know. He sees the same team we do and has addressed weaknesses. Grant you, bad miss on the first year , kudos to last year's first round draft. He like athletes. So the next guy will be all of that. He addressed WR and TE bringing us Marshall and Bennett, and drafting Jeffery, so I think he attacks the fixing of the defense the same way. First round grades on defensive players. I used Rob Rangs big board from NFL Draft Scout for this scenario. 1-Clowney/DE 4-Mack/OLB 7-Barr/OLB 9-Mosley/ILB 11-Denard/CB 14-Tuitt/DE 19-Ford/DE-OLB 21-Gilbert/CB 22-Hageman/DE 23-Jernigan/DT 24-Shazier/OLB 25-Ealy/DE 26-Pryor/S 27-Verrett 28-Ha Ha/S 30-Donald 31-Roberson/CB 32-Van Noy/OLB So I think our choice will be one of the above. I think 1-4-7 will be gone so our choice will be addressed out the most athletic of the rest of the first round. If we go by highest rated and athletic that would be Mosley-Denard-Tuitt-Gilbert-Hageman I think in FAgency he will bring back Melton,Wooten,Ratcliff, Bowman,DJ Williams and will cut Peppers I also think that he could address DE in FAgency so that would change all assumptions and may just go with highest rated defensive player which would be Mosley. So for our most glaring needs will probably be Truitt or Hageman. I think he will address pass rush that would have the most impact so: Truitt/Hageman/ and throw in Ealy, these will be one of our first picks. All are physical specimens, and address our pass rush, which will be a priority to Phil. If he surprises us and he capable of that, possibly Donald or Pryor would fill that bill.
  6. If you look at how the draft breaks down, you have a better chance of getting a good DT in the second round than you do a impact DE. If we figure on grabbing a 3-T type tackle past the first round, I figure Donald and Jernigan will go in first round. Sutton, Quarles,Easley,Johnson, Reid all fit that profile to play the 3-T After the top 3 DEs go, Clowney,Tuitt and Ealy it drops off quite a bit. Productive college DEs I like are Murphy, Smith, Jeffcoat, and Crichton. Not sure of who would be 2nd round picks.
  7. Turnovers is probably the one stat that consistently matters in a game.Whoever wins the TO battle usually wins the game.
  8. I read an article where the pre combine mock drafts which included Kiper and McShays drafts, are right .025 %. So much for experts.
  9. Its seems so easy for some to divide there loyalty. For me Im stuck on Bears.
  10. The point I was trying to make was, if he cost 8 mil. we wont be chasing him. I agree when it comes to productive players, that should count more. Jernigan-54-10 and 1/2-4.5.............6-2 292-5.00 Donald-59-28 and a 1/2-11.............6-1 288-5.00 Ill take the productive guy over the potenial.
  11. Former NFL scouts with draft sites GBND Draft Countdown Matt Miller writes for Bleacher Report Our Lads has good information on it.
  12. I would have no problem if we got him. He may have the biggest impact of any DT in this years draft. Why not us.
  13. I only had my 4th rounder as a rotation guy. I was bringing in Bennett/Houston and getting Wooten back as my starters. They have the ability to gain more in cap space, but if you figure they bring back McCown(1.5) and extend Marshall, that money will be coming out of the cap also. So I am not optimistic we will be big spenders in FA. If Whitner(and I like him) costs that much, he wont be coming here. Thats Byrd and Ward type money.
  14. I have been plumbing for 44 years, but went to school for the other. With me you get both. Your the only person on here that mentioned Lovie, just didnt think after all the crap Lovie kept giving us, he would ever be mentioned again, but you did. The only way to take that statement is you wish Lovie was still here. Your entitled to your opinion, my point was with all the Bear fans on here, no one else feels that way.Just thought we were way past that and look for the future with optimism, instead of dragging in old memories of the past.
  15. He will have an improved defense but he is a power tripper and he will always push for defense and be loyal to bad players. He was a good coach, but I want someone that can take us back to a SuperBowl, Lovie proved he couldnt do that on a regular basis, ditto, he is now some where else. I dont know if Trestman will end up getting us back to a SuperBowl and actually win one, but I do know I was more interested in what he had to offer than the same old crap Lovie kept giving us. Poor game day decisions, treated the public like everybody was an idiot. and loyal to bad players. If he was still here our defense would have been a little better, but offense what have been more of the same.
  16. Lets put the bashing down and just go with your original thought. WHO ON HERE IS STILL WANTING LOVIE TO BE HERE?
  17. I like the names you compiled. In all the mock drafts Ive looked at Truitt is never at our spot in the second round.(the only mocks I give kudos too are former scouts) Most of the mocks didnt have Baptiste making it to our 3rd pick. I would love to get Whitner but dont see him going cheap enough to fit our cap space. It would be great if all of this happened. You werent comfortable having a 4th round player starting but you did that with Boston.
  18. Your right about all of that. I made a comment about what I thought was stupid in saying he thought we should still have Lovie. I didnt say he was stupid. He is the one that wanted to lay out the insults. That is the only way he knows how to address criticism. I have said some lame things on here and have took heat for it. I dont have a problem with it, just part of leaving opinions. My problem is I say what I think. I praise people for good comments and smart off when I dont like something they say. Many people on here have strong opinions about stuff and that is what makes this site a well visited place. Commenting on something I disagree with is just part of all of this, I dont have malice in my comments, just comes out negative sometimes. Sorry for that.
  19. I agree in a 3-4 he would be a ILB but the best two defenses in the league last year were 4-3 defenses. SF runs a hybid 3-4 so I am not thinking we will be lining in a 3-4 that much of a time. Bostic wont be in the middle this year in the 4-3. I suspect we have Bostic,?? and Briggs as our 3 LBs this year. SMC doesnt start in my scenario .
  20. I just noticed you didnt list a group of FAs when you listed your draft, but I will do that in my case. I think we release Peppers, Weems,Bush,Bennett, Podlesh that frees up 16 mil in space. I think we resign Bowman,Melton(on an incentive deal),Ratliff, and Wooten.( I dont think he gets alot of attention on the FA market, comes back cheap) We bring in Bennett or Lamar Houston to be a DE. That is our only large contract. We bring back Cory Graham/CB---he has played well for the Ravens and his nemesis Lovie is gone. We bring in Stevie Brown/S-- had a great year in 2012 and had injuries last year. someone we can get reasonable We bring in Johnathan Vilma/MLB--backs up the rookie and adds some sting to the defense DEs- Houston/Bennett,Wooten,Bass, Martin DTs-Melton,Ratcliff,Jones, Paea LBs-Mosley,Vilma,Bostic, Green, SMC CBs-Jennings,Bowman,Graham,Hampton,Frey Ss-Conte,Brown,Ladler,Bucannon I think that will be a better defense than last year. Show me what you got.
  21. When you have something good to say, I gladly give you kudos, but when you say something stupid, I comment on that too, sorry, you cant keep this from being personal, I majored in Psychology when I went to college and understand your problem. If you would like to talk sometime off the website, I can help. Just let me know.
  22. I think Lovie was a good coach, but there is only so long you can go with missing the playoffs before we needed a new injection of blood in the organization. No way in hell they have a better record than we do next year. Lovie doesnt walk on water even if the rivers of Alaska are frozen now. The defense was ready to fall no matter who was steering the ship. Between age and injuries, we were doomed defensively. Lovie went 5-11 his first year after following Jaurons 7-9 season. I not sure you can judge a coach by his first year or we would have fired lovie after his first year.I dont know if Trestman will end up being a better coach but sure wont judge him by one year. If your going to use the word asinine, the least you can learn to spell it right, but then its you, so I shouldnt expect that much out of you. By the way I have been to Alaska and its a wonderful place.
  23. Ok that sounds fair, but may I add, lets dont say lets sign Byrd. and Bennett,. and Hardy. That would never happen. Be realistic is our FAs we sign. I think we may get one at a large contract, but the rest will be low pay contracts.
  24. You keep using those big words, someone is mistakenly going to think your smarter than you really are. You make negative comments all the time, but when you say something stupid, its like your immune to other peoples opinions. There are a lot of smart people on this website and I would bet there isnt two other people that would say something that stupid.( I will give you the fact someone may agree with you) Your one of the first people to throw your two cents in when someone says something stupid, but you cant take the heat when you do it, climb back in your igloo, and pray for 6 more months of winter. Alaska is a good place for you.
  25. Name our starting MLB for this year? There isnt one on the roster. When the GM tells you there moving somebody outside,I would say he has a valved opinion.
