You should had said something before he took the TB job, now we cant bring him back. Oh dammm We just cant get away from somebody saying something stupid.
-
I think June 1 is also the day they have to meet there cap restraints, so why wouldnt they wait to be able to spread his dead money over two years.
-
Right on with every thing you said.

Stats are just a tool for judging someone, the eye test adds to it too. I think he played ok, but not great. We judge the offensive line and the fact is they were average at best, but because we were so terrible 2 years ago it makes them look good. They were average, ranked around 20 if you look at stats. That is great improvement for us and with the two rookies improving it will be better next year. We will find a replacement for Garza, hopefully this year, but let him learn for a year and get some coaching and gain in stength and a year from now Garza can give his spot to a new guy.
-
He had a stretch of bad games but finished the season on a good note. In the beginning of the year he was trying to bring along two rookies and then they started to get it and his play improved. Garza is here, line leader and his name isnt Jamarcus Webb, so all is good.

That was it for me too. Me and a friend were in Cabo San Lucas and they had a sports book down from the bar we were at. We put 20 down on Hester to be the first player to score a TD. It was 35-1 odds. We make 700 on one play, Bears are winning, its 80 degrees out and lots of beautiful women to look at. Then the rest of the game played out and oh well, made 350.00

I have seen him drafted by us in the 5th round on several mock drafts. At first I thought it was stupid, but the more I read the more it sounded like a good idea.

Here is some information on if we restructed Peppers contract and the ramifications of those actions. Also if we cut him. @mikecwright: Glad you asked this question, and my first inclination would be to say, yes, he’d absolutely redo it. But ultimately, it will come down to how the Bears go about restructuring the contract. I can’t think of too many players that won’t take a lump-sum payment in millions up front, which is why I think Peppers would do it. For instance, the Bears could take Peppers’ $13.9 million base salary, reduce it to his veteran minimum of $955,000, and then pay the balance of the $12.945 million in a signing bonus. That would make Peppers’ cap number $11.711 million, which results in a cap savings of $6.472 million. But as usual with these types of situations, the bill always comes due at some point. So with the restructure I just explained above, Peppers’ cap number would swell in 2015 to $27.156 million. Now, if the Bears did that restructure and decided to cut him in 2015, his dead money would amount to $10.656 million, which is still $10.028 million less than his current cap charge of $20.683 million for 2015. Another option, I guess, would be to cut Peppers this year and use the post-June 1 designation (the designation allows the team to spread out the cap hit for two years), which would result in dead money of $4.183 million in 2014 and $4.183 million in 2015; which results in a respective savings of $14 million and $16.5 million. I was reading some interesting info on Garza. Garza graded out as the second best lineman on the team this year. He is a team leader and has been relatively healthy. I was wanting to move on from him, but have changed my mind and want him for one more year. We still need to add a eventual replacement, maybe find someone in the later rounds.
-
Your right about the coaches but it will depend on the personal we are able to get. I read a story about trying to pattern the defense after the Seahawks and there base is a 4-3
-
I think if they resign him, he will do whatever they ask him to do. It will depend on what else happens in FAgency and then the draft.I think if they wanted him, he would already be signed. I think they are worried about giving him money and then not get full valve because of injuries. I would love Byrd or Ward, but I think they both are priced out of our range.Im throwing in for Donte Witner, might be able to get a little cheaper and can play at a high level. If SF decides they want him back, then Stevie Brown, had a great year in 2012.
-
I think both are team leader types that we desperately need. I think both will be impact players.
-
We are assuming a lot here since the fact is we dont know who our personal will be. Your right about switching players, but we still dont have Bennett(of which I am all in on) and drafting Ealy. What we have Peppers(color him gone) Even if we restructure his contract, if will free up maybe 4 to 5 mil, that wont get us Bennett. He will be paid to much and then we have to worry about dead money two years from now to. What we have Paea-He is a decent rotational player but has not been special. Maybe a NT in a 3-4,but that is a big maybe. SCM- OLB and still not sure of what to expect Washington-Bass --- they will be OLBers in a 3-4. The facts are if Peppers is cut all we have is Paea, kinda hard to figure out anything we will do until we get some players to see where it is going. There are several FAs that could play in both schemes, but we have cap issues and I only see one medium signing and several veteran minimums. We have some potential room to play with , with the contracts we signed, but its tough to guess who and what scheme we will go for. They is rumor that they want to bring back Melton, and Ratcliff, but that will only be at our prices so that is no guarantee. So lots of ???????????????????????????????????
-
I am going to choose a player that we can get. I think we take a shot on Stevie Brown/FS last played with the Giants. He was injured this year but in 2012 had 11 PDs and 8 interceptions in 11 game starts. He is young and can be gotten for a cheap price. I can pick a more notable name but choose to pick a player on the rise we can get at a cheap price.

There going to move Bostic to the outside, so we still need to fill the MLB spot. I think when we go to a 3-4 SMC will come in but not be in on 4-3 schemes. Maybe we bring back D. J. Williams. I think Bostic will be the SLB and Briggs moves inside on 3-4 schemes. The hybrid part of the defense will be when SCM comes in. Melton fits the size of a DE in a 3-4, but is not good when is tied up by blockers and 3-4 ends need to occupy lineman, to have an effective defense. Ratliff can be the NT but need a true NT to be rotational with him. Bennett if we get him is more the size of a OLB in a 3-4 than a 3-4 end. It is really going to be tuff to bounce back and forth with the players we have and assume they will get. It will not be a true 3-4, we will bring in SCM and a guy we dont have to play NT and use Ratliff and Melton to play end in the 3-4.
-
If he turned down a big contract, why is he willing to play here, we wont be offering him lots of money? If he doesnt like playing NT in the 3-4 why will he come here, with us probably using that scheme for some of our defense? I think he is a good player, but not an all pro type DT. If we give anyone a decent amount of money, it will be someone that has some stats to back him up as a pass rusher. B. J. has 10 and 1/2 sacks in 5 years.
-
I agree on the priority, DT or DE, but other than Clowney, who is a sure thing to be a diffenence maker? maybe there are a few who after a couple of years can have an impact. Ealy might be that player, or Donald inside? I think we try to bring back Melton on an incentive laded contract, and also Ratcliff, which probably means we are in more need of a DE. If Ealy is that pick, I would be quite ok with it, but where does our leadership on defense come from? Briggs surely isnt it, and Peanut probably will be gone. Mosley could become our team leader improve the defense and build from there. I think the first round will be our shot at a playmaker, who is that person? HaHa probably is at a FS spot, and that fills a weakness. Gilbert might be a very good CB and a return man, but how many CBs lead a team. My opinion might change as we go forward, but am thinking he will have the most impact on our defense his first year. Make the case for a DLineman and I will be all in on that.
-
As pressing as our D line needs are, I think we need a play maker on defense. Between FAgency and the rest of the draft, I think we can do that even if we draft him with our first round. Nix? he has some injury issues and I think that makes that a risky pick. Hageman is a brute, but is he a 8 to 10 sack player in the middle? His numbers werent special at Minn. Truit is big and versatile but is he a difference maker? Donald, he looks like he can be special, but at 6.07' 285 lbs, kinda smallish for a DT. Is he a differentence maker. My main reason for getting on C.J.s bandwagon is he is a true leader, and we desperately need that besides his football traits.
-
Were slow at work right now and I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I have been checking out the draft with my free time. We need 2 safeties, 2 DEs, and 2 DTs,1 CB and I think the way the draft will fall that the best defensive player on the board will be: C.J. Mosley/MLB/Ala He is consistently rated in the top 10 players in the draft and is almost always there when we draft. I think we should take him because he will have a huge impact on our defense in the first year. He is a physical specimen, although a light 238. but has great instincts. He was the team leader on defense for the last 3 years, and we desperately need that. We need to be strong up the middle and he can do that. I think..........he will have a huge impact on what ever team he goes to. (think Luke Kuechly) Luke is 6-3 235, the 4th leading tackler in the league. Almost all the mock drafts I look at have him available, and on the bandwagon to make him our first pick.
-
I personally dont want to retain him, we cant get any worse than we were last year, and think we need to have a fresh start to our whole defense. We will have 9.8 mil left after we cut him, and know we can get a good (not great) pass rusher that is younger and can grow with the younger defense. It is going to be the best move we make all winter. The 4 games he showed up didnt give us valve for the 18 mil were paying him.
-
Brian was my favorite player for many years, but the combination of him holding the Bears hostage and his condescending attitude towards us fans, didnt give me a thrill after his skill level diminished at a quick rate. He liked slutty women and I being single dont have a problem with that. He didnt appear to be a role model father to his kids, but his ego got in the way for a lot of his things. Him taking shots at the Bears because the contract didnt go the way he wanted, only tells me he's selfish. Oh by the way, I like slutty women also, and I like that about myself.
-
thats true, but he has to be out of contract before they can sign a new contract, to show you how slow we are here, I actually brought this up.dont classify me with some of the other nicpickers on here, Im usually quite subdued on little things.
-
He doesnt have a contract, so it cant be an extension. That would be under a new contract. He wasnt definite, but prospects sound good that they are discussing a new contract. I would say a 2 year 13 deal might get it done. We have the TB lovie thing to interfere now to drive up the price. He wont work for less than Jennings signed for. His skills have diminished but still a TO machine we need to have in the backfield. IF we resign him, I would say CB wont be addressed until middle rounds. 4 or 5. that gives us 1 and 2 for DT and DE, FS or SS . I would say these would be our 1st 4 picks.

Was listening to the score this morning and Marty Bennett was on, and I think it is realistic about us getting his brother here. They have a bond, and if the Bears offer for him is anything close to what he may get on the open market, he will be here. I think if they offer him 4 year, 27 mil. , that would work. If he plays well in the Super Bowl, his price may go up, but Chicago is the only place his brother is at and that will come into play. They (seahawks) gave Arvil 2 year 13 mil, so I think 4-27 is realistic price for him. We save 9.8 if we cut Peppers and we have our pass rusher at 27 years old.
