That was probably one of the best catches in the league for the year.
-
I hate to agree but your probably right.
-
All games are important if we are to make the playoffs, hope Josh comes thru but still wont displace Jay when he comes back.
-
Maybe, but then again maybe he is the catalyze.
-
So would you rather have Brady or Gannon? Systems dont make you a better QB, they play within the limits of the QB and maximize your potential, a better QB will end up having better results.
-
I am comfortable with McCown, and the results we have gotten, but to think he is some kind of franchise starting qb, cant bare the thought.Cutler for sure has his negatives, but with a resemblance of a an offense line and some weapons has looked a lot better and I think under Trestman's tutelage would deliver what a franchise QB would be. The money thing will come into play next year with all the roster spots we need to fill. He will command a big contract if not from us from somebody else. There will not be any hometown contract, he doesnt have to. He will be in demand. Probably best case scenario would be to franchise him and give him another year to prove himself because this year has been overshadowed by injuries. Not sure how I feel about that, but in any event we will draft a QB in this years draft and things will play out accordingly. I am a gambler so maybe I role with McCown coming back and a high draft pick for a QB and hope it all ends well. Spend the 18.5 on some better defensive players with a baddly needed up grade on defense. Really we dont need to address those questions now, we have plenty of time to beat each other up with the proper answer to those questions. Next year we need a new center, two DTs , new safties, CBs, way to many needs to address in one offseason. We will see quickly how good is Emery, to see if he is a miracle worker. Conclusion, hopefully McCown plays well, Cutler comes back and plays well, our defense gets better and we win the division, and have a first round playoff home game. Maybe that can happen maybe not, but I as a human being have the ability to dream and choose those results.

is anyone worried about losing twice to the lions
Stinger226 replied to 50england50's topic in Bearstalk
I hate to say it but think the tie breaker going to Lions will prevent us from making the playoffs. I think we go 10-6 and tie with Lions, sitting with a decent record and a 20-24 pick in the draft and back to mediocrity again. -
We have winnable games and we need to win at 4 and maybe 5 to get in playoffs. I think the last couple of games the defense has shown a little progress and maybe we can be lucky and win what we need to make it. It is a broken arrow but it is pointing up.

Get use to it boys, all the rest of the games will be like this. The one thing I do think is encouraging is the young players on defense are starting to get better, so maybe down the road we will have some better results. Trestman has been making some mistakes but also did some good play calling so wont ride him for his mistakes. Glass half full

Probably not what is most on his mind right now, after being declared out for the year.
-
I totally agree with you, as in most cases , not. With the first round pick, I think if a stud safety is there, I would do that, otherwise DT.
-
Where did you move too? are you still my neighbor? I criticized Trestman but like him a lot. He screwed up yesterday but am a big fan. The best coaches in the league make bad decisions sometimes, and I hope one day he will be reveled in the league as one of the best of the best , just not today.
-
I am sure everything I will talk about was on the thread for the game yesterday but dont really have time to view all of it ,so will put my thoughts down here. I like a coach that is aggressive, but we should have took the points early in the game instead of going for the first down. People drop balls, and we get inappropriate pealities at the wrong time but what stirs my dandruff was not going to McCown after the first half. I understand going with Jay to start the game, but he was getting beat up, and wasnt mobile, we should have went with McCown at the start of the second half. Its not Jays fault, he would have wanted to go back in even if his legs were falling off. You have to make a decision for the better of the team. I like everything I have seen from Trestman so far this year, but decisions yesterday reminded me of Lovie. This actually was the most important game of the year with the winner taking the lead in the division and all of the tie breakers advantages going forward. Bad day for Trestman, if McCown was in the second half we would have won the game. The play on the two point conversion was a McCown mistake going to the run instead of the the pass but bottomline is we lost a winnable game. Bad bad day for the team.

I dont think it has anything to do with McCown, he is a competitor and wants to play. McCown isnt a threat to him.
-
Good to give us people to look at I wouldnt have normally found on my own. thanks
-
He has deserved all the criticizium he has gotten, but he deserves all the credit for maybe the most important game of the season coming threw when we needed it the most. Maybe he finally becomes the pass rush stud he was suppose to be. I still dont think he is an everydown DE( look at the run defense) but as a rush pass specialize maybe we see the beginning of a career.
-
McCown looks awkward at times but he can get be pretty accurate with his throws.
-
They keep doing that fake reverse on the kickoff, one these times the other guy will get it.
-
The coaches are playing chess right now, be interesting to see the outcome. I think we have a much better shot at the win than 2 quarters ago.
-
With Rodgers out, our prospects are looking up, but with a God awful defense we need to be more consistent on offense.
-
Just doesnt look very good, but worst for Bears or the league?
-
the GB game looks unattainable but the Lions are a team that we can beat, remains to be seen what happens but one game at a time.
-
when you roll the dice sometimes you come up with a 7 or 11 and at worst it wasnt a heavy bet
-
I think most of the calls are predetermined, according to offensive formations. There is some immediate input but the coaches would make the adjustments if he wasnt calling what he was suppose to.

Would love to have any of them but here is the problem, Salary caps hits this year Byrd-6.9 Tuck-6.1 Babin-4.3 Finnegan-15 We have 2.1 at this point of the season There salaries for the year will be about 60% of that after its prorated , we simply dont have the money and then we get to giving up draft picks, which is something Emery will not want to do. Just a pure dream state, but not reality.
