I agree that is NOT what I want to happen. I just think the quality players I think available at that spot might not be what I desire and they go with a BPA scenario and that is what we end up with. With all our CBs out of contract at the end of this year, this is a REAL possibility of happening.

I think all the OL people we would draft will be gone. I think we would like to draft Austin and he will be gone. I think the players that drop down to us will be DE/DT types, but I think Trufant is ranked right around our pick in the big boards I have been looking at and think he will be our pick. This is not the player, I would like, that would be Ogletree at this stage but, think with his off field problems, we let him slide. There is a real good chance we move down but for sake of this thread, we pick Turfant/CB.

I think they cut Hester or make him take a pay cut this year. We will save 2.1 if we cut him with 833,000 dead cap. That is to much money for a KRer. I think you are right on with Peppers next year, they redo his deal and stays another year. I think next year the dead cap money would only be 3.2 mil., so cutting him out right is probable . Bennett becomes productive, we keep him but redoes his contract. He is paid way to much for what he gave us last year. I think Forte has a big year this year and we keeep him around. I think Briggs stays to finish his contract, and gets a Urlacher deal. Take it or leave. I also think we end up cutting Gould this year and redo his contract. He will make 2.9 mil, and with all the vets getting cut, we could get one for a mil. I also think after this year Podlesh is gone. This year the dead money would be 1.2 but next year they will be no penalty. Micheal Bush has his guaranteed money done after this year, so that could be a spot to free up money next year. Bottom line is next year will have some sweeping changes and will have more money that we think they will.

I will list some names of players drafted in latter rounds that end up being good pros. WR- I think Dennard Robinson ends up either as a PR,KR or a slot type WR being a productive NFL player. He has the speed football IQ to succeed at the next level. OG-Alvin Bailey/Ark- He is athletic, been productive- and could end up a starter with the right team. OC- Brian Schwenke - I think he starts his first year in the league. DT- Akeem Spence- He had 72 tackles as a senior at Illinois- that is huge for a DT. OLB- Gerald Hodges- Highly productive player with good instincts- I think he eventually starts for an NFL team. CB- Terry Hawthorne- has the size and speed to be successful in the NFL. He improved every year.

As you said I think they keep Hester around until after the draft and if we get somebody to take his spot as a KR,PR he will be gone. I think PFF is a good tool to use in judging players, but it is not a Bible for players values as you can see by what teams have did in FAgency. Almost every discussion you have uses PFF as the main source. As you have seen from the Bushrod signing, the Bears view him as a better player than Webb, even though they are close according to PFF. Did we pay him to much, of course we did, but when you fill needs in FAgency you usually have to over pay. I think Bushrod will not be great at the position but above average and consistent. His OL coach is now here, and we would have never did that if he didnt think he could fix some of the negatives he brings with him. He was all pro for two years, they dont give those cudos out to just anybody. He was the starting LT on one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL the last 4 years that he started. He isnt perfect but you will see him to be a huge upgrade over Webb. I hope Webb makes in on the RT spot, but have my doubts because he is soft.

Like someone mentioned before, Emery didnt come into the best situation when it comes to the cap space. Several players carry big cap numbers, but think he has done well with what he has to work with. I think next year some of the big contracts will be cut or lowered and more adjusting of the roster will continue.

I dont think we add any more LBers in FAgency. I think the possiblity exists we add 2 in the draft. We acquired our starters, and now will add youth to the position going forward.
-
I actually like Hodges/Penn State as a latter round pick.

If we bring back Izzy, it will be for a minimum contract and that will no problem fitting that in somewhere. Moore started the year at NB. and lost his job to Hayden. The Bears decided on Hayden instead of Moore, so you and Carolina may be the only ones that saw great talent in Moore.
-
your right, but being our lack at depth at LB, the possibility exits.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,1799231.story Brad Briggs wrote a article about our cap space that was nice.

DJ barely played last year, it wont take much to replace that contribution, and Izzy still could be coming our way. Having said that we will be drafting a CB and DT somewhere in the draft, but it sure doesnt have to be a priority in replacing these guys. early.

Bleacher report posted a mock draft on April 3rd, and it is my favorite I have seen so far. 1 Copper/OG nobody will complain if that happens 2 Amerson/CB 6'1" 205 and had 5 interceptions and 12 PBU in 2012. 4 Stills/WR 6'1" 194-4.38 speed-82-959-11tds in 2012. I can get aboard on this pick 5 Klein/MLB not a as big a name as others, but highly productive player in 2012 6 Grissom/DT DT depth at the end of the draft Conclusion: our 1st 4 draft picks would make a contribution in the first year and Copper would be a stud. One of the best Ive seen so far.

Yes it gives a lot of information, sources have been provided, I would have never noticed on my own. A lot of smart people, opinionated ones, makes it all good.
-
Yes he did, but people pined for him on here last year, and I would have to say he didnt have anything left to give, and nobody wanted him.So I just used his name as a example of players now that wouldnt be any good.

Not much going on right now and since I like moving my mouth, I will talk frankly. With Emery(last year) and Trestman this year, we have is new blood and new hopes to hang our hat on. Although I thought Lovie was a good coach, he had way to many bad habits I didnt like. He talked down to people in interviews, had bad clock management, was to loyal to players that didnt pan out, and no offensive prespective. JA just sucked at drafting and that is what we hired him for. Emery's first draft has yet to look good, but I honestly think he was handcuffed with Lovie still in his year. He brought in BM and it came cheap, so if nobody in the draft works out, he was a winner in his first year. I still thinks it takes 3 years to give a honest review of his draft. What I like about him is he has a plan, good or bad has yet to be determined, but he does what he thinks is best. He doesnt let the McCaskey family interfere in his job, he accepts full responsibly for what he is doing. Probably the biggest thing he has done so far is not let koolaid drinking fans influence the decision to not bring Urlacher back. He sees him as old, injury prone, and not able to contribute anymore, especially at what Brian wanted to come back. He would have brought him back at his price, but Urlachers ego let it get in the way about what he is worth. I think he would have contributed as a leader of defense, but his play would not have been pretty. He choose not to work for 2 mil, and now nobody in the league is interested in him, and could sign for a minimum contract, and be somebodys backup on a good team. With Trestman we have no idea how well he will do , but if we look at his history, he will absolutely make Cutler a better QB, or he will find one he can work with. We now have a offense that could join the modern NFL and could rise to a top 10 appearance in the stats department. The defense will slide some but I think good enough to get us to the playoffs. The key to all this IMO is how well him and Culter mesh into the new offense. Secondly the OL needs to be better, and I think it will at least move to the top 15 to 20 OLs in the league and would be volumes better. Conclusion: I think this all works and we will be a playoff team this year, even though with a new coach, the odds are against that. Also I think the LBs they picked up play well, and SCM has more of an impact this year.I still think he adds someone on the OL, a speed WR appears, and we all have something to root for. Take in consideration I am a optimist, and live that more comfortably than being negative about everything that happens in the Bears present and future. I may have to one day accept this all didnt work out, but I dont need to do it today.

Something interesting concerning Ogletree. I just read that he was suspended the first 4 games of 2012, which means his stats were all done in 8 games. I have moved from Brown/lb to routing for Olgetree, he was a stud. I liked Brown because he is consider a natural born leader, which I thought we needed, but Olgetree is too good to pass up, if we get the chance.

here is the problem with signing Russel, that means we wasted our time on someone that wont amount to anything, instead of finding someone that might have some value. Vick and Burress actually had good years that would give them more value on taking a shot with them. I think maybe you should start a carnival and have TO, Russel, ect and travel around and show off there big egos, because the NFL is not the place to take lousy risks.
-
I would like them to concentrate on offense, but no matter what scheme you run, we need more LBs on the team. Briggs is only going to have a few years left, and even if the new guys work out, there not young. We have to draft a LB in our draft this year to bring youth to the position.
-
the only two early round picks on the private workout list are Ogletree and Brown. Thats interesting, who they might want more.
-
Is Arthur Brown the only one so far that has been reported to have a pre draft visit? I cant remember seeing any other names posted. Anybody have anybody else?
-
Thats a good comment, maybe he could win some biggest losers competition, but is to far removed from the NFL to be consider a thought.
