It will take the end of the season or maybe two years from now to judge what Emery is doing now, but I has to give him kudos for having a plan. He is systematically filling our needs with resigning or someone new. The biggest one is not signing the great Brian Urlacher, which in my opinion, is a good move. He is one year older and injury prone, and not up to par anymore. We filled his spot with a risk but with upside. A productive player until last year, Williams has something to prove. He will never be Urlacher in his prime years but tons better than Urlacher 2013. Anderson is a better choice than Roach,so at least on paper this looks like an upgrade. We got a cheap QB option back instead of the bloated Campbell. Our Oline is better but not great, but Slauson over an Louis coming off of a injury is a positive. Bushrod is not a great LT but is an upgrade over the mediocre Webb. Webb and Carmi will fight over the RT spot, with Scott a decent backup. That spot was terrible last year and now we have competition with the chance of it being better. TE is a huge upgrade over the handless Davis. Marena is a better blocker than Spaeth. Hayden was ok as a NB and gets to prove his worth being on a one year deal. The only move I didnt like was McBride over bringing back Idonije who was a underrated player. He still might be back, thou. The biggest thing about all of this is there all coming here on one year, cheap contracts.(other than Bennett and Bushrod) He is not done, so we can only improve on the present.
