I think past history shows us that when it comes to QB decisions teams make bad choices. Being that position is the most important in all of sports, I think it is possible.
-
For sake of argument, since we dont who there are, they currently have jobs working for teams in the NFL, and I would say (no matter who there are) are in better position to make a football decision than were are. The fact there was 12 of 13 is the key to the article. Overwhelmingly there agree with the decision. Trying to nitpick on such an article because they dont agree with you is pretty lame.

I see the safties on our team this year as Conti, Wright, Zbikowski, Stelz, Hardin, Nelson.
-
I still think Idonije is still in the mix if he comes back at our price, and still drafts a prospect late in draft. If we dont sign anyone else in FAgency and a BPA scenario exists if we get extra picks, we could be drafting one in the 2nd or 3rd.

Since Emery is suppose to be a draft guru and is willing to trade down. Here is a list of draft possibilities: ( Last years draft as of now doesnt look very good but I think he was handcuffed with Lovie in his ear) SF picks 31 34, 61 74, 93 128, 131c 157, 164 180 222, 237, 246c, 252c With there highest pick being 31 and having a solid roster to begin with I see them trading picks to get a higher quality pick going forward. I would say 20 for 34-74-128-180. That also works out on the draft trade chart. Buf 8 41 71 105 143 177 There is dire need of a QB and at #8 that is to high to grab one of them. So I think at 20 they could still get there choice. I would say 20 for 41-71-143 and a 4th round next year, gives us the draft chart balance. ARIZONA (7) 7 38 69 103 140 174, 176 They need a QB and I think #7 is too early for a prospect so they will be willing to move up to 20. I would say 20 for 38-69-174-176 and a 6th next year, according to the draft chart. MIAMI (11) 12 42, 54 77, 82 111 146, 166c 217, 224, 250c They have to replace a LT,CB, and LBs that they lost in FAgency, so I think they might want to move up to grab a need. I would say for 20 42-77-146-166-247 that is close to balance on trade chart. Of all these I think with all the picks SF seems to be the most likely to do the trade. One of the teams needing a QB could hopefully get in a bidding war and we may end up with more.

He could be our KR/PR and possible to be our NB going forward.

I think the only way we move Carmi to guard is if we resign Scott and dont sign Louis. Those transactions will tell what we do with Carmi. Also Miami has a lot of cap space yet and if Moore left there without a contract, it tells me Moore will want more than the minimum to play. It would be nice to bring him here but I dont think he signs for less than 2years-4 to 5 mil., which probably puts us out of the running. Most teams in the league would sign him for the vet min.

The draft will fill some of our roster spots, but other than the first two rounds, how much will you be able to count on them for major contributions. We still have some roster spots to fill that has to get done. We still need a backup QB. I think McCown is the logical choice, due to our comfort zone with him and he will be cheap. Also Campbell could come back but after paying him 3.5 mil last year , I dont see him playing cheap. Unless its a high draft pick, I dont see us getting our #2 in the draft. Other possibilities, Kolb, Grossman, and Brady Quinn. conclusion: Campbell will cost to much and didnt look good last year when he played. I think Kolb, and Grossman costing more than we want to pay. So McCown seems like the logical choice. We still need LBers. With D.J. Williams that could turn out to be a good addition, but still think they will draft some depth at MLB. Possibly in the 4 or 5th round. Ogletree or Minter, Brown in 1st, Te'o in 2nd, Reddick, Bostic, and Alonso in 4th or 5th. conclusion: I see us getting a 4th or 5th rounder, my call would be Bostic in the 4th. We still need a OLB starter. Williams could play outside if we draft a MLB prospect in first or second round, so that would still be a possibility. UFAs that could fill the bill. D. Smith,Barnett,Howard, and Boley. In the draft; Jarvis Jones in the 1st, Greene,Thomas,Collins in the 2nd, Moore, Hodges with the 4th and beyond. conclusion: I still see Daryl Smith coming here to be our starter, as jobs diminish we can get him at our price. We still need a NB. Hayden could be the guy, if he meets our price, UFA there are several quality CBs out there, and getting one at our price is likely. In the draft: Rhodes or Trufant in the first, Slay, Amerson,Banks in the second. Many 2nd and 3rd round grades as possibilities. Later round picks I like are Hawthorne or Mathieu. conclusion: I think we sill pick that guy up in FAgency or resign Hayden. If we go by BPA we could be picking a 1st or 2nd pick at CB. We still need OL I think with the Bushrod signing and Webb moving to RT to fight it out with Carmi, we concentrated on OG in the draft. I think we resign Louis and possibly of Scott yet. So we need to draft a OG,or OC in the draft: Warmack,Cooper, Flucker in the 1st, Long, Warford, or Barnett in the second, later round picks would be Schwenke, Winters, Fredrick, Foltz. conclusion: We resign Louis, we trade down in the draft and with extra picks, pick up Warford in the second and Schwenke in 3rd or 4th. I think Carmi comes back to take the RT spot and Webb is our swing tackle. The wild card here is Brown is good enough to start or we draft Barnett in second to play OG or OC. We still need a WR We have some WRs on the roster that could suprise us like a Anderson or Golden, but we need to add a speed guy to spread the field and will get him in the draft. 1st round-Austin. Bailey or Wheaton in the 2nd, Later round picks would be Swope, Stills, Boyce, Goodwin. conclusion: I think we get this guy in the draft Austin in the first or second is a BPA possibility. I think it comes from a Swope, Stills or Boyce choice in a later round if we move to get more picks in draft. We have a lot of spots to fill which will be filled in the draft and FAgencyl, and the next few weeks tell a lot about our football team. I think we still make some cuts, and reconstruct Marshall and Bennett for more money. We resign Louis, Hayden, McCown and another UFA to play LB. The new regime is quite tight lipped and its a roller coaster ride that has been fun so far.

To keep him I think he will be asked to take a paycut. At 2.9 mil that is a lot to pay a specialist, that didnt have a TD last year and going forward is on a downhill slide. I would not cut him if he lowers his salary but with our salary cap situation, dont see him making on the team this year.
-
Actually Stelz and Zbikowski are very similar players, not sure there is much difference other than salary. The money is almost identical also. They may not keep both, unless there is a injury in Training camp. They wont be redoing either Till or Pep due to it moves to much money forward with extra years and at there ages, they arent sure they want to keep them that long.

I used those words, but having worked for Lovie has what negative effect on the football team? When the rest of the team there now also played for Lovie.

I went back looking at all the posts about Urlacher leaving and if we use your logic of we can do a better job, do you realize the board would have voted to not have him back. They are only a few that have you near sightedness when it comes to his valve. You come up with some good posts sometimes but this bandwagon is a lonely one your on.
-
You are insightful, I think if the right person is there for SF at 20, we can load up on some picks.
-
I actually this morning started a new mock with a trade with SF, using Drafttex, as the tool, but figured this mock stuff would get old and deleted it. I had them trading 20 for 34,74,128 and 180 which works out on the trade chart. I had them taking; 34-Warford/OG Day one starter 50-Austin/WR Playmaker 74-Schwenke/OC Could start first year 117-Hodges/OLB Productive college player 128-Mathieu/CB PR/KR and could turn out to be our nickel back eventually 153-Geathers/DT I like him too 180-Matt Scott/QB I like him too 188-Blaize Foltz /OG someone else brought his name up before See we sometimes think a like.
-
I think the opportunity arises to move down and grab extra picks. I believe the first couple picks will include a OL, they scout them better than we do, so I will pretend they know what there doing till they screw it up. Then I will become TT or Jason, and be all over them.
-
Throw them all out there and lets play football. Emery is reshaping the team, and it is going to be an interesting ride. Time will tell if he will be successful or not, then we can bash him.
-
Actually I only appear to be smart, Im not all that sharp.(just kidding) You seem to be reaching when you assume a bunch of idiots are running football teams, they make there living do that, not all are successful but the ones that they polled seem to be the smart ones, BECAUSE THEY SEE A GREAT PLAYER WHEN HE DOESNT HAVE IT ANYMORE, and dont want him.
-
If SF is the only one to compete with I would say we have a good shot.
-
The ST comment is completely true with your 4th and 5th WRs , they NEED to play ST
-
Its no big deal, a depth player. I thought I read somewhere where he could play nickel back? It wont hurt having a homeboy around. At least he is a team leader, rah, rah guy, and has some starts in NFL.
-
You make a good point, plus I do see them trading picks, a good solid roster will maybe have 5 or 6 stick with the team? A lot of trades coming for SF for now and future picks.
-
These opinions are from people that run football teams. The teams didnt hire them from fans blogs, they actually do this for a living. You dont have to agree them , but there opinions way outclass both of ours.
-
That all sounds like exactly what will happen. I think the possibility exists that we sign a older vet for a couple years until Brown is ready to start. Someone like Brandon Moore.
-
Right now there signing 1 mil players. We paid him 2.5 last, so probably not going to happen.PLUS they got rid of 54, so I'm sure he wouldnt want to play here again.
-
I looked at WF mock and Greene was gone at 50, Schwenke was gone at 95, not sure which draft you used for your scenario.
