  1. The totally think we will play well this week after the abuse we had in Philly. Most teams that get there ass kicked play well the next week. A pride thing I think. Philly get broadsided by Minny and came back with a vengeance. Philly stength was our weakness and we just got butt hosed. It happens some time.
  2. We would have lost if McCown was starting too, the defense was that bad, special teams sucked. Cutler did not play well, but Josh is not the second coming of Tom Brady.
  3. When you sign players at a vet min. for example McCown makes 840 thou but it only counts as 600 against the cap. I am not sure of the excursion but it works something like that. I suspect that some of the players wont play for what you suggest on the resign list. There is no way Melton will come here and play for 3 mil. He wouldnt go will a long term deal when they were paying him 8 mil. I see McCown coming back for 1.5 and more if we dont resign Cutler. Ratliff is making 1 mil. now if will take more to bring him back, he has shown so signs of being a better player. Most of your proposal looks good, but think some of the math wont work as far as the salary.
  4. Our special teams are god awful, and the defense is terrible. I think DeCam is gone, but think maybe since there remaking the defense will keep Tucker for one more year and let him do what he wants to do. How would you take a job and they tell you , you have to run this defense, and dont get to do what you want. I think with the massive turnover of defense players that will occur this year, they will keep him one more year and let him set the defense up like he wants it to be.

    Mel Tucker

I agree, most of blame is on players. I think we are just God awful and I dont care if you had the best DC in the league, he would not play well with these players. They wont fire Tucker they will give him a bonus this year for having to coach this defense. Lot at all the weak spots. If we had everybody healthy we would still be bad the only thing that is different is would would have more turnovers and that would make a difference but still would be very good .
  6. I think Tucker has some responsibility, but he has very little to work with. In this defense you get 2 defensive breakdowns per play your screwed. The Eagles are exploiting our weaknesses as good teams will do.
  7. The math doesnt work on you proposal. We have 28 players still under contract, you added 13 and with 6 rookies that is 47 players. Your additions takes all of our cap space so how do add 6 players with no money? We have to get the players you listed for probably about 6 mil less than you stated and then you need to leave around 3 to 4 mil to sign players thru the year, so your math is off by around 10 mil.
  8. If any of you guys are interested there's a good movie on AMC
  9. I HOPE we do it, because I dont want it to come down to a GB game with Rodgers back. My packer fan friends will toast me for all the bad smack talk I have given them.
  10. packers and Lions lose jajajajajja
  11. Hail hail the gangs all here, GB lost hahahhahahjajajaja
  12. Were either the division winner or wont make it at all, so we play at home the first game no matter what.
  13. I dont think the offense will be a problem I fear Jackson-9-112-2 and McCoy 183 yards a couple of TDS type of day.
  14. Realistically we probably need to draft all D players except for a QB prospect. Like some of your thoughts, but Garza is now our weak spot on the OL, I was thinking of a Pouncey type or a Austin type to draft for those positions high and what a great offense we would have. I just threw this out there as (food for thought) but am getting more behind the thought the more I give it mileage.
  15. Injuries have been a downfall for us, but I dont think we were playing well before everybody got hurt. I was just throwing out the idea of loading the offense, but there is no way we get good in one year. Play better , yes but still not very good in my opinion. I like the idea of Bennett we pretty well have to take best player available in the draft whereever the position. The only way we get a chance at an impact player. I see SMC gone after this year.
  16. Im calling 38-34, havent decided who wins yet thou. My favorite time is the late afternoon games to watch, nite games seem out of sync for me, but (a shot of tequila) raised for hoping we win.(OH its morning I cant start drinking yet.
  17. I am a traditional Bears fan, great defenses along the way to enjoy and this defense is God awful. Everytime I watch them, I feel like a dog just bite my nutsack. We have to rebuilt our defense and how long will that take. History tells us, you draft well for 3 years and grab a couple prime FAs and you can have a stout defense. The problem with that is, if this is our first year of rebuilding it we have a 2nd and 3rd round pick that is a long way from being decent let alone having an impact. I wrote this with the thought, since our offense is on its way, and the time it will take to rebuilt our defense, by the time the defense gets good again, Marshall will be done, Cutler will be at the end of his career, and Forte will be trying to catch on with another team. I think it will take 3 years to get anything that resembles a defense again and by then the offense will be starting to fade. Add 3 years to the play of Cutler , Marshall, and Forte, and then we will have to rebuild the offense again. So I thought....WHAT IF...we just jump on offense and add some pieces and try to win with an awesome offense and patch the defense. Add a speedy WR or a stud TE(two TE sets)(see past NE games) and a anchor OC and we cam rival the NEs, and Denvers of the league. We have the disadvantage of sitting on a team that has had many bad drafts that instead of stocking this team has us out on a ledge. Add in the change in rules, lack of practices(bargining agreement) creating lousy tackling. The cards are stacked against good defenses any more, why not buy in and build a dynasty with a great offense this time.
  18. Since our defense sucks, and the offense is close to being very very good, how about it we sold out on defense and continued building the offense first. Grab a star TE in the first round and a OC in the second and then draft defensive players the rest of the draft? Pick up free agents to fill defensive spots, and bring back some of our own players? This is out of left field thinking but if we get two TE options and improve our oline and let the the defense suck with mild improvement. what do you think.
  19. We beat up Culter for his faults but keep in mind , since he has been here we have been the worst OL in the league until this year. He didnt have any weapons until last year and now Jeffery has developed and we signed Bennet. He has bad habits but with all the bad juju around him, he has improved this year, until the injury. I think he is our best option What if we throw all our baskets in Joshs corner and he fails then we have to rely on an unproven rookie to take over our fortunes. I have no desire to be back in QB hell that we were for years. There are reasons we doubt Cutler but the injuries have impeded his growth and I still think he is our best option going forward. He has weapons He has an improved OL He has Trestman I think that is all we have to say, and for those Josh is great fans, look at his history and at 35 that can come back anytime.
  20. I am there with you, I think Hageman is the best DL this year and could also play DE if we needed that.
  21. It really is kinda of a mute point now. Cutler is healthy, somewhat, and the coach likes him, so we will live with his faults and hopefully win the rest of the games. Josh played well(good for us) and Cutler has been improved over his gunslinger self this year. I think Tresty can get him where he needs to go, the injuries delayed his progress. the important thing is to win and we did that today. By the way isnt it nice to be arguing over who is the better QB when both has had good moments, instead all the stinky QB play we have endured over the years.
  22. We now get to see Cutler back under center for better or for worst. He will get us back on his bandwagon or cause much talk about McCown again. I hope he does well, we win out and make the playoffs. But: as the season goes we will probably win 2 of the next 3 and not make the playoffs. Lions have a better 3 games to deal with than we do. So for Christmas I would like us to win out(first choice) or lose out and get the best draft position we can grab. So what do you want for Christmas?

    Draft Prep

I doubt if we get that chance to draft him at 17-22, where we will probably draft. We need an impact player and whether it be saftey,DT or DE we should get one of them there. I would jump on him at where we draft.
  24. I think with the injuries to Jay, we just need more time to judge him and that will be with the franchise tag comes into to play.As far as Josh he has played well but can he bare the burden of a full season? What if we go with him and draft a guy we could be in QB hell next year. He may turn into a 35 year old backup QB that got old overnite. I am a gambler so if we went that way I would complain but still think Cutler gives us more options. We have to rebuilt a D that will take two years if were lucky, but a if we spend a 4th round pick on a project, it wont hurt our growth on defense.
  25. With all the spots we have to fill on the roster there is no way we pay Josh 3.5 mil a year. I expect us to tag Cutler and sign Josh to around a 2 year 2.5 mil. contract. I dont see people rushing out to grab a career backup QB at the age of 35 having a good year. Of course you only need one team to boost his salary. I think they are trying to build a Super Bowl type offense and letting Cutler walk at this stage would be ludicrous. We have the WRs, the TE, and other than Garza pretty well the offense built. This is what I think will happen in the offseason: Tag Cutler Resign Josh with a raise Let Garza go Resign Slausson and put him at OC(he has played there before) Sign another OG in FAgency on the cheap(the best position to get cheap help) Let Bush walk(Ford is the next man up) Let Peppers go Resign Collins, Ratliff, Anderson,Britton,Gould,Bowman,Walters We bring in a couple of CBs in FAgency we draft a (in any order) Safety,DT, DE, OC, QB,CB,CB
