Bears expected to be in the bidding for OG, Andy Levitre
Stinger226 replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Bearstalk
Those situations have to be compared on a one and one basis. We dont go after someone because Merriweather sucked? Find me a OL guy who left, and who failed. I dont recall one. -
I have a bigger stake in Hester than all you guys. The year the Bears went to the Superbowl, I was vacationing in Cabo and made one of those stupid side bets. Mine was 50 on Hester being the first person to score a TD at 35 to one odds. Needless to say, the Bears were winning and I just won 1700.00. I was flying high, then the assholes lost, but Hester gave me a big payday. I have fond memories, but he doesnt have it anymore, sorry.

I hope they can do that, but am trying to be the voice of reason. I think we find money to spend but it will be to bring some of our own back, and get some help in a couple places NOT one big signing. I am with all you guys desire to add something spectacular. I have read in a couple different places where we want Scott/OT (as a swing tackle), Louis (assuming he is healthy), Idonije, and Hayden to come back. With Melton all of this will not come cheap. I think there are a lot of players we would like but at our price. So it comes down to who. Lets want Long, Levirte, Wallace, and Cook, but it aint going to happen. Lets say Brandon Moore and Dustin Keller will be more the type. All of us are saying what we want and what we wish, but we dont run the Bears. -

What you need to realize that a lot of sources link players to teams only because they have a need. It is hard to sort out what is actual and what isnt. I dont see anyway we go after a 7 to 8 mil player no matter who he is because our our cap situation. Who ever we go after it wont be more than a 5 mil a year type player and its going to take a lot of shifting to get to that. -
You dont become a great KRer because of only your blocking. He was great at it, but he doesnt have it anymore. If he was making 1 mil could afford to take the chance he might get it back, but at 2.8 mil, we cant afford to take that chance.

Its gets the ball rolling getting a deal done.

Your so right, you cant fix all of our problems in one off season. We need to sign one in FAgency (someone like Moore, or a King Dunlap) cheaply that can bridge a gap until we are able to draft and develop more players. Then we the first pick grab one. Say hopefully Cooper or maybe D.J Fluker and then we have to fit them in around what we have to get to a decent line play. Maybe we can draft in the 4th or 5th rounds a OC to groom to replace Garza because that story is coming to an end.Our cap space will be found by cutting players and restructuring a few others.

I am not sure who they were looking at but suspect it was a OLB Jamie Collins 6'4 250 4.64 40 guy. A 4th or 5th type of pick.

I use to bowl in a league once. We had a lot of friends come by and drank. The SERIOUS bowlers asked us to leave the league because we didnt take it serious enough. The point is I try to have fun in almost everything I do. I make comments that are meaningful and sometimes someone will say something that annoys me. So I jack with them. I add serious content to this blog all the time, and sometimes make stupid statements. When I do that I get called on the carpet and have no problem with that. There are a lot of informed people on here and enjoy all that it brings. Everybody on here cat calls other posts and that is part of the fun of this thread. The only problem I have is , I think (MAD LITHUANIAN) is too nice and needs to bad mouth someone once in awhile. THE POINT OF THIS TOPIC IS TO HAVE FUN ON HERE AND BECOME SMARTER AT THE SAME TIME ABOUT OUR BELOVED BEARS Thats all I got

Fixed your mess up in bold. I am not sure if you were talking about my grammar or a WR running for a TD with that comment of yours.
-
And I have to again thank you.
-
You are kidding right? 5 mil a year for an aged and injury prone, average production LB. He was ranked 29th our of 35 MLB starters last year in tackling efficiency. Because of our cap space, 2 years at 2.5 mil a year is stretching it. Buy a nice poster of Urlacher and lets get a good football player, or a cheap one.
-
Let me see, you make little comments all the time, and thats OK? But when I do it, its immature? How is jacking with you, making myself better than you? I dont proof read everything I do, and could care less if I fluke an English grammar test, its about the content, not the vocabulary structure. Your not the only one on here I jack with, just the one that is the most fun.
-
Your talking about paying 2 to 3 mil for Moore or 7 to 8 for Levitre. THATS not a little more. We dont have the cap space to do that.

Thank you

He automatically becomes the best OLinemen we have. Sign him cheap, draft a 5th rounder to develop and have a margarita.
-
Ruben Brown was old and we got mileage out of him. He is an upgrade to anything we have and he was actually rated higher by PFF than the great Levirte/Bills. Age means we may only get 2 years our of him, but I am all in.
-
The trick is, if you dont keep him you only save .5 mil. Thats the same has having a minimum salaried player in his place. I choose to keep him.
-
There is no (set in stone) that he will not play all 16 games but another year older and history shows us he didnt play a full year in the last 2. Doesnt sound like something you bet your house on. And now he has a bum knee, that aint coming back full strength no matter how you want to put it.
-
What about last year tells you he still has it? His not having the heart to play anymore when he thought about retiring? Thats the guy I want to pay 2.9 mil to get me 20 yard returns.
-
He needs to just suck it up and play a 2 yr, 5 mil and live with it. What kind of incentives will he have, like playing 12 games? That means you paid him to much to play 11.
-
He is a leader of the defense, but if he dont come cheap, we dont have the luxury of having him here. 3 mil, tops and I can accept him around another year.
-
So, if I got this right, we need guards and will be ok with our tackles? My proposal is we need a LT and LG. do I have this right.
